Building Alan Rickman

I'm looking to work on a piece of fanart for a friend's novel. One of the characters involved is partially based on an Alan Rickman character. Can anybody recommend a model and hair product they'd pick to start with? I've seen some other celebrity-lookalikes (g2 Killian gave me chills and not just because that's my son's name...) but haven't stumbled across a good match for him yet.

The woman is British gentry with Greek blood. I'm _sure_ something out there would suit her, but I'm honestly still learning to tell all the many Daz-and-PA girls apart, so advice there would be welcome.

Also looking for hair that would take streaks of an alternate color well, although I can probably use UHT2 for that as needed. Does anybody know what the longest hairstyle out there is? I'm not sure the lady's hair has ever been cut. I'm willing to take creative license, but also curious.

For the rest; Regency appropriate clothes, an awesome cloak. If anybody has any favorites.

Thanks!

What age and movie? I'm assuming since it's fan art that it's either Die Hard or Harry Potter?

wink He might be a little Snapeish.... But probably the age Snape actually was, not the age Alan Rickman was. But I have aging and growing up morphs! Aging for g2/g3, I think, yay sales.

Thank you for the search query. :-) You know, it's weird, I read Georgette Heyer and other Regencies and I just... never imagine the gentlemen's clothing as it is. I'm not even sure what I do imagine. I wonder if costume dramas are to blame.

ETA: omg those are all PC+ wow

Yeah, looks like they are in PC+ - which is good for saving some money! :)

As for the character shape, I wouldn't really know a good starting point character. I'm not as familiar with the male characters as I am the female characters (and even with them I don't know many since I'm pretty new still).

As for the longest hair, perhaps this one: http://www.daz3d.com/zed-hair or this one: http://www.daz3d.com/the-dragonbraid-bundle

    Check the 4th image, he's a good likeness. It's for m3 so I don't know if he's useful.

I don't know about the longest, but I've had good results with Julius Hair for G2 on both G2 and G3 characters, (male and female.)

  • The title of this thread sounds like a sequel to "Being John Malkovich".

I think that meant to click upon the fourth (or rightmost) thumbnail and then look at the "portrait" labeled "Snipe".

    Sincerely,

    Bill

  • I actually love the new hair released today--it even seems to have built-in streaking, which seems serendipitous. Though now that I look at Julius Hair, the Ajax Hair is kind of an update for that isn't it?

I'm mostly trying to stick to g2 and g3 models. But otherwise that 'Snipe' would be pretty great!

There's an M4 "Sevvie" over at Renderosity that might be useful if you have GenX to transfer the morphs and the add-ons that let you use Generation 4 skins on Genesis 2/3.

That was my first response to Ajax Hair. I think I like Julius better. In spite of that, I'll probably get the Ajax Hair bundle at some point, just for the variety. (Can't have two characters in a scene wearing the same hair!)

  • Julius looks fuller in the promo images, but Ajax looks... more real? to my uneducated eye, anyhow. And that may just be render engine, I guess. Still, thick and full is kind of an ideal.

I bought oodles of PC+ V4 & M4 clothing this past spring but even at discounted prices it adds up so I'll be buying more. I can't imagine that they'll be a lot of motive to update these if they didn't sell that good to begin with.

Thank you for that! I knew there was one over there and I couldn't think of his name. I thought there was a 'Snape' character for Genesis here, but I cannot seem to locate him. I thought he was called Severus or something like that.

This artist seems to have made something work. I wonder if they're his/her own customs morphs or something. Looks really good though!

  • They mention zbrush so possibly... I'm going to have to see what I can do with morphs, I guess.

Valea has some very long hair too in many different styles, sometimes the length is not so obviously from the main promo, e.g. Dragon Princess, Misty Veil, Windsong, Midsummer Night Dream (check V4 version for length, Genesis is missing back promo) or Unicorn Princess hair, all from different generations.

Aw... I thought someone was building an Alan Rickman robot... I was gonna suggest you give him high power laser eyes... Oh well.

The Mogadeet stuff is mostly gen3, but there is a gen3 addon for Gen X2 which makes the gen3 morphs accessible.

I'm pretty sure the Sevvie character (for M4) is by TrekkieGirl, but I may have misremembered that.
