i'm giving up on my renders making money on zazzle.

You would need to advertise heavily to get any traffic on zazzle. Depending on your artwork there may be other places better suited. But even then you need to have a captive audience unless you are being commissioned.

i was going for cute, so i spent money on content like Cookie and Peaches, hoping to make some income with renders. epic fail

but, i don't know how to sell adult industry renders, either.
so much of it is free on the internet, i can't understand someone spending money on it.

but, on the topic, i think you would need to start with a figure not modeled in the T pose. starting with the 'riding a motor bike' pose would be a better start for the 'bottoms' position, imo.

I'm going to end this here because it's senseless circular discussion. They have studies that video games make people kill people, then there are studies that disprove it. You can support any bad logic with a bad study.

Were do you stop censoring? Salsa should be banned and tight jeans destroyed. I'm fortunate to live in a civilized country that only bans the expression of a single form of concept outright. I would hate to live in a country were it was easy for bad studies to dictate law. The law in my country is to protect people and their ideas. And the law says there isn't proof that an idea harms other people if it's not acted on. That's what I call civilized. But I know only a few countries in the world think that way.

I don't need people needlessly censoring any thought that comes out because some people find it offensive. Not a fan of mortal kombat but the games industry self regulates and has it's own rating system. Works for me, I don't need people banning it outright. I actually played MK as a kid and I don't rip peoples hearts out as an adult. When I do have time to play games they tend to be action oriented, but you don't see me running out in the street running over people with my car.

that is a challenge. Also even if you put stuff up for sale, it will be bootlegged within hours. :(

What they are spending money on is subscriptions to the galleries. Or content to make it. Nobody buys CG porn {supposition}, but it seems quite a few buy the content for making it.

edit to add " Not a fan of mortal kombat but the games industry self regulates and has it’s own rating system."

yes games have a rating system, that everyone ignores. And before you take it too far I see you don't know what I am referring to, if you did you would be on my side. Lets just say it involve the mill kids.

I'd like to point out an actual case. I have a cousin who will be under state supervision for the rest of his life for starting to play GTA at 9; because his dad had this "it's just a game" attitude. At twelve he started slapping women around when he didn't get what he wanted. Day 1 with his drivers license was an hour long police chase though yards and on sidewalk. No playing video games has no influence on people.

As SK already said, people do buy CG porn :) I know a few sites where I can see how much they make at it actually, and it saddens me I don't have a piece of the pie :( BUt my skills are in pinups and not action, so whatever.

porn sells better than pinups is why I would do it. extra $$ is extra $$. I get requests for porn here and there, and some times a "business" will offer work. But they aren't pro enough for me to work with. I tend to look them up and see if they are really about anything and most of the time it's some unheard of start up and I don't want to waste my time there. Besides doing work for other people isn't as fun and it's still a hobby for me. If i could make a few more beans on my hobby that would be cool though.

Thanks one and all! This is indeed a subject that is long overdue. But I'm interested in that line which separates art from porn, and how a site such as this navigates it.

Here's a quote from "Eroticism in Art" by Alice Mahon, (Oxford University Press 2005)

"Erotic art may draw on aspects of pornography, notably the depiction of sexual organs and sexual practices, but it does not do so for sexual arousal alone. It also plays on the aesthetic imagination, usually employing sexual imagery as a shocking means to express social, religious, and political criticism or defy bourgeois taste and it's conception of 'good' and 'bad' art."

Porn is in the eye of the beholder.

I'm just gonna quote Oglaf's creator, and this is as much tongue-in-cheek as her comics:

"Erotica: porn that works for you."

most hentai meets that oxford definition. But the whole "art" thing is overblown in general. Calling one piece art and another craft, trash or porn is just one's opinion. Art is really simple and people try to make it complicated or be elitist about it.

    No, it's the opposite actually.

    http://anthonydamato.law.northwestern.edu/Adobefiles/porn.pdf

    http://www.the-scientist.com/?articles.view/articleNo/28803/title/Porn--Good-for-us-/

It would seem you're a victim of mass-media hysteria against pron.

But to be fair, too much exposure isn't good either, as this shows:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2051902/Men-use-internet-porn-likely-hopeless-bedroom.html

But pron will still not lead to rape. That is a different issue, and not pursuant to this discussion.

