Can you confirm is this on strart up?

Do you have the latest release of 8.5 installed.

What were you doing at the time if not during start up?

Thank you for replying so quickly Chickenman.

To answer your questions, I was re-opening a previous project that was saved. Carrara was already open.

    Thanks again.

Was the previous project saved interenally or externally?

Some people have had issues when saved externally.

They have less issues if saved internally.

    Hi Chickenman

I saved the project externally. I rebuilt the project and saved it internally, no problems now.

    Thanks for the support.

I had this same problem a year ago and the error was very similar.  It thought it was due to a plugin, and the plugin-vendor helped me, but it wasn't his plug-in at all. But he was helpful and parsed the file and found that the problem was coming from a vertex object-- a little row-boat. It was a horrid little object that I did not really need in the scene at all! It was showing up twice in the file (once with polygons, once without), and Carrara had an issue with the edges of the model (running an infinite loop through the edges).  But I would never have found it. The project was an important illustration and I'd not backed  up a spare. I definitely do that now as I would not be able to track down the error if it ever happened in another file.  (Thank you again, Julien- Inagoni for that help back then!)

Hope that helps for the future...always make backup project files.  OK, head down, back to studies..... hope to get back to Carrara by autumn.
