Did you know Christian can fly?

    (He flew into my cart...)

Oh? Yes, he never got the time to fly before he was in my cart. I just grabbed him and ran ;P

Darwin, first of all.. BIG thanks for putting the switch eye shader button in Liam, it works on Christian too. I assume it would work on other characters when needed as well :)

I asked in another thread as well, but figured I could ask here too. I can't render the chromatic eyes, they turn up empty for me, but mono works perfectly well. I think I have the latest version of Studio (in the about studio thingie it says 4.10.0.123) so is there something else which is required to render chromatic? And what is the difference between chromatic and mono/old one? :)

Well hello.... *tilt head, let eyes roam, smirks* must be pretty darn well equipped to keep those up hm? *eyes pants*

*teasing grin* he look nice, the low cut pants are certainly drawing eyes :) really like the body hair!

He's part of the Family or more like Kyle and Stryker? Who both worked in some pub if I remember correctly? *tilt head* that actually make me curious, are those part of the story so to say, or are they from something else entirely?

    Ha.

He is part of the story, but nothing to do with the Family, or Stryker's business.   Much later.  He is a violinist, and what we have dubbed a protector.  Warrior/bodyguard type.  That's all I can say about that for now.  :)

INteresting ... Is that fibermesh hair on his body that you're making for him or another product from someone, textured hair, or something else?

See Changling Chick's comment. ;)  It is fibermesh, yup!

being extremely new to 3D modeling i have a question.  the figure Athana is remarkable.  Are her add ons,  tattoos, anatomical elements, eye liner, and other make up options usable on your other Gen8 females or on G8F that i create?  Can they bu used like head and body morphs?

Athana is a Genesis 8 female character. Like all G8F characters, her materials can be applied to other G8Fs. If you create your own female morph based on the G8F character, you can apply Athana's materials to her for your own use. You cannot create a character for sale and use the Athana materials. Athana is not a Merchant Resource. (This is true of characters and their materials in general. To use something as part of your own product, it must be a Merchant Resource. I'm not suggesting that's what you're asking, just covering all the bases.)

The Tattoos will be part of the skin materials, so can only be used on another character if you use Athana's materials. In fact, most options for a character, from brow colors to makeup to tattos, are applied to a copy of the relevant skin materials. Athana does use L.I.E. makeup presets. Those use the "Layered Image Editor" within Daz Studio to apply a layer over the existing face texture, so those can be used on other G8F characters: They do not require the Athana face materials in order to work.

For both G8F and G8M, the Geograft mesh that makes up the anatomical elements are only available when you purchase a Pro bundle of an adult character. The Teen Josie 8 Pro Bundle, for example, does not come with anatomical elements. Athana includes materials for the Daz anatomical elements, and the settings that match those materials to the base Translucency settings.

Darwin does have tattoo products for sale in the store that use LIE and can be used on any G8F character, as well as one for the G8M and two for G3M characters here

    I hope this helps.

Thank you!!  I appreciate the assist. Been busy over heah.  lol Sorry I missed the question, but L'Adair's got that answer perfect!

    Flying, concussions--the abuse.  XD

Ah- I know why it's not working for you.  The original, default shader system on his eyes will only work if there is an environment map in the Render presets- the HDRI maps gives the Chromatic shader system something to reflect and not give you the artifacts and blank areas where the eyes are. The Mono will work with the environment mapping system in the Iray render engine or without.  Just remember if you want to use the default eye materials, make sure there is an environment map in the Render Tab/Environment slot.

The chromatic shaders give the eyes better depth and overall look once they are rendered out- I prefer the way they render to the mono.  Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for the answers Dar, that makes a bit sense. Will try those eyes in a render soon enough :) I do like the sound of fibermesh hair from CC too... *looks at CC* very itneresting indeed.. I just hope it doesn't come too soon.. so I have to wait too long until next pay to pick it up lol

Hm.. David sounds interesting, a violinist that is also a protector/bodyguard, will be fun to see and hear more about him (and all the story really hahah. The tidbits we have been given has gotten be hooked on it :) )

And yummy.. it may hurt, but... it might be worth it? *grins* looks good :)

You also need to have Draw Dome on. I always load my characters first, and my default scene file uses the DS default HDRI so there is always a map in the Environment setting unless I specifically change the Environment Mode. If I don't set Draw Dome to On, I get the blank eyes, too.

Giuseppi is one very versatile character. He looks really good as a warrior. I love how you kitbash your own characters. It's so obvious you have as much fun creating images as the rest of us. (Maybe more so, as you have partnered with other PAs and get to play with products not yet released. Yeah, I'm "a bit" envious. lol) As someone special once told me, "Keep 'em coming!"

  • DarwinsMishapDarwinsMishap Posts: 4,087

Thanks, L'Adair.  I do- the kitbashing was how I started all of this in 2007-trying to make my own characters and swapping FtoM clothing.  It's amazing to me how far I've come with it, even now.

    Very nice ones :)

Also.. Darwiiiiiin... Christian is EVIL *pouts*...... Every time I try to make a render with him, he is just not satisfied with my thoughts but end up making it Much more than I planned.. I've started three different scenes, and not finished one of them yet... cause he's always wanting more

He's fun to play with though *grins wickedly*

So there is no other option for the eyes except to render them with draw dome on?  That's too bad, since I render 95% of just about everything with it off since I need the background to be transparent.  Not a deal breaker at all though.

Ah, not quite- you know me better.  In the Eye material folders, there is a "Switch" material preset.  This changes the shader system from Chromatic to Mono- and you do not need the Environment settings (draw dome) on.

So is David very dark -- high translucency? -- or is that just the lighting?

  • DarwinsMishapDarwinsMishap Posts: 4,087

That's the base-it's at .5 or 50%, so it's mainly the lighting in that one, but he is tan/brown based.  There is a lower setting and another, higher setting to choose from, though.

    New render!

So- next round of testing went to Ichiban with the randomizer!  David is being tested while I render icons/dial cards-or the system does, so that means I'll probably not be on the rest of the day.  Hope everyone has a good one!

I have been dying to show this one off.  I had to wait until Jepe's Cinematic Poses and Props 2 came out today but I think this is one my favorite male renders so far.

Thank you!  There is actually quite a good  variety, although they can take a bit longer to render due toall the shiny surfaces.  But they are very easy to use and are quite versatile.

That looks great, IceDragon, and I really love the curly hair on him.

Damn... Does anyone else see a lighter skinned version of Eric Killmonger (from the Black Panther movie) here?

  • IceDragonArtIceDragonArt Posts: 12,548

Thanks Llynara, I was pleasantly surprised at how good that hair looks.

Thank you Daywalker.  I haven't seen the movie so I can't say yes or no.  I haven't got past the Damn...to be honest lol.  He really renders beautifully
