Exporting Genesis 3 from DazStudio
Hi all,
I'm new to Daz Studio and I'm trying to export Genesis 3 including morphs to Cinema 4D. This seems to work quite nicely with FBX, but There are a lot of things I still don't understand. Are there any tutorials or technical descriptions around, how G3 works. I've known from Poser all the details about V4 and JCMs and magnets included in the figure, but I really miss such technical information regarding G3.
- How do I get a list of all morphs that are included in G3 and how can I export a G3 with all morphs (including JCM and whatever)? During bending I may have to add these JCMs to the bend in Cinema 4D to get equal results.
- What are the face bones for, when the expressions are made with morphs?
- How do I know, which morphs are part of which package? Sometimes the lists on the product page description do not fit to the actual morphs, that I find.
- Why do I get all kind of morphs, when I load G3 and almost no morphs, when I load V7 which is based on G3? Should I always load G3 and then use the Victoria 7 slider to get V7 with the morphs?
Daz Tutorials are fine, but I really would love to get more information about the FBX export options and how G3 internally is set up to establish a stable workflow to Cinema 4D and get the most out of the Daz content there.

Ok, another one...
- What is behind the HD morphs. Are these morphs for the subdivided G3 or are they displacement maps?
Those are some good questions. I know nothing about JCMs. I've heard the term but not sure what it is. Joint controlled morph? If that's so I would have to think they would be less common with figures since the release of the Genesis platform, which use weight maps to control deformation.
The bones in the face are for creating more detailed expressions and otherwise deforming the the mesh. They are very handy, especially for those that are less inclined to use modelling tools to create morphs.I also assumed the HD morephs were just morphs created at higher subdivision levels, but I'm not sure. So, basically I can't help you but I'm interested in what answeres might popup.
HD morphs are created at a higher subd level, but, presently, only Daz PAs have access to the tools required to properly import these HD morphs to Daz Studio. Any subd on the figure will otherwise be improperly recognized and, as a result, won't work. For anyone else, you'd only be able to use the higher subd mesh to create displacement or normals.
Thanks to both of you for your replies.
@Jim: It seems that the Genesis platform is using at least JCMs. You will find more details about JCM and MCM here.

@Cris: I just wonder how I can get the HD morphs to another application like Cinema 4D. I can apply them in Daz Studio, but I rather render in Cinema 4D and Vray. I like the low poly approach of G3 and it should be possible to provide HD details via displacement maps.
