hung over on life in general? :)

kinda empty at the dayjob today. but it means there's no emergencies or doodoos hitting fans.

35 years ago i envisioned myself as the one Not making the cawffee. but turns out i really don't mind. co-w pour a cup, real halfie-half, sipss, and go back to their workbench a lil bit more relaxed. that's worth something, imo.

Complaint: WAY too much beer, WAY too many sausages. Didn't sleep late enough. Drinking lots of coffee and water. Renders taking forever, ships underwater, feh!

Non-complaint: no real hangover! Just thirsty. I think I have all the ships above water now (lol). Plenty of food and drink left to not have to leave my place all day. Nap time this afternoon!

I hope everyone is having a great day!

computer is rebooting while windows is loading again. i might open my computer's case and check to see if anything is loose inside.

i may also reinstall Windows and the drivers. if my computer continues to reboot then i will end up buying a new computer. hopefully the motherboard or CPU isn't going bad. those two components are hard to replace. i have a hard time findy find any AMD socket 939 motherboard or CPU anywhere.

I wonder if the external hard-drive is having issues with Windows or the motherboard. hmm.

Mu guess would be your hard drive is going bad. Last time Ihad a desktop system, I started getting symptoms just like yours, and every day the bad sector list got worse - I finally backed it up, bought a new one, reinstalled Windows and everything and the system purred happily along another 2 years before I give it away.

If chkdsk keeps fixing it, that's my bed. HDDs don't last forever, alas. (frown)

Two minor whines: first, Fastgrab got me! The Geneesis Ethnicity bundle was on sale for $12, so.. I bought it! Second, I'm out of dill pickle relish! Argh!

Render, render, drink coffee, pose models, render, render, render. Think about Olaf. That's today!

No emails from the boss so I'm thinking no freaking emergencies to deal with, I can chill today and just... slack! (giant grin)

Beer later.. not as much as yesterday... uurrppp!

Almost good - into another render, I wanted one of the ships to look like it were sinking and it didn't come out quite right, so I'm re-rendering. IF this one looks good, I'll post it.

Loving on Breaking Waves - a good environment really helps sell the image, even if it's a totally unbelievable scene.

Loving instances - can rotate, scale, and position independently. It'd be simple to make an army of creatures, or a bazillion props, but I'm not at all sure about the render time - the elasmosaurus renders pretty quick, but when it hits the ships it slows WAY down. Even thee water renders acceptably fast.

Time for a little lie-down while this renders. (smile)

an ethnic Olaf? is he eskimo?

    Beer! wantz too.

applied the 6/30 coupie to the Wisteria Pool. been wanting it for a while. textures are pretty, hoping nice size tiling jpgs, would make some elegance for an empeoror's palace.

need some lapiz lazuli shader for architectural feature decor.

I don't know if I'm going to ethnize (is that even a word?) Olaf, but I want flexibility for my other renders.. and it was on sale, so what the heck!

If you were here I'd share my beer, I have plenty left! (grin)

I don't know if Gemologica has lapis, DS is rendering so I can't check right now.. it sure has everything else..

i have lapis beads at home. gonna try with the camera. it's pretty much a matte blue, not much reflective.

still trying to figure out why when i saved my scene in poser, it obliterated all my dynamic hair styling. traumatizd.

Complaint: I am actually feeling a bit chilly today! Last night got down to 66F after suffering for 3 days at 97F at night. Well, actually, not a real complaint. I like it cooler. Our poor a/cs are fading away. I get tired of the fans, it's like being stuck on a 1940s propeller airplaine winging over the Atlantic. Whr Whr Whr. My laptop gets so hot from the ambient temps I am reluctant to render when it's so hot. So today I might work on a render for a contest. I don't win, but at least I try.

Hubby bought smoked salmon chunk and Lucky Buddha beer for my lunch. This beer is Chinese, and is wheat based, I think. It is not skunky at all. He likes beer, or rather ale that is the opposite, very dark and very skunky-or is that hops? His cooling bevie of choice for the moment is "Arrogant B****D Ale". My beer comes in a bottle in the shape of Ho-tei, his has a label of a gargoyle. I always prefer to drink from the bottle, so this works, I can rub Ho Tei for luck. Hubby prefers in a glass, but I think the beer warms up and goes flat too fast.

Lucky Buddah is a pretty mild ale, very tsty - I have it with sushi. Arrogant Bastard is a wonderful Stone Brewing product, but is VERY hoppy and strong! Best with bbq or spicy food of most kinds, in my opinion.

I prefer from the bottle myself, unless I use an insulated glass.

That was my thought - kind of like Thor gone to seed. Still strong but a bit of a mead belly (heh). And definitely not as bright!

Last kilometer long pike render of the day running. I think I have the scene down pat, so I'll post it when it's done and start a render with the shading rate down to .6 (what I usually use for a final render).

I'm going to use the Dinoraul T-Rex as the giant chicken since Noggins chicken doesn't work well when it's scaled way up. Olaf has some confusion between dinosaurs and real-world creatures, so it all makes a kind of perverse sense.

Olaf has mighty thews, but he's not Einstein..!
