I found myself humming this for some reason. Sometimes I get a nice "song" in my head and I hafta write it down. I haven't done this in years ^_^
    Quite pleased with it actualy~
I hafta name them or it feels empty to me. =)

    Origin of Dreams
I open my eyes, I look across the sea
Peering into the heart of fantasy
I open my heart, I see the gods of ages past
Flights of fantasy, a journey to the stars
Raised a kingdom to stand the test of time
    Beyond a dream

    Childhood innocence, dreams a thousand
Gone in an instant, the blink of an eye
My kingdom in ruins, my dreams shattered like glass
I reach out for a loving hand
    In the darkness of night

I stand silently gazing at the stars
A beautiful ocean, a web of light
    Defying the dark eternally
A beacon of hope to me

Sentinels in the darkness of night
    Watching the future unfold
    Seeking the tales untold
    Watching the ages go by
    Finding the origin of dreams

    Together again, united at last
    The beauty of childhood dreams

I open my eyes, I look to the sky
I found a dream, in the ashes of my youth
    Memories sweet, dreams sweeter still
Reached for the warmth, dived into the past
Raised a kingdom to stand the test of time
    From a dream of mine

    ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH :bug: :bug: :bug:

I can get Vue 11 Studio for $259 for the next 3 days! :ahhh: :ahhh:

Is ti worth it? Should I go for it? Should I get my head examined? :ahhh: :ahhh:

Vue 11 Studio for less than the cost of a night at the strip club! :ahhh: :ahhh:

I should probably pass on it, given my circumstances.. sigh. :blank: :blank:

*edit* Bah, nevermind - not going to be a CG pro, I'll save my money.

...well I just DL'd the PLE version of Vue Infinite11. This is the full programme, sans network rendering, that is available for personal use. No proof of student/faculty status required. This is just one of the software tools used in the creation of Avatar. If I am hoping to save up for a true pro grade app like this, I really want to know how to use it first.

Funny! Where are those studio lights from? And why is the inside of the umbrella black? The light is shining on that, or is supposed to be. It just looks odd to me...I was a photographer, so I noticed right away, sorry.

    Dana

They're preset models that came shipped with Cinema 4D. Came with the lights and an xpresso setup so I move a null object and the lightbox (And the light) follows. Can control the intensity and color of the lights by clicking on the object as well.

As for why the back of the umbrella is black... Well that's apparently because of the texture I used on it. Was a Diffuse texture and thus only showed up on the front normals =/ I didn't bother to change it to a material with two-sided capability or transparency.

The C4D native materials it works just fine. Was just some poor decisions I made in Indigo Render XD

...Complaint: well just had a slight power outage (the converter brick is old and the connection to the notebook is a bit flaky at times). After getting everything powered back up (for some reason there was no low battery warning which I had to go in and reset after boot up) everything was running in super slow motion mode even though I was at the hotspot. Killed the download I was in (would have been corrupted anyway by the power down) and when I restarted, it was crawling at less than a quarter of the usual speed for this location. Fortunately I remembered my USB modem and am now on that (works much better here than at home).

The annoying thing, this cost me not one but two download tries for some reason.

Change is rantworthy because it usually isn't as good as a holiday

Don't think more changes to this will be fruitful right now, so I'm going to have a holiday from it ;)

...but, but, guys? Grown men? Who normally would be working on a hot rod project in the garage or cruising on a Harley to meet together at the local Starbucks on a Saturday for a couple rounds of Lattes?

I like cute (or I wouldn't love all the kitteh pictures posted around these forums) but even I have my limits.

Let me put it this way:

Lauren Faust (the mastermind behind such things like Powerpuff Girls) wrote the show as a literal all-family show. She was tired of the attitude "it is for girls, therefore it must suck" and "it is for girls, therefore it has nothing to offer to men or boys". She felt that it was important that girls have dad-time as well, while watching the shows girls like. Her goal was to write something that grown men could watch without tearing their hair out in frustration.

    So she wrote it smartly.

