Yeah, the closest I have heard to tutoring, is online webinars. Maybe you will get lucky though, and find someone willing. Good luck.

Thanks but I think skype could do the trick too.

I can't be the first person to have come up with this idea??  Am I???   Now I'm starting to worry.

Well Agent..  I would go something like this if I must be the one who removes the fog.

Using skype they would call my skype account.

Then they talk and they point and I do what they do...  Or I ask questions and they answer them and can even give immediate examples..

    It ain't rocket science.

Yes, I understand what you are looking for with Skype (you might want to use screen sharing instead of a webcam, it'll be clearer). I just dislike voice chatting and phone calls generally. I don't even own a webcam. I hope you find someone who can help.

You aren't, I've just never heard of a professional DAZ tutor.

All it takes is one brave soul who still likes to communitcate by voice rather than text.  I'm sad that person will not be you because you seem like the kind of person who could easily pull it off.. And have coin to show for it. cheeky

Hi, I'm also a newbie, but I think I know how to do basic things with Daz Studio. I can help you for FREE until you find a tutor. PM me?

    PM on the way. ;)

Instead of wasting your money on one on one training where you may not know what questions to ask, I would suggest watching this seriees of free tutorials. After that, get in and experiment. If you have questions, come back and ask them in the forums. If you must pay for training, there is a section of the store dedicated to tutorials. You can also find free tutorials on YouTube.

I've been doing this for five years and my Art Studio thread (soon going on Thread 10, we're on page 100 as I speak) has a page full of links to tutorials we have all done here in the forums, and it's alphabetical by topic. Start with this one, it's step by step explaining how to render a scene in Iray, with all the settings and an explanation.  Here's one on lighting a portrait with point lights. The list goes on, just use those links and you've got step by step tutorials with images. No charge.

    Tutorial, tutorial, turotiral...

The problem is just getting started and being shown the ropes.  DAZ is different from Poser.  You probably already know that as well as I do.  So I'm looking for somebody to do the quick drive by presentation on how you negotiate the everyday occurances....   In Poser.. It's load you figure, bring in the clothing. or  bring in the morphs and skin textures, either way first...  The conform the clothing, then parent the clothing..  Then pose them..  Bring your props and scenes... Ok

Then set your Render Engine to the proper rendering resolution...  Then Render.  Whaa laa!

I dont know if DAZ works exactly like that and even if I did, I don't know how to go about doing it in DAZ...  A tutorial will spread that information all over the place where a Tutor could quickly walk me through that and have me up and running..

This is why I wish a tutor and not a laborous tutorial...  Fair enough?

Actually, the tutorials I linked lead you through what you say you want. I would suggest watching them and then see if you have any more questions.

I came to DS after  using Poser for just shy of 20 years. Even though it's different, most things work the same way...lights generally, posing, morphing...only the way to it is different. It only took me about 6 months until I had my head around it pretty well just by trial and error (yes, I'm one of those that will push buttons just to see what they do....lol). As long as you don't move the folders around in your Daz content folder(s) and a small number of others things, you should be good to go just by experimentation alone. But, as others have said, there's always someone hanging around the forums, and if you ask a question, there's usually someone who knows the answer.

Daz 3D also has a forum designed expecially for people like you
    https://www.daz3d.com/forums/categories/new-users

With many helpful people posting there, led by some selected by Daz as Cummunity Volunteers, who are there just to help you get started with your New Software.

It only took you 6 monts???  How do I say F that without coming across offensively????   I'm thinking...  It'll come to me just give me a sec....

Oh well, I'd like to be up to speed in a month or so so please forgive me for wanting to cut that curve time by as much as I'd like to.  And I'm well aware that a tutor can do that for you. ;)

  • I think it would be useful to know what timezone you are in, and how many hours per week of tutoring you are looking for, also would it be daytime?, evenings?, weekends?

What would you expect to be able to achieve after one month? Can you show examples of the kind of results you want?
