I just may have to take a look at the updated Trailblazer; do I assume it includes the hardware, as well?

I've been out of Trek images for awhile, and just had a thought the other day. I need a good replica of Spock, for obvious reasons ... anyone know where I can track down suitable hair, at least? This is just a start on the 'hydra' ... the background and everything are just placeholders.

yes . the phaser and communicator and some med kit items are included  , however the tricorder is part of the genesis 3 female outfit prop figures

i used to double stack the freebie t-pal hair for vulcans

you never know mylochka is doing some limited work for genesis 3 figures , she might be talked into doing new hair

  • There are a couple of Spock hairs for M4 and M3 over on ShareCG, but of course M4 stuff is ancient.  There are also other Trek TOS hairs there, too, but they are just about as old.  I haven't tried fitting them to newer characters yet, though.

I've been working with XCalpro's Gorn head, retexturing and creating morph targets.  :)

For anyone interested, I also have created a fan film called "The Gorn Imperative."

    Please enjoy!

I definitely know I'd be interested in making use of that Gorn model. Presently the only Gorn model I have is the ones from the 2013 game (Kelvin Timeline).

And as you can see by the attached image they look completely different.

Interesting!  Did you recreate those models or are they originals?  And I do plan to share the Gorn head morphs once I'm done with them.  I have to make them work, scale them, etc. first.

    Ken

  • They're the originals. So far my DAZ conversions only have worked for Humanoid characters. That being said since I initally converted the models of the TOS crew I have, about a year ago, I've already converted well over 100 character models to G8 so I'm pretty well versed at finding the right workflow for the right models.

*raises vulcan eyebrow*  Where did you get them?  That's very interesting.  I could really use them for one of my fan films in particular.  I've been trying to replicate them using Lizardian and Raptoids and Reptilian models.

Been waiting for this one.  It may not be a popular thing to say, but TMP is my favorite Star Trek film.  It's the Trekkiest Star Trek film, and really embraced the sci-fi genre.  TWOK was great, but also changed the trajectory of the films in a major way, especially by the time we got to the TNG films, all of which (with the possible exception of Generations) tried to replicate TWOK's action-heavy spectacle.

One of the things I liked about TMP was the concept behind the uniforms. I liked the idea of the biomonitor belt buckle, but I really liked the idea of the uniform available. Everyone still looked like they were all part of the same crew, but you could wear something adapted to your own preference and comfort.

Which is somewhat contrary to the idea of a uniform.

I don't think it is. In the real world, uniform shirts often have a long sleeve and short sleeve option available. Wearing a visible layer underneath, like a turtleneck, is allowed. There are different uniforms for different functions and occasions, women having the option of skirts or trousers. The different options have an overall unifying design while still allowing for some individual accomodations.

A direct pull from the game itself. On that note I did end up converting the game's models of the Kelvin Timeline Enterprise crew.

    Wow

  • Had some fun with this one. A combination of FaceGen and custom sculpting in Blender, and some overlay layers in GIMP.

I'm a bit frustrated. Any time I go for anything that fits what I have it's on ShareCG which is currently closed to new users :(

It sounds like they're having a serious problem with spam accounts. They said they plan to open to new registrations again, but they're going to make it more difficult, in order to weed out the spammers.

  • Unlike some other Star Trek sources, I admit Star Trek Online is kind of a pain the rear when it comes to the models of the uniforms. Mainly due to how their textures are set up. I had to do so much photoshop work to get the default grey texture to how it actually looks in game but here is an example of an STO uniform on G8. I also went ahead and incresed it's poly-count so it deformed better.
