So here's mine. I may still play with it a bit if time allows.
"Elements of War (You Sank My Battleship!)"
I used the Ocean primitive for the water and the Fire primitive plus Primovol Rising Smoke for the burning ship. The board is modeled in Carrara (the peg holes are just a texture made in Photoshop) and the ships are all from the included Carrara content. Lighting is an HDRI and I used the Distance Fog under Atmosphere to fade out the background. I threw the wineglass in just to fill in that big empty spot in the background; it's a spline object I made some time ago for another image and had saved in my object tray.
Scene Setup
Carrara Render
Postwork
In Photoshop I used a combination of the cutout and watercolor filters to get a less photorealistic effect, then used the stamp, cutout, and halftone filters to darken the shadows and add lines. I added a light green solid layer on top of that set to color mode at a low transparency to tone the whole image and then painted additional flame and smoke using some of Ron's brushes on top.
Final
excellent idea, love it, the post processing works a charm - thanks for the explanation
Thank you everyone for keeping the thread so active. I always enjoy the dfferent perspectives Carrarists bring to a theme. Way to go, Bunyip. Volcanoes and rough seas, a very active interpretation!
I will be trying to put something together for the carrara category of the "Its Raining Men" challenge in the Art Studio forum. Put it off too long and then the holidays got in the way. In case I can't look in, have a great end-of-2018.

Having fun using Multi-pass and the elements to come up with a render.
Different Multi-pass options, was looking for a way to place the rain effect over post-worked lightning.

wow Bunyip02 , on a roll!! This is one of your best ever!
Stuff from me, this uses Ocean (thing on top) and the foundtain particle - I also replicated small red fogs around the genesisi figure (thankls so much Alberto!! I can now use Genesis without filling up my harddrive)
Used multipasses in post work for the first two. The last one is original render without post I was playing with the Parchment effect but failed... the lighting is blowon out because I was interested in the Shadow Pass. The back two Geneisi figures are reflections
Used VWD for the cloth drape and Carrara Rain Storm for the odd diagonal shafts and the water splashes

Merry Christmas, UB. Well done. I downloaded the converted alien but have not tried working with it yet.
Shlomi Laszlo - very innovative concept, working all the different Chinese elements in.
excellent idea, love it, the post processing works a charm - thanks for the explanation

merry chrissie back - what kind of clouds are they ?- look very effective
an overall view and five views from element to element.
inspiration:
1. Keep of the four worlds, from amber books.

3. chinese elements, first from a Gurps book.

Thanks Diomede and HW. This was not an entry.
HW, the clouds are just long clouds from the object browser, set at 100% opacity.
thanks @shlomi laszlo !
@UnifiedBrain - thanks too, very effective, I always forget that they are in the objects browser!
Using the Fountain option to build up a Volcano eruption, early days yet.
Run dinos run, that volcano is about to get a whole lot bigger....
Still to add more dinos and some lava around the mouth of the volcano, might try Headwax's idea with metaballs.
In addition to Fountain, Volumetric Clouds, Primivol Rising Smoke, Metaballs using Surface Replicator to position them used.
looks like the bull ant hills in my yard
As long as they are Bull ants and not Fire ants !!!
love the viewpoint in this, with the little dinosaurs running for their lives!
Thanks, and thanks for the ideas about using metaballs !
Element Water - Wild Seas
Wild Seas stormified
Next to add some passengers to the ship and some lightning. Volumetric Cloud used for the storm cloud.
