I will hopefully have something to show soon
Thanks to everyone for the posts in this thread. I'm just starting out with trying to make these 3D characters and the reason I'm doing this is because of the sci-fi/superhero novels I've written. I want to try and make them into online comic books. The information in here is helpful.
Thanks,
Jake
Just adding a few details here and there
A little Wolvie playing around of my own:
nice one
what hair are you using or hairs
Thanks... most of what you're seeing is the HR-072 hair from Ali over at Renderosity... but I did alternate renders with the Volg Hair and the Mil Beard as well, and there are some elements of those renders that were composited in and some other brush work as well.
And decided to try a quick take on another from the X universe (aimed for the suit to be somewhat similar to the Aerial costume from the pre-Shadowcat era):
Not exactly thinking of superheroes while working on this. Rendered it a few days back...
Not exactly a hero, but super and pretty...pretty crazy and pretty apt to stay that way. More to come.
Show the rest of her, please. ;-)
(And I think the lips could perhaps use a little more work...)
Has anyone heard from CD1
Yeah, that's the fault of my lighting set-up. They are colored lights which make her face ( it's "clown white, of course) look pink and too bright so some of the bump maps got washed out. The costume is done, but I was wanting to model a "pop-gun" and mallet before a full render, but when you say "please"...I'll try to get a full character render soon.
chazcc69,
I really like Joe Quick's Spider-man available at ShareCG http://www.sharecg.com/v/41804/gallery/11/Poser/M4-Comic-Style-Mask-and-Textures. I use it directly on M4 in Carrara. I had to tweak the shaders quite a bit, but it renders terrifically and the mask morphs are great.
Speaking of Joe has anyone heard from him lately
I think I read elsewhere that he's on a honeymoon trip or something like that?
interesting.
Sorry, laughing about something that is like a honeymoon without actually being one.
Back with a little more X-related playing around: Warren and Sean...
My latest still work in progress Isaiah Bradley Captain America. I am still messing around with the different textures and what not.
After this I am going try and do Falcon, Though I am going to change up his costume a bit.I never really liked it. The Original one is too disco, and the ultimate one is too plain.

And continuing on with some X-Men stuff... trying to keep key elements but at the same time place them more in the "real" world (so to say). For Beast I didn't quite like the all on blue fur ball approach but thought something more bestial than the original form presented in the comics (and Soto's great texture helped illuminate this direction):
Beast looks great
I am actually doing a beast scene only mine is much younger
late teens early twenties
Great work guys!
It's been a long time I didn't render a super hero. I've been working on a hulk morph for quite some time but it's still unfinished
I would like to thank both JohnDelaquiox and BrianP21361. I've got the JoeQuick M4 Spidey, But as you can see, I have absolutely no idea how to mat the mask or boots. Any advice will help. Thanks:)
chazcc69 do you know how to use the surface tab?
If you are using DS4 if you go into the materials tab under the libraries you can use them from there.
On any other version of studio I believe you may have to apply them manually
make sure you have the right files

Thank you so much, JohnDelaquiox, you forced me to learn... thank you. I had only ever worked with DAZ with the basic interface. There is so much more that can be done in advanced. You have my eternal gratitude:D
glad to help
here are some of my settings if you really want to learn
Bump and mapping I feel add the most realism to a texture along with normal mapping but normal mapping is still very nice to daz so it needs better implementation
To create a bump map I take the texture and open it in any software that can let you change it to a gray scale map
trans maps are also black and white
displacement mapping is a bit different from bump mapping so it can be used along side your bump
when applying the bump map and disp map I like to set them
at 25, 50, 75 all the way up to 100
and them -.10 minimum and .10 max and then I change it up to get different results.
Messed around a bit with stuff, and got a Spider-Girl... Still don't have boots for her, but here's a couple with her dad... Hope y'all like:)
Sorry, here's the other...:(
WOLVERINE - NAMOR - DAREDEVIL...
Some oldies that i can't remember if i have ever posted them here...;)
Always stunning stuff, and don't think I've ever seen that Wolverine before.
And to add something else here: Havok and Polaris:
Here are some Anti-Super heroes for you.
Bizzaro: Gee, Lex Luthor, what you want do tonight?
Luthor: The same thing we do every night, Bizzaro - try to take over the world!
Bizzaro: And destroy Superman?
Luthor: *sigh* Yes, Bizzaro...and destroy Superman...
