GoZ bridge not working since DS4.9.3.25 update

I recently updated to DS 4.9.3.25 public beta and updated the GoZ bridge as well (to 1.6.3.25).

The Send to Zbrush option works, but once I have made my morph in Zbrush 4.7 and click GoZ nothing happens. The morph is not sent back to DS.

Prior to the update, everything was working fine.

Anyone else have this issue?

Any suggestions as to how to solve it?

In an effort to try to get GoZ working with the latest version of DS public build, I deleted the GoZ bridge package and went to download it again only to find the following in My Account:

GoZ for DAZ Studio BETA (Inactive)

No explaination, no indication of why, no indication of when or even if GoZ will ever be available for the public build.

Way to go DAZ3d, 10 out of 10 for communication skills.

Does anyone know what this is about? Or have any more information?

I decided to install the previous DS / GoZ bridge pair that was working fine when in BETA, namely DS4.9.2.70 and GoZ 1.6.2.70 which are now the latest official versions. However, the same problem is present, that is, the GoZ button in Zbrush 4.7 does not send the morph back to DS. Note: I have not updated or changed the Zbrush4.7 installation in any way, so the problem should not be there.

This is all very strange.... please come back GoZ bridge.... we really do love you!

The correct way to get GoZ for a beta is to use DIM, as you do for the DS beta itself, which will give you the correct installer. The recent betas are not supplied with stand-alone installers, as taht would not allow them to coexist with the production build.

Yes indeed, that's exactly what I did. I always use DIM unless it is not possible. GoZ is still not working.

    Merged threads

If you instead install the version for the production build does that work? Remember that there can be only one DS GoZ plug-in installed - adding it to the beta removes it from the release build and vice versa.

OK, using DIM, I uninstalled DS4.9.2.70 and GoZ1.6.2.70. Then I reinstalled GoZ1.6.2.70, pointing DIM to the public Beta (DS4.9.3.25).

However, when I open DS 4.9.3.25 there is no GoZ plugin installed.

There should be a beta version of GoZ to go with the beta version of DS. If you have changed the application folder in DIM then that will break installation of all plug-ins.

Hi, your issue may be specific to 4.9.3.25 update or your specific install path issue.

I recently updated to 4.9.2.70. Didn't even install GoZ, but somehow things continued to work between DS and ZB4R7 so I left it as that.

From past experience the linkage could break occasionally

This is what I do when either DS or ZBrush had a hiccup

(Copy and paste from a recent response re:Goz)

    - with only DS opened (ZBrush not opened), GoZ a Genesis. In ZBrush make some vertices change, GoZ back to DS. ZBrush should now detect updated DS.

In most cases, this should re-establish the lost relationship.

    If that doesn't work

    - Go to Tool and press the R buttton to "Reset the selected GoZ enabled application" (Next to GoZ - All - Visible - R)

    if still doesn't work

    - Go to ZBrush Preferences > GoZ > Clear cache files. Then press on the Path to Daz Studio button. Select one of the DS versions (if you have multiple DS installed).

    Good luck!

Mythmaker, you're a hero! I had to go all the way to the last option (preferences) to re-establish the connection with DS4.9 (which had not changed btw).

    Now GoZ works again.

(Strangely, when I went to My Account at DAZ, I still saw the "GoZ for DAZ Studio BETA (Inactive)" message. However, I was able to download the GoZ installer via DIM.)

    Thanks again :)

    Oh goodeee it worked.

Yes it can be confusing if these 'pro default' plugins auto-install with DS or not.

Just had another GoZ and DS4.9 hiccup. Everything was fine and then Zbrush just doesn't send stuff back to DS anymore. All the usual steps don't work. So I restarted the computer. So it all worked again.

Sometimes it's either DS or ZBrush's fault, just the system throwing a fit, dozing off, or global warming etc.

Another incident of ZBrush 4R7p3 connection fail with DS 4.9. This time it's on ZBrush.

I finally decided to uninstall ZBrush 4R6. And well, things broke after that. ZBrush lost connection with all 4 of my frequent GoZ apps.

ZBrush Preference > Clear cache or Force Reinstall etc didn't work this time.

I remove GoZapp DazStudio folder. Uninstalled then reinstalled DS 4.9 GoZ using DIM. Still no use.

The apparent culprit is, 4R6 uninstallation wiped certain crucial GoZ scripts from C:\Users\Public\Pixologic!

After that ZBrush 4R7 64bit can't find those scripts so will not talk to any GoZ apps.

ZBrush site says in drastic cases reinstall GoZ, but has no link to GoZ reinstallation download.

Then I finally found the GoZ reinstallation file. In C:\Program Files (x86)\Pixologic\ZBrush 4R7\Troubleshoot Help. A file called GoZ_for_ZBrush_Installer_WIN.exe

That's it. Click on it and it auto reinstall and repopulate all Public/Pixo.../GoZ folders with multiple GoZ scripts.

Done. Launch ZBrush with DS closed. GoZ something to DS. All works again. I could also now launch Carrara Poser Photoshop from ZBrush again! Yay...

Pretty sure this info will come in handy every big uninstall on either side so I post it here anyway

Here's another recurring Daz - GoZ - ZBrush weirdness, which could be solved fortunately.

Sometimes GoZ from DS alone will RESET CUSTOM UI!

After which, no Pref:Restore Custom UI will restore. Pref: clear cache also didn't do anything. Exiting ZBrush, relaunch ZBrush, will get back your custom UI. But as soon as you send something from Daz, custom UI is lost again!

Eventually I found a way to get it back: relaunch ZBrush, send something from ZBrush to Daz Studio. Then DS GoZ will stop resetting the custom UI.

    EDIT [next day]

A better faster workaround is found.

So the custom UI random disable happened again during another mundane process.

I've made a prop then send from ZBrush to DS with no issue. Then I goZ a Genesis base to ZB (which is still opened). Custom UI/ hotkeys got disabled again.

I refuse to restart ZBrush just for another glitch. So I hit ZB's goZ and send the Genesis back to DS, which ask me if I want to load a morph. I just cancel. Go back to ZBrush, now the custom UI is back.

So it seems this is a faster way to get the custom UI back.
