Oh I hope you can share them also if you have other edited skin maps :) you're really good but I think if you make tutorials it would even be better! :) since you'll help people in understanding photoshop :) by the way I've searched the hdr tutorials and I've seen that you need three images with different exposures right? How did you do that with a skin map? Did you just adjust the contrast or what specifically did you do? To get those 3 images? Also how did you add bumps in the scars or wounds? :)
@unknownmystery445,
1. To create the scar, I just painted highlights and shadows and added a grungy texture to it (I just go by feel, since I paint a lot too). Here's a tutorial on how to create scars in photoshop which you may find useful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-jIkpkc2Nc If you're good at painting with a tablet, then I suggest checking out this amazing brushes: http://nataliehijazi.deviantart.com/art/APs-Brushes-Skin-Textures-256231267
2. Photoshop CC actually creates bump maps automatically for 3D things. Here's a video tutorial for it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3CG-lzy0RA
3. For the HDRI I would suggest checking out some of the free actions here: http://www.twelveskip.com/resources/ps-actions/922/12-free-hdr-actions-for-photoshop That way you can tweak the results to your liking afterwards. If you don't know how to use actions, you can check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_ydHcDRJ-c
If needed, perhaps we can create a thread for more of this explanations. That way we don't take over this one XD.
Alright thank you for this! I'll just message you when I have further questions :)
No, you can't share a tweaked version of another person's textures - unless they give prior permission in a readme.
I love this character. Who is she?
I've had to select all surfaces and reset the shader to the original default version - e.g. DAZ Default, omUberSurface, etc. Then re-apply the original MAT texture.
That character is one of my favorites: Draupadi
Can I just ask does this work with the HD Add on morphs for characters? Or does this eliminate the HD Add on when used?
It should have no effect on the HD at all.
So it'll work with it? And enhance it?
Addressed this in another thread but in case others see the question here, here goes. HD morphs add detail to the model itself (the mesh). They add wrinkles, creases, pores, scars, whatever the vendor put in them. This is in the model itself and independant of any textures used. They do require you to bump up the model resolution to actually be visible because they need the mesh to be dense to add the details. In most of the HD morphs I've seen this is most visible in the face, especially the lips. But it can be much more than that, Zev0's HD aging morphs will turn your debutante into a wrinkled hag with a push of a slider.
On the other hand NGS 2 does not work on the mesh at all. It works on the materials applied to the mesh. Basically it sets those materials up such that the IRAY render engine can figure out how the light will be reflected/absorbed, what color it ought to be, how it ought to show things in the render. It is not dependant on the mesh below as long as it's designed for that mesh. So you can make the mesh higher resolution and the materials aren't affected. You can add HD morphs and the materials aren't affected. If you add NGS2, the mesh is not affected either but the material settings are modified heavily.
If you use NGS, in my opinion your skin materials will look better in most cases. If you use HD morphs, you should get more phsyical details in the model. You can use one or the other or both to suit your needs and desires. Hope all that makes sense.
Coincidentally, I just re-did an image made with Zev's Aging morphs. The original version is here and this an equivalent sized copy of the new version with NGS 2 added. There's also a larger version on my DevArt page.
Why did it become reddish? with the NGS 2? and it made some of the wrinkles less defined?
This is one of the best IRAY products I have purchased. Its very easy to use, makes the skin tones from Genesis, G2 and G3 look even better, more photo-real, with no problems, just one click and then if it looks a bit dark or light, you have a few options to tweak it. So far, I have been very happy with every one of my figures, the skins just look great. I use the High Level Pores, seems to add a bit more crispness and sheen.
Great product! If you are looking to get realistic skin tones from any genesis character, this is the best one out there and very easy to use! Thanks for making such a well thoughtout script.
Cybersox, that's AMAZING. I LOVE HER.
It's partially due to the NGS 2, partially from slightly different post-work but mainly because the original was lit entirely with spots to make the wrinkles stand out more, whereas the newer version is lit with mesh lights and only has a single side spot to kick up the specular on the skin. I learned a lot about Iray lighting during that contest...
Darius 7
Left, used Anagenessis 2 Dark Skin Genesis 3 script in the Dark Skins Folder
Center, Anagenessis 2 Skin Genesis 3 script in the default Folder
Right, Normal Iray
Darius 7 Gen parts look perfect, NGS2 also looks great in Daz3D Beta version.
Thanks. She's a composite of a lot of various women I've seen working in restaurants over the years and I rather adore her myself. :)
You could delete the skin textures, but leave a Placeholder :)
Select the the texture with Ctrl A and then delete, and you're left with it 'as is'.
Loving N.G.S. Anagenessis II - Revolution, it has become a necessity that I use on everything.
Has anyone had good results with DAZ Big Cat 2? I still can't seem to get good results (I never got good result with reular Iray shaders either). Any tips?
I have not kept up with this thread since page 12 or so. Can anyone save me thirteen pages of reading and tell me what parameter I change to lower the Pores level even more? I have not had much success with lowering Bump or Topcoat Bump.
Hello. I really want to try this. I use Reality and Lux Renderer. Will this work with them?
Thank you
I've been trying to get the V7 Merchant Resouce Pale Sking maps to work with the NGS Anagenessis 2 Iray shaders. In this image I used:
Victoria 7
Victoria 7 HD Add-On
Victoria 7 Merchant Resource - Pale Skin
N.G.S. Anagenessis 2 - Revolution
Macro Eyes for Iray Bundle
Iray Lipgloss and Lipcolors for Genesis 3 Female(s) by outoftouch at Rendo
Seema Hair for Genesis 3 Female(s)
Monokini for Genesis 3 Female(s)
InaneGlory's Photo Studio - Point and Shoot Iray
The NGS Anagenessis with the Bright preset script and with the blues turned down in the glossy color a bit. Maybe need to adjust a bit more.
No, it is for Iray, not Lux Render. I don't think this will work in Lux.
I've got this one but finding it hard to use. I tried to apply it upon a G2F SSS-texture to be able to use it in Iray.
However how do I get skin to look realistic? It's less victimized by the hard iray light business that is true, but all I end up is something which look like in the days before SSS. A kind of paperish look. I've been experimenting with most of the settings, but the only thing happening is that the colours keep changing just the tiniest bits. Not possible to add smooth shine, as far as I can tell.
I'm hoping to aquire some soft kind of glossines or alike to that 3Dlite/SSS-effect when the skin looks like it's softly lit/reflected from inside. Is that even possible in Iray?
And what kind of light will I need to use? Can I use this together with the 'classic' spot light and distant lights?
And from the tutorial - what is a LIE Image?
What does the Anagenessis 2 !Glossiness Caution do?
"What does the Anagenessis 2 !Glossiness Caution do?"
Pretty much exactly what it says. A notice not to have any surface selected when you apply that type of preset.
Sorry if this has been asked before, but this thread is already very long. What I want to know is:
How does this product affect render times? Do these skins usually render faster or slower compared to the standard skins?
What about ressources? Do these skins use more or less VRAM than the standard skins?
Thank you!
I haven't noticed any difference in render time vs a setup that was already iray uber. It uses less vram because it only uses the 4 diffuse textures for the skin and not the extra 15-20 support maps
Cool!!
Thank you very much!
Fisty: it's almost embarrassing how it does so much more with way fewer maps
