Olympus Mons

So, okay I'm browsing through the Environments and Props category, which is currently on sale, and once again came across the Olympus Mons Hangar -- which has a very attractive promo. I'm in the PC so I've seen this item before, however, the description refers to an Olympus Mons "range" which the hangar is supposed to seamlessly integrate with.

I've never seen anything but the hangar. It's a DAZ Original, with no artist name attached, so I have no clue as to who did the fabled main set that this was supposedly an add-on to.

Does this set still exist? I realize that it's fairly old. It's no longer in the store here. Has it been moved to another site, or simply withdrawn by the vendor.

It's by Red House Studios. The readme says it was first released in July 2005.

The "range" you reference appears a cylinder with a 360 panoramic image and sand texture on floor, I prefer using spheres and have a number of images that I can use for that.

Ah. I finally bought it and saw that it was from Redhouse. but the promos and description really do make it sound like an add-on to a larger set.

It's old enough that a cylinder might have been used as well. The Multiplane Cyc is a segment of a cylinder, after all.

I suppose I could also ask over in Jack Tomalin's thread as well, just to make sure I've covered all the possibilities.

The Olympus Mons was a large environmental prop set from the PC.

It was pulled not long after it was released and is another one of those items that was supposed to return but never has.

Here's the file list from the original readme

The crates and walkway you see in the Olympus Mons Hanger promo are actually from the original Olympus Mons set.

The promos for the AMS mech that jack built also show elements of the larger environment in the background. Some hints of Weyland/Yutani type complex

If I remember right there was a problem with the scale (the doors weren’t the right scale, I think). RHS pull it and at first said they would fix it, but later said it wasn’t fixable and the whole thing was dropped

Not quite - but it certainly wasn't down to us for it not reappearing sadly.

But alas. Looking at it now I think I can extend on it somewhat.

There's an image of the set posted in this other thread.

I’m not really clear; you still have it and could return it to marketplace? Which would be great. Are saying that you might make more pieces for it? I would defiantly interested in that? This is a set piece I made using all the Olympus Mon pieces. It’s so large it work best in Bryce.

Oh sorry... I mean I will replace it with something similar, but created totally from scratch. I dip in and out of Sci-fi stuff, like most genres really, so I will pencil it in and see what comes around ;)

Can anyone tell me how to contact RHS? I'd like to see if I can get a copy of the Olympus Mons set.

Jack was half of RHS, so use the PM button under his post above yours.

Olympus Mons was a PC item. It would be considered a DAZ Original. Jack and RHS no longer own the product. That's why Jack posted earlier he would have to make a new one that is similar.
