We can still use A3 and A4 and even Hitomi if we want so I'm glad that A5 was unique. She's a good looking character and not only does she stand out from the "toons" of the past, but she is also dissimilar to S5/V5.

Since I like to do stylized characters I can see her getting a lot of use.

Well that's up for debate....I was hoping for more of an anime doll kind of face...or even belbel. But the base Aiko 3 and base Aiko 4 faces were always well... assuming they were just starting points rather than actually expected to be used as they were.

Aiko 5, seems a whole lot like Aiko 4.... would love to see a side by side genesis aiko 4 and genesis aiko 5 unskinned comparisons.

A5 is like a human doll, which is great. I wouldn't mind a new belbel type though, and a real chibi would get good too. But I didn't expect those from A5 necessarily. I don't really like the old belbel, but as a Genesis shape I could probably get her to look right. In theory bel is closer to some of my anime characters than any other shape, but for some reason she just looks off to me.

A5 and A4 have heads that are a bit different, and A5 has more details in the body. Similiar but A5 is certainly more modern.

    Tons of potential.

The PA Commercial Products forum has a couple of posts showing some of the "coming soon" products for Aiko 5 (Including mine, which I'm quite proud of, but the one I'm most excited about is from Silver & DemonicaEvillicus - a gorgeous character & outfit, go check out the Lorella thread!)

I mentioned this in another thread, A5 looks to be a cross between A4 and S5 as an ingenue cosplayer type which are everywhere these days.

I don't get why others are disappointed by it. It's not like there aren't other options for the purely anime crowd. A3 and A4 shapes for Genesis are available, as well as Hitomi which I think is pushed as the anime morph for Genesis (what with all the products and showcases that use that morph and partnering her with Hiro), and one could even argue Nata, Mavka, Jasmine, and Jazlyn already cover the ground of anime/cartoony/manga stylized figures. With that, I figure DAZ went with a different direction to fill a different niche.

Personally, I love the A5 look - here she is compared to the other anime shapes for Genesis...

Wow, that is really interesting. I'm not a big anime or magna person, but I wouldn't have guessed that A5 was at all anime inspired unless I knew better. The other three are clearly more stylized...A5 there could have been confused with S5 or something unless it was labled.

I'm not downing A5...I think that Hitomi probably does the heavily stylized look just fine. I'm interested in anything that expandes the Genesis genepool in a unique way. Looking forward to what people come up with for A5, even if it is a departure from earlier versions.

Only M5 and V5 doesn't look a whole lot like their previous version. 8-/
Aiko 5 looks great in the promos, I was even tempted to get her but she reminded me too much of Aiko 4. And I’m hesitant to buy Gen 5 characters now since Hiro 5 and Freak 5 looks exactly like their Gen 4 predecessors.

Now, without the textures and next to each other I can see they indeed look too similar again, but they made the head a bit less anime/manga which is an improvement for me. But still, it’s a very little change to justify her.
The head, even if the changes small, looks better than previous Aikos. The texture looks nice too. Again, I'm glad they went realistic for that. I don't like toon textures or 2D effects on 3D characters.I like more stylized figures than 2D wannabes, so maybe during a bigger sale.

Okay, let me preemptive strike this before it even begins to happen.

If you guys are going to critique this new character be civil and rational about it. I'm not saying anyone is doing this and I don't think you are, again JUST in case it finds a way of creeping into it...

I think that's up to moderators.

    I didn’t knew about Belbel.
Natu 3 looks nice in some images, and not so good in others, but I think she have something. Would like a figure like that.

I love the look of the latest Final Fantasy games. I'd like to see more characters like that in LuxRender or similar.

Since Aiko 4 is my favorite figure, i've been really waiting for the release of A5. (today was very difficult, bought her this morning and had to wait until i could go home from work to download and install ;) ).

At first look, she is really great, and a real great new character for genesis. Personally i'm glad she is not so toony. I think she is more an evolution from A4 (and a good one)!

Also the new products from the pro bundle are very good.

Only one remark, for those who are interested in the pro bundle. On that page the additional requirement for Tsukiko for Aiko 5 is not mentioned.

•Young Teens 5 Julie Morph is required for Tsukiko Shape 2.

It's worth noting that, much like Transformers, there's more than meets the eye when it comes to Genesis characters. They also have JCMs and MCMs to improve their posing and compatibility with staple morphs and expressions. With GenX, this is easy to compare. Included are screenshots that show all these types of hidden morphs for Aiko 3, 4 and 5 (all Genesis versions, obviously).

Notable from a difference standpoint is that Breasts Small, Breasts Heavy, and Voluptuous are all modified when used with Aiko 5. I've also included renders of her in her Regular, Breasts Small, Breasts Heavy, and Voluptuous states, respectively.

Thanks to Genesis, you can make A5 either close to or way different from A4.
I like that A5 is different from A4, I'm far more likely to do a FF style render than the old anime...

Kinda sad Aiko only comes with one head and body morph though. Played with her a bit during lunch and realized how little you get with her. I guess I fell for it though. Fortunately I got the pro bundle and hopefully that ends up working out, but the pro bundle didn't come packed as nicely as I wanted either but I think I can deal.

I guess I feel a bit underwhelmed overall, but I do like the new figure and some of the support content.

