I convert the spring to another modeler to start the modeling.. the spring parametres were adjusted to my liking prior to converting.
in the modeling room I untriagulate as much as needed then use soft select to move and bend the ends of the spring into a position I require.
Once I'm happy with the shape I duplicate it once then duplicate the duplicate and rotate into position and finish off by welding the tops together. I then delete the 2nd duplicate as it's not needed anymore.
the elements I'll be playing with are Hydrogen, Phosphor and Mercury
Could be Brash. Could be Moxie. Could be one of my other custom figures, such as Don the Man from Laredo? Fred the north pole mailman? Rachel the Red Haired Racketeer? Captain Sunburn? Could be a Daz figure such as M4/V4/Genesis #? Could be a Poser figure like P7 Simon or P7 Sidey. Who do you want to see in the gas tank?
I am using the fire and the fog from the Carrara dropdown menu to make a sci-fi gas containment tank.
I inserted the fire, changed it to a cylinder shape, and changed the colors to a green and blue.
I inserted the fog, changed its color to be near the fire green (but not the same). I scaled the fog above the fire.
I modeled a gas containment tank around the fire and fog.
I placed some bulb lights at the bottom of the containmnt tank, tinged green.
See attached for settings for fire and fog.

Maybe its not ready for human testing. Here is a custom rat I made for an image of the Pied Piper of Hamlin. The refraction may be too strong on my glass shader.
EDIT: I've turned the tank sideways and put fire and lights at both ends.
this uses the depth pass with a screen parameeter to get a lighter background, slo coverage pass and toon pass to bring out the lines, I rendered out a few shadows passes with different lights to try and get more definition but it didnt work this time
post work in fotosketcher and topaz simplify
Excellent, as always. Gives me some ideas for experimenting with the coverage pass and shadow passes. Brash and Moxie may make a toonish appearance in Challenge 44.
great work with the lines... I'll be doing similar as well in a different way of course ... if that makes sense..

I can see some soylent being made from those elements!
the last ones had plugins & freebies, i don't download them.
any way for this one i think chinese elements, they got 5:
wood, fire, earth, metal, water.
air is chi not an element, but i'll get it too.
Can't fault you for not downloading plugins and freebies. But, if you change your mind, there are a couple freebies offered in this thread. I did not obtain your email address. I used the Daz forum message function to send you a private message (PM) on the forum, and the forum probably sent notification to your email. I did not know that about Chinese categories of elements. Sounds like a great starting point.
simialr variations - second image with some simple vertex flowers added to the fountain - any ideas how to change the fountain particle type?
This vegetation is exceptional. I am filing the idea for future use. Thanks.. I've been using hair for grass and you are so right about the render times.
Sorry, I'm still trying to figure out the particle myself.
There are so many cool things going on here, too many to mention them all.
Diomede - very neat gas tube. Like HW, I like the vertical one. I love the tubes they illustrate on the old pulp scifi covers, and Daz has many vendors who have modeled similar tubes.
Stezza - wow!
Wendy - what a great model, thanks for finding. Varsel, I really appreciate you converting it to obj.
HW - fountain? Are you talking about the Carrara particle emitter? I've never even tried particles. Sure glad that you keep pushing the boundaries. :) Looks very "painterly" (probably an overused term).
ah Stezza, you have won already :) bottom image is beaut,
Bunyip02, that water surface look sperfect at the top left
Varsel, thank you for that!
Wendy, thanks for replying, alas I can replicate leaves on a fountain but it does not transfer to the replicated verisions of the fountain
Stezza, the founrtain we are using is not the typical particle one - it's found in the drop down with the clouds etc
UB - thank you - yes it looks very pointillist! Accidentally. I tried to get mor meat but to do that I need to convert to a mesh and then add thickness and that adds to the render times :(
The toon parody of 5th element progresses. I created a toon figure that can appear to have its head down in its chest like the parody clip Veronika provided. I hope to use shaders an morphs to create a couple of appopriate characters from the same figure. Unfortunately, I'm having a few complications with the weightmapping. The new weights don't seem to be preserved after I adjust them. Hope to gte it sorted out. Meanwhile here is the model, weight of the head, and a toon filter test render.
The caustics came out very black in my scene so I postworked them with a tiff file that I borrowed from Bryce, bubbles from the scuba gear were also added as postwork.

Great start. Very creative way to model.
You Decide! Who should go in the gas tank?

and what a great interpretation it is... a great wacky model ... cool
great work with the lines... I'll be doing similar as well in a different way of course ... if that makes sense..
I can see some soylent being made from those elements!
I can imagine three genesis figures in a lift with very expressionist looks on their faces... who did it!
did some more modeling ... doing three at a time to keep me occupied lol
elements and cutouts are on the agenda
a simple model of an element symbol then duplicated and grouped and I used a jigsaw shape to get this cutout
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2962875
for those interested I found this
some conversion and assembly required
there was an earth shattering kaboom!
lol
changed text from hydrogen to Argon
the next render element comprises my modeled bulb and descriptions of the elements
all elements were rendered in PR the rendered in NPR
Mercury Man I retextured and posed ( Fluid Man )
from a previous Carrara Challenge #27
also modeled a capsule and used a replicator for a sphere for the phosphor contents.
Amazing, Stezza.
See that? Three thumbs up!!!
And three exclamation points.
Off to a flying start Stezza :) Love how your mind works!
Diomede I vote for Moxie PS Gas tank looks great standing up :)
experiment with fountain replicated to suggest vegetation - renders much quicker than hair - there's a little hair in this plus a vertex branch thingy
simialr variations - second image with some simple vertex flowers added to the fountain - any ideas how to change the fountain particle type?
you can replicate on it, I do stuff in Octane that way, Octane does not see the fountain itself
diomede just sent me an e mail about this one.
how did you get my mail?

Thanks Wendy.
I used Meshlab to convert the .stl file to .obj. And then Hexagon to put him or her or it ..? together.
In Carrara it was a Fog primitive and Scene distance Fog..
And here is the converted figure.

in the Basic tab select Objects as the shape then in the particle emitter advanced tab you add an object like you do in the replicator..
thanks everyone for your comments...
looking at everyone's wips there is a lot better than mine coming up
I can get a Free Willy feeling in @bunyip02_Carrara wip
awesome works
after rendering out all the elements I put them all together.
also used Light Bob to use with my bulb.. as well as LoRez Masked Hero
Compact Fluorescent Light Bulb

aha... in that case I have no idea....
fun render using phong
H2O Elephant

Stezza, the elephant is perfection.
UB - thanks for the kind comments on the gas tank.
Bunyip - I'm not going to swim in that lagoon. Looking forward to underwater adventure!
Varsel - thanks for converting the alien model. Shaders look fantastic.

Thanks Stezza, love both your light and elephant renders !!!
