Write your own story with the Fairytale Book, use the included light Text Editor to bake your own text as texture, use the additional textures to give a new appearance to the prop, or use it to build your own Photo Album!
The package is perfect for any static render but it is ideal for animation! See the video in youtube to get a short idea of the product.
Soon in DAZ store!

Oh this looks great! I am constantly looking for a fantasy /magical book and this will allow me to tailor it into exactly what I need. Very cool!
Super cool! Although there are a few book models with flipping pages out there, the ability to add your own text and images to it makes your model a trully great and flexible product. Excellent idea.
I like this. Newbie question: can different fonts be applied by the user using the text editor?
You had me at fairytale! Looks great!
Any chance you could give us some horror style covers? And maybe some old page textures?
Hi Comets. You can apply one font per page. Each sheet has two pages (even and odd), so you can apply a font for the odd page and a different font for the even page. (See video link from 0:30-0:48). Due to the baking process the Text Editor has some limitations:
– Each page must have a uniform font (font family, style, size and color).
– No paragraph editing (align, line spacing etc).
– You have to wrap the words manually.
Hi Riggswolfe. I have an old page texture in the main package. The Fairytale Book also includes the .psd files to make your own textures (cover, inner pages and folding pages .psd files) so you can customise your maps. There is a 'Setup Script' so you can customize easilly your custom maps! I am linking the included textures, and the script screens:
The 'Setup Script':
I'm pumped!
If this is still under construction, I would love to see a calendar-type prop as part of the set. I could really use a customizable pinup--oops, I meant nature and wildlife--calendar.
Hi Blind Owl.
I am sorry but the product is not under construction! It's almost ready to be released!
Ah well, it was just a thought. Can't wait to plunk my money down.
Very nice MikeD. Thank you!
Looks great. Already in the queue.
Looks great the animated addon looks awesome but would take forever to render the animation on my computer
Well dkgoose! There are some tricks you can use to render the animation faster, especially if you use a video-editor!
- Fisrt of all you may render just the background of the scene and then delete it. Then render the whole animation of the book without a background. Add the background to your video-editor.
- Another thing you may do, is render the animation up to the first turn of page 1. Then render the turn of page 2 ....etc. At the end you can render the outro of the animation. In the video editor put the sequenses in that order with a gap between them that will show the last image of the preview sequense. With that trick you may have whatever interval time you want (the time of the gaps) between turn pages, in order to present the current page images. With that trick you won't render the same image (between the turn pages) multiple times!
- You may render it at lower resolusion, or at lower quality, things that will reduce the render time.
- Render it at 3Delight. The 3Delight rendered faster in my PC than Iray without big difference in the quality!
Of course you may compine the above ideas for better resaults.
Don't forget to render as images-sequence in Studio so if Studio crashed you won't have to render the animation again up to this point!
I hope I helped a little with the animation!
Write back for any additional information you want!
Thanks a lot!
As I mentioned in the commons thread, his is one of the coolest things I've seen for Daz Studio. Grabbed it (the bundle), thanks for this!
Thank you very much tj_1ca9500b for the purchase, and for the Review of my Book (I just saw your commons thread answer). I like your image attachments very much ..... I hope you enjoy the book a lot.
Hello,
is there any special to work the script???
It does not work on my computer!
Martina
Hi Martina!
You need DAZ studio 4.10+ and the files to be in their original locations in the content Library (I am gonna make a modification to see any custom stucture Library tomorrow)!
Hello,
4.10.0.107 Pro
The files are on original locations...
...but I install it manually
Hmmm, I don't know if it has to do with manual installation. Try install it through DIM and upload a screen-capture of the error if the problem persits!
Post or pm me the resaults please. I realy would like to know!
Thanks for the feedback!
I just read this and thought I would chime in on the suggestion. many users don't use DIM, myself included so installing an addon with it when they wouldn't normally use it would not be an option. Hopefully the installation method isn't the issue for the user and they get it figured out.
BTW great looking product and on my buy list, hope it does well for you!
Hi Michael,
Yes indeed you are right about DIM! I found it as a possible cause of the problem, the time I read Martina's comment, but I see your point and you are right. I wanted everyone to be able to use the product at once and it looked a good solution at that time. Maybe a better solution would be to install it to a new clean Library folder, so the problem gets isolated and tracable, until I get in touch with Martina to specify the nature of the problem, but it didn't come in my mind that time.