Not sure what I really was hoping to expect with Aiko 5 - to be honest, of the previous Aikos I love the look of Aiko 3 and couldn't care less about Aiko 4.

Aiko 5 is certainly more on the realistic side and it surprises a bit with how Hiro 5 turned out, as Hiro 5 fits to Hitomi quite well, but I don't see that connection with Aiko 5 at the moment - might be due to lack of renders with anime textures/shaders though. I'd agree that she is more looking like "Cosplay" or "Video game" overall, but that is also refreshing and might make her a better "Genesis mix" character in the end.

The first thing I was really impressed with was the base skin and make-up options. When I clicked on the main promo image for the pro package I was wondering which skin/make-up option was used. With that look I can easily imagine her going more "Goth" for example or "Video game villain" perhaps, like some renders already show.

More clothes, hair ... always a good thing, can't have enough of those, so pro bundle for me it is and I am not disappointed that she's not Aiko 3 - which we still got available for Genesis. I see Aiko 5 as being unique enough to play a strong role in the Genesis mix.

I hoped,,Aiko 5 is more realistic than Aiko 3 , and hope as more.
so I feel happy about the new Aiko looks ,,,:)
,, (sorry who want to hope A5 looks like more Anime character)

DAZ have released Hitomi, or jazmin etc already.

and we can mix them as we want. it is real strong point of genesis.
(on the other hand, I think genesis lose real " popular character " for every user)

but I think many user hope to make original shape. even though use daz popular figure as base.
    . (like character making)

I hope DAZ release as larsmidnatt said,, more character variation for A5 in March.
like S5 or V5,,, (I have not chacked bundle yet, but thanks dan shive,,

I do not like to buy many another character to use full of the product,,,
one character need another character shape B, character B need to get another shape C etc,,,,
    I sometimes think,,,
if we will need to buy 5 character for get one character which released for genesis ^^;)

thenI want more skin texture varietion for A5.

Nowdays I feel, texture (face cosmetic too) decide and change character looks
    more than shape,,,

Well, it's true, with the flexibility of Genesis and the ability to use V4 skins, Aiko 5 will be very flexible as well.

I even made her more like a friend next door than anime or game or much of anything else.

Unfortunately I accidentally saved over my first scene and can't finish it.....but I really really really like Aiko 5 and hope many support her no matter who they think she is.

two quickies. I didn't change her shape or face from default Used V4 skins, a Genesis outfit and a Teens one...

I like Aiko 5, but she's ironically less exciting to me than Freak 5. Freak 5 had a bunch of clothing and poses that could be used in a variety of realistic and unrealistic situations, a bunch of head morphs that came with him, the "super" variation, and a whole mess of physical options available for sale right off the bat.

Freak 5 was a variety unto itself. Aiko 5 isn't bad, but for a "Gen 5" figure, she's really lacking in versatility. If I were judging her on the basis of a 3rd party figure, I'd be saying nothing but praise, but I was hoping for more. Even Hiro 5 came with more options, even if those were basically Hiro versions of Hitomi's face morphs.

Aiko is Aiko 5 100%, the boy is 76% Aiko 5 head and some of 3Dproclivity's Hiroism.

I like this morph quite a bit and can see me using it a lot for both male and female.
This one uses the Azumi face morph with some V5 supermodel dialed in and the Tsukiko textures.

So this is the A5 thread? Is nothing pinned?

Anyway, I loaded up A3 Realistic just to check. I think they were trying to go more in this direction, which I think is great. We didn't have that ability short of GenX and we certainly didn't need another copy of A3base/A4base.

But the body... kinda lumpy and hippy? Aiko's always been pretty hippy but I don't understand what the overall look is supposed to be. It doesn't seem like a very youthful body whereas the face (especially with the promos for 3dcelebrity's facial expressions) looks almost childlike.

So what's next, Girl 5? Once DAZ runs out of things with brand name recognition I really hope they put some effort into carving out distinctive new niches.

That seems to be a thing with some video game characters, to have a delicate dolly face on top of a big curvy body. Kasumi from the DOA franchise is an example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Kasumi_DOA5.jpg .

And then there's the totally crazy world of Asian Ball-Jointed Dolls (speaking as an addict, myself): http://www.volksusa.com/ddim028.html

I can see the latter (looks very expensive!)

The thing with the DOA girls, is that they aren't that hippy, or at least the waist isn't pronounced. And you can't see musculature in their abs. So I think they manage to look pretty young, despite being busty.

There's probably other video game characters that are closer to A5 but they just haven't caught my eye :o

I really don't care which 'genre' Aiko 5 matches or doesn't. Does it really matter? She's Genesis and we can use her the way we want to, the way that fits our own style best. We do have some dependence on (and input into) what PAs may consider her direction, though, so it's not an entirely pointless conversation. But in the end the universe of clothing styles, sets and backdrops, and our own imaginations (derivative or not) will guide us best.

I was wrong in my thinking before her release and I'm happy about that. Think of the other major releases. Each has its specific style and look. V5, the super model beautiful woman, Hitomi the cute and spunky anime, H5 the capable anime male, M5 the metro, F5 the hulky good or evil, etc. Aiko 5 is more universal and the one we can truly make our own. And though A3 looked anime out of the box, she was used for much more and styles varied user to user and that flexibility was a huge appeal. I think A5 will have that same impact.

    At least for me.
