... one thing I'd really find useful (and if it exists tell me I'm a plonker and I'll be a happy bunny!) is the ability to search within my content AND restrict that search to a specific 'type': prop, figure, etc. There is nothing so annoying as, as I did recently, doing a search for 'orange', knowing I had at least one prop for the fruit, but only to be swamped in a veritable deluge of textures with an orange hue!

In Smart Content you can use the categories to restrict the results (well, to filter the results - they are still all there, but you see only the ones in the selected category).
Sorry, not in Smart Content, in Content Library, as I often want to look for stuff that has no metadata.
No there isn't any way to do that. I made custom categories for all of my content so I know exactly where everything is. Right click on the photo of your product and click on create category and you can build your own content library that does not destroy any of the paths that Daz needs to find the content.
It'd be lovely to have, for example, a right-click menu option for 'search within' when used on an entry in content library.
