Hey, don't discriminate against us Silly-Americans! So our ancestors came from Sillyland and we smell like apples and cinnamon, and we don't like to Labor on Labor Day, but we're just normal people like everybody else! (Well, I'm not, but most of us are,)

At least we don't celebrate "Boxing Day" like some people. I mean who came up with the idea to make a day to celebrate putting things in boxes? Sheesh! :)

Dissing the Empire? What O, that's not cricket old boy, not cricket at all. Now be a good chap and pass the port will you, or should I get Jeeves to fetch my shotgun instead, hmm?

Now, let's not have another transatlantic row. It cost too damn much to replace all of that tea the last time.

    *Apologetically passes the port*

Well, what else are we going to do with all those presents that we really don't want? We're not going to show them off...

our Labour day is on the 8th next month in South Australia, different states have it different times of the year so we can go interstate for long weekends and have their shops open I think?
supposed to celebrate introduction of 8hour working day, mmm what happened to that???

That's what the AUS version celebrates? Ours (American) is to celebrate all of the contributions made by workers over the years to better the country.

    oh that too
just the 8 hour thing bugs me personally when even though it was introduced to make workers family lives better thanks to enterprise bargaining and contracts it is all out of the window now AND overtime penalty rates!!

I had to look up penalty rates- out here it's just called overtime. lol The term made it sound like a bad thing and made me think you guys were penalized for working more hours. o_O

LOL... I think it's 'strumpet' that you're thinking of!

Crumpet has quite the opposite connotation when describing a female... a 'lovely bit of crumpet' is a tasty female that's got a bit of class about her ;-)

...but if anybody does want to throw some crumpet in my direction, who am I to stop them? *cough* *cough*

Well, now that we've gotten that labor union sponsored holiday out of the way, we can look forward to Grandparents Day this Sunday. According to Wikipedia, (a highly reliable source ;-)) "...[t]he holiday is expected to grow in significance over the next decade and beyond as the number of grandparents in the United States rises from 65 million in 2011 to 80 million in 2020 as a result of the baby boom. Grandparents in America are also increasingly responsible for child care and support. In 2012, 30% of children under five with working mothers were cared for on a regular basis by a grandparent." If I hadn't been watching the Sprout channel with my grandson last night, I wouldn't have even known about this holiday.

BTW, Canadians get to celebrate with us this year, but the UK has to wait for the first Sunday in October. Apparently the Aussies are starting to come on board state by state.

My grandparents gave me daycare until I was five. My mother was a single mom in the 50s, even more difficult back the than now.

We now return you to the topic at hand. No holiday today that I know of, and Fast Grab hasn't been changed since yesterday.

I can't believe you forgot that today is Newspaper Carrier Day!

Oh yeah, it's also the beginning of Rosh Hashanah.

That explains it! Newspaper Carrier Day. It can't be because of Rosh Hashanah or we would still be waiting.

What happened on this day in US history?

Fast Grab has not been updating regularly. Maybe it's just to give the PAs more attention.

I hope that's the reason. Or is Daz slowly trying to phase out Fast Grabs? That would be a bummer.

President William McKinley was shot in 1901.
I don't think it had a lasting effect on Fast Grabs. :)

    It's the Butterfly effect.

Specifically, McKinley was shot in 1901. In 1999 future DAZ store programmer Victor Ria was unable to answer a question about this event on his history exam. As a result, the 2pt difference on the test caused him to get a C+ instead of a B-, causing his Tiger Mom to ground him for a week, thereby causing him to miss out on his chance to attend a Jennifer Love Hewitt concert with his then best friend David Hiro, who... ironically... won the tickets from a local radio station by correctly answering the question as to what former president had been assassinated on that day. All of which would have probably been forgotten, had David not fallen in love with a beautiful young girl named Stephanie I. Ko, who he met while purchasing a hot dog and an orange drink at the concert. Unfortunately, Victor also fell head over heels in love with Stephanie when he eventually met her one week later once he was no longer grounded, but by that point she had already fallen deeply in love with David. Heartbroken, Victor eventually moved to Provo, where he ultimately gained employment with DAZ3D and mostly got on with his life. However, every year, on the anniversary of McKinley's assassination, he falls into a deep depression and spends the entire day drowning his sorrows by consuming massive quantities of orange drink and hot dogs, and playing Hewitt's one hit wonder hit single "How Do I Deal" over and over again rather than coming in to work and changing the darn Fast Grabs out like he was supposed to.

See? In retrospect, it's pretty simple.

On this day in US history in 1778 France invaded the island of Dominica and captured the British fort there before the latter even knew that France had entered the war as an ally of the United States. Little did anyone know at the time that it would delay the changing of DAZ's Fast Grab centuries later! ;-)

Well its now Sunday morning (6am central US time) and the fast grab items haven’t changed since at least Thursday the 5th.

First we get late switch over times where they don’t change up until the afternoon sometime (instead of around 1 am) and now we don’t get them changed up for the weekend at all let alone for Friday. Its getting kind of old guys.

Is this leading into the possibility that DAZ is going to be cancelling the Fast Grab like they did the weekly freebie?

fast Grab doesn't change over the weekend in general. I would not be surprised if it slows down during the PA sale, since PAs will presumably be keeping their items back for their sale day, but I wouldn't read that as being the writing on the wall for the whole thing.

The sale page didn't change over from Saturday, even though a new email was sent with the new items and artists. The site has been wonky all week.

Not to mention that a lot of the stacking discounts aren't being applied the way that they're advertised. I've skipped all but one day of the PA sale so far because every other time I've worked out the math, I've found the numbers to be off. (Sorry DAZ, I'm not going to intentionally overpay and hope for a refund, because even when I get do a credit, I never get the difference in tax back.)

But hey, Renderosity, Xurge and Yur are all running some great sales, I've got a Rendo Prime coupon and Content Paradise is running the First Friday Bazaar. If DAZ doesn't want to get their act together and have people fixing the store on the three busiest sale days of the week, there are plenty of other places to spend my 3D dollars. Ya snooze, ya lose...