Thanks a lot for the comment and that you like this product!
Just a quick note for those considering the purchase of this product.
The animation addon comes with 'preset' books of varying lengths (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30 pages), with the default 'page flip delays' and such already worked out, so you can simply click on the book .duf of the appropriate length, and then start working on the individual pages, if you don't want to mess with varying the page flip intervals and such to start as you familiarize yourself with the product.
It works pretty well 'out of the box', and you can get started pretty quickly. It's the 'hunting down pics and deciding what text you want to add to the various pages' part that takes time, just like if you were laying out a book in real life...
Hi, I have a few questions:
1. If I create each page exactly as I want in Photoshop, including the paper page itself, can I just upload the jpg to replace the entire page?
2. Can I change the size of the book, make it thinner to look like a magazine and still have images (my own full pages created in Photoshop) work and use in an animation?
3. If I've never animated before, is there enough documentation on how to do it?
4. Is there lighting included? I have no idea how to light for animation and will probably have to render in 3DL which I have no idea how to light...
Thanks! It looks great, just not sure if I'll be capable of using it without any knowledge of animation and if it fills my need to include my own full pages created in Photoshop...
Definitely helpful thank you :)
Hi Alicia,
First of all @tj_1ca9500b answers in the commons thread (https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/244461/the-fairytale-book#latest) cover me at all, and as English is not my native language @tj_1ca9500b may gave a better description that I would. (Thanks a lot @tj_1ca9500b for the review and all the help answering so many questions!).
Now in addition of @tj_1ca9500b answers, I could say:
1) Yes, you can. The product has 3 .psd files so you can make your own maps. One file for the cover, one for the inner pages (the ones attached to the back of the cover) and one for the folding pages (the ones that can be rotated) You can find them in 'Your Library\Runtime\Textures\MikeD\Fairytale Book', or by clicking the respective buttons in the main script (see attachment 05).
In the 'Folding pages' .psd all you have to do is to uncheck the 'Base/Difuse Maps' layer and just add your own map (see attachments 01, 02).
In the 'Inner pages' .psd I recomend you to make a mask in order to keep the 'sides' textrures of the book, and add a hue/saturation adjastment layer (colorize on), in order to match the color of your pages to the 'sides' of the book (see attachments 03, 04).
Save your files.
Change the Diffuse/Base map of the custom pages or let the 'Settings' script do it for you (see attachment 06), and you are ready!
2) I don't suggest scale the book in individual axes (I have turn them hidden by default), as there will be problems with the morphs. (Left book is 100% scale and the right one is 50% in the next images)
You can scale the X axis safely, with the cost of distortion in the textures (see attachment 07).
The Y and Z axis scales causes problems to the book geometry (see attachments 08, 09).
You can certainly scale the book uniformly (this option is visible to the user) without problems or distrortions (see attachment 10)!
So no, you can't scale only one axis to make the book thinner like a magazine. You can scale it overall, but not in individual axes.
3) The animation of the Photo Album is automated as @tj_1ca9500b mention. The packege has some preset animated books (5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 pages preloaded) and a script that let you build your own animation in a very straight forwarding way (see attachment 13). There is also an 'instruction' script so you will have documentation without leaving DAZ Studio (see attachment 11).
4) Yes, there are lights for Iray (emissive) and 3Delight (spot light). I suggest you load one of the ready scenes for Iray or 3Delight and adjust the lights if you like (see attachment 12). You can add an hdri as well in the 'enviroment' tab.
I hope I covered your questions.
Thank you (and also @tj_1ca9500b)
Mike!
MikeD,
I figured it was a timezone thing, and that you might be resting when Wonderland posted those questions, so I did the best I could. The timer was running out on the March Madness sale, so I figured Wonderland needed some sort of answers fairly quickly, and it looks like Wonderland ended up grabbing the product, so hopefully it all worked out in the end.
I'll say again that you've done an amazing job on this product, and it works quite nicely for it's intended purpose!
Hello Mike,
here are the Screenshots
All scripts went the same way!