Let me summarize the pilot episodes (Season 1, episodes 1 & 2), like I'd describe a guys' show (obfuscating gender of characters intentionally):

So the main character is getting booted off their regular hangout, to some backwater village where an epic magical ceremony is taking place during Summer Solstice and they are in charge of getting it right, and their mentor (who will be there) is all "for f***'s sake, get some friends while you're at it, you miserable shut-in, there's more in this world than just books, and this is an order".

However, the main character has done some research in secret, and found that an unholy menace from a distant past will be released that day, when the stars are right. And now they fret that there may not be enough time to stop that from happening.

The main char (and the sidekick) get accosted by local people, and five of them take really big fancy of the main character, whereas their interest is business alone, get this done and then get back to the royal stomping grounds where they came from.

Surprise, surprise! The ceremony begins, and the aforementioned mentor who was supposed to perform the epic magic ritual is not there, but the baddie shows up! And they have taken away the uber-magical mentor, and now they bring darkness eternal over the land. Cue gloating and mocking, exit stage right.

So the main character rushes to their library to do research, only to find the five support characters there, demanding answers. Together, they deem that the only way to stop the night eternal is to find six ancient artifacts from a danger-filled forest. The main character insists that they are going there alone, this is their responsibility, but the other five say they will stick along, they're sure as heck not going to let them down.

They head to the said danger-filled forest, which is, actually, pretty dangerous.

A landslide nearly takes out the main character by throwing them off a cliff, and they can be saved only if they trust someone they just met.

They encounter a vicious manticore, but one of them understands what's wrong with it, and tames the feral beast by plucking out a thorn from its paw.

The dreaded enemy casts a spell which transforms the forest into a nightmare filled reality with twisted, menacing trees; only one of them realizes that there's nothing to be afraid of, and counters the effect the best way they know it, so they can continue their progress onward.

A river is flooded by a grieving, weeping dragon, and they aren't willing to harm the creature; one of them finds a way to soothe the feelings of the dragon, who offers them a way across the river.

A rope bridge has fallen into disuse, and needs to be fixed; their bravest and most loyal member flies across to fix it, only to be tempted by the dark one's offers while sequestered away from others. But they know what's the right thing to do, and reject it.

The party finds their way to a mysterious, ancient castle, where the artifacts are kept. The main character tries to use their magic to restore the artifacts to their former glory, but the dark enemy shows up and tells they should give up, it is impossible. Instead, the main character challenges the bad one to a duel, charges at them, and at the last moment uses a short-range teleport spell to rush to the artifacts, and reignite them, but fails.

The bad one crushes the fragile items, and all seems lost.

Then, the main character hears the rest of the companions coming along, and realizes something about the true nature of the artifacts they were set out to find. Magic pours out of them, and picks up the shards of artifacts, floating them around the other five. The enemy notes that they're lacking the sixth -- magic -- which makes it impossible to rejuvenate the artifacts.

To which the main character retorts that magic is born out of those five, and then manifests the sixth artifact, pulling the power for it from their own soul.

As light engulfs the dark enemy, they claim their victory; the mentor remanifests, freed from their prison, and then they discover that the curse placed on the enemy has been dispelled, and it turns out that they are the mentor's younger sibling. There's forgiveness, and reunion.

The said mentor reassigns the main character to a new duty, after they express reluctancy to leave the village and their new friends. They are to stay there and study the properties of the artifacts found.

There. How does that sound like?

Bronies is a pretty well-known phenomena, and while certainly it's unusual it's not as bad as some bizzarities! :bug:

MLP is a halfway decent show, watched a few last weekend. It's not as cool as Thundercats, but it's OK.

    ...now I can grok Thundercats.

Also enjoyed Samurai Jack & Courage the Cowardly Dog when I still had a telly.

You know there is a Brony convention in Austin? I think it is held in August (ugh, what a time to be dressed head to foot in a fuzzy costume).

Hah, I didn't know about the con! But yeah.. August in Austin.. 105+.. my little melted pony! :bug:

I owned Vue Esprit back in the day, it was fun to play with but had some real annoying limitations, Vue 11 looks incredibly powerful, but since this is just a hobby there's no way I can justify the expense. :blank:

Have fun with the PLE! :)
