Autofitting to older models

Sorry if this is an old topic, but I've not been able to find any info on the matter.  I'd really like to be able to autofit newer assets on to older models, for example, fitting a shirt designed for G2M on to G1, but don't have the appropriate option in the autofit menu.  I can select a different autofit option, but the results are rarely accurate.  Is it at all possible with any workarounds?

There are clone shapes in the store to do this - a search for "clone" should find them.
