Thanks Ben. That worked on Aiko, but not on Genesis. On Genesis I still get the error and the boxy figure. But at least I can play with some of the content.

Have you checked if files DS is looking for are at that locations? Or they are really missing (not at that locations)?

I have the Aiko3 figure and the Genesis figure working now. But the Genesis2 is not working. I can NOT find the dsf file. That's what the error says I'm missing. I need to keep looking.

OK. I uninstalled the genesis2. Rebooted my computer. And reinstalled it. There's a dsf file in the folder, but I'm still getting the error and boxy figure. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day. I have to hit the sheets now. I'm exhausted from a long busy day. Thanks for your help so far.

Ah, if you look at the top of the viewport, to the right of where it says "Perspective" (or whichever camera you're using) is a pull-down menu -- it currently shows 3 boxes, which means Solid Bounding Box. Change it to Texture Shaded.

Edit: Sorry, I see you've already got that taken care of. What is the full path to the Genesis2Female.dsf?

I checked those links cecilia. I uninstalled everything and reinstalled the program and gen and gen2 using the DIM.

This is what I wrote to the help desk...

Now I'm getting the boxy figure for both Gen and Gen2. I have 'tex shaded' checked.

Here's the path for both folders...

Libraries, docs, daz3d, studio, my library, content,, data, genesis, base (there's a dsf in here. Same path for genesis2 female.

Libraries, docs, daz3d, studio, my library, content, people, genesis ( do dsf file, but there's a duf file in here. Same path for genesis2 female.

I uninstalled aiko3 because I don't want anything else installed till I get the genesis stuff straightened out. thanks.

You should NOT have a folder called 'content' inside the My Library folder. DIM does not use the content folder at all, it empties it into the correct folders, so I don't see how you could have used DIM. You may have downloaded the cotnet using DIM, but you did not install it using that method.

Your paths should look like the following :

Libraries, docs, daz3d, studio, my library, data, genesis, base
Libraries, docs, daz3d, studio, my library, people, genesis

Copy everything in the 'content ' folder and paste it one level up, so that it is all directly under the My Library folder as shown above, then it will work.

You appear to have them the wrong way round!

The ones in your first image which you have in My Library > People > Genesis > Base, should be in My Library\data\DAZ 3D.

The folders that you have in 'data' should be in My Library > People

I'll reverse them later this evening and see what happens. Thanks.

I reversed the files. But I had to add a DAZ3D file in the data file and then put gen in that. Things seem to be working now. Time will tell. I have to reinstall some content to play with first.

Thanks for all your help everyone.

Well... I tried to install some genesis content, but it all must be going to the wrong folders as I get the boxy clothing. I did get the Journey Scout pants to show up, but they had no color. This is all just too weird. I wish I new of someone in my area that could sit and the computer with me an help me sort this out. I am beyond frustrated. Looks like I'll have to us DAZ3 on my old PC if I really want to create in DAZ.

I spent several hours reading thru the help section and looking for tutorials, but I had no luck there. I've tried installing content MANUALLY and with the DIM. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Anything that you have installed with the DIM can be easily found. All you have to do, is go to the Installed tab in DIM, select an item, right click on it, and select Installed Files, that will tell you exactly where all of the files have been installed to.

Where is your DIM installing content into? The right click option just mentioned will tell you that.
Is the library that DIM is installing into listed as a DAZ Studio AND Poser Formats folder in the Content Directory Manager?

Looks like it installed into the Public Documents instead of My Documents. I don't know why Windows 7 has so many documents folders. I didn't realize that's where the stuff was being put into. Is there a way to redirect in DIM? I tried to do it manually and got those stupid boxes again.

    I really appreciate your help.

Click the Gear in DIM, go to the Installation tab, and click the "+" in the lower left to add a new folder, then set "Current" to that folder.

Here is a Short Tutorial on how to set DIM to any Content Folder. Please read it fully, you may not need the first step as it was done for another member. There are 5 posts to the full thing.