So What? even if they are correct who gives a crap? I'm not specifically defending poser porn which is.... well very crude at best....But i do not accept the -"It offends me / might desensitized someone, so lets BAN IT" attitude. Because that is one hell of a can of worms to open, once you start, where do you stop?

It maybe be a 3d render, a movie, game or whatever, and it might depict something dispicable, but we can genernally accept it as relatively harmless on the grounds that it is simply 'not real' and nobody was actually harmed in order to create it. That is where common sense can draw a very clear line on what we can and cannot tolerate.

Everyone is each responsible for his/her indervidual actions. Why must we punish/deprive the vast majority of people who have no problems to differenciate between fantasy and reality, just because a minority of idiots cannot? (in which case they are prone to commiting some sort of violent act regardless of what they see in media which may/may or may not inspire / desenistize them.)

How's this for a fact, humans have commited violent acts against each other since they came into existance. Digital media has been around what? less than 30 years? It is ridiculous to calculate that the existance of this stuff will increase the likely hood of someone getting hurt or killed.
You ban / illegalise it and what? unstable people with violent fantasies will all just be forced in to extinction or a jail cell?
    Dream on.

Murder, rape and violence is illegal because its harms and kills people, fictious depictions of these acts are not illegal because fictious depictions do not physically hurt anyone.
I think our laws 'which support common sense while also upholding freedom of expression..... are just fine for dealing with the problem as they currently stand.

I'm not sure that's a meaningful statistic. It's hard to find real numbers, but I'm pretty sure the percentage of males with internet connections who look at porn on those connections approaches 300% (slightly fewer for women, who often prefer textual erotica). That's going to automatically include sex criminals.

Totally Irreliviant if you ask me, what exactly is the point they are making? are they suggesting that less children were suffering abuse prior to the existance of the internet? I sincerely hope not because that would be a laughable suggestion.
We do however, have alot more child protection laws in place now, and also thanks to the internet....we are catching these bastards alot more often. So thats a big fat double edged sword right there.
Yes, It might be a good informative artical, on the other hand it also might be fear mongering sensationalist garbage. (well.... it is the dailyfail) :)

When you here about something in the NEWS, that doesnt automatically mean it is something genuinely ' NEW', it could have been going on for centuries, but it either went undetected, nobody cared or it was too controversial for the public ...or a combination of all three.

Good flipping grief! Sex Offenders have a pre-disposition to LOOK AT PORN? Really? No kidding. Porn does not cause sexual abuse, and there is no evidence other than the idiot opinions of people who speak Psychobabble that says it does.

How we ended up with a ten page thread on the internet's biggest industry is anyone's guess. I've nothing real to add to the discussion except the old idiom 'sex sells'. That said, I tend to keep my renders on the clean side simply because the minute you add naked images to your portfolio that's precisely what most of your visitors will remember you for. Sad, but true.

What bothers me the most is why on earth would DAZ make every joint on V4 work properly but then completely neglect her butt? It doesn't make any logical sense. The texture stretching alone is extremely annoying. Then they don't even add extra geometry in case someone wants to fix their mistakes.

DAZ are you reading this? What the F man? Sorry, I'm just frustrated. My workload gets tripled because of this problem and I need to vent. Why here on this forum? Because DAZ made v4.2..

    I don't make porn.
I'm not here to condemn those who do.

Not likely. Your first mistake was promoting the Porn industry in your topic header. If you were aiming to get DAZ to ignore what you want, you went about it in the right way.

I was Pm'ed regarding this thread I guess somebody noticed my fantasy size related porn LOL! Some ppl do make it with live actors & actresses but the quality is inferior to what can be rendered. Made some decent side coin selling commissions. Its not all porn I also make 500 render episodes. Been using the Luxrender since lat feb. Deviant Art is anal about porn even though they have strict adult content fighters. Makes me wounder what they are for? Hiding naked Manga drawings? Flickr is ok as long as you apply the proper filters. I tweak most defects with PS. I have the "all ages" edited versions on youtube and its doing not too bad...

@tjohn, LMAO at Renderboy! I remember trying to decide between Vicki 1/2 and Posette myself, pulling either of them up now makes me realize just how far we've actually come. I'm surprised you got them looking even that good back then. :)
NVIATWAS (Or NV anywhere with anything) still has to be the most popular type of render. Not as bad as back then though- although I blame all the NV's then on people just not knowing how to make clothing yet, and decided naked was good enough for it instead :)
