Personally I leave the zips in the download directory and DIM notifies me when the updates are available. To keep track what is already installed I change the file date of all the zips that I already copied to my runtime. Simple and works well for me.

How do you do that ?
    Changeing the file date?
Ah... I don't use desktop to manage files but a file manager. Is it not available in the default manager (windows or mac)? But I guess there must be shell extensions available that allow doing that from default manager too. Anyway it was just an example :red:

    Major problem!

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit with a 900 pixel tall monitor (yes, I need a new one), the create new property dialog box is too long. There's no scroll bar, no way to shorten it, it won't even let me drag the top off screen, I can't reach the 'okay' button!

In other news: the Property Hierarchy loads much faster. But the new edit-mode/property hierarchy is confusing. I can set up a simple Delta Add or Multiply but is there a dialog box for setting specifics somewhere? Like adding at .2 rather than 1, or subtracting, or dividing?

    Thanks,
    palin

Click the triangle next to the morph in the property Hierarchy to see its properties (you may need to click several triangles to get to the level you need) then right-click to change options or left click to change values.

I am getting constant crashes with this build it seems according to the bug report box that pops up to have something to do with the Undostack, I've had 6 crashes today DS very very rarely crashed prior to this build.

Has the (0xc000007b) problem been sorted out for this version?

What issue? That, as I recall, is a Windows system error code (relating to driver issues, I think) rather than an application error.

On the General Release, is there anyway to set the "send to Hexagon" bridge to send over the high resolution mesh instead of reverting to and sending over the base mesh?

... and I'm going to say this ... PLEASE upgrade Hexagon to 64 bit. tyia

I've tried the suggestion that were made regarding the error, but I still can't this to work right at all, even with what I downloaded from Microsoft. I feel too that it's more a windows error than a DAZ Studio app error itself. I've tried everything, so now I keep with DAZ Studio on my laptop and just transfer over to workstation to post work afterwards.

I can't find Property Editor(s) in new DS. Can somebody tell me where icons are or how to add them to the top icon bar?

It's been replaced with Property Hierarchy (right side of Property Editor) and the edit mode of Parameters (left side or PE, access through the pane's option menu).

Um...how do I do ERC freeze now? I don't see the option.

And what is My Face and Randomize commands? They don't seem to do anything on Genesis.

    Ok, I found it.

DS crashes _every single time_ when I'm doing ERC freeze with bone adjustment. It is also terribly slow, much slower than in was in previous version - taking half of minute to change node from None to Genesis. Is that a known issue or I need to file a bug?

Also, using Customize (F3) tried to add action ERC Freeze from CCT Property Editor left page to creation tools toolbar. It worked at first but now it is all grayed out and inactive.

How do I report bugs? Bugs.daz3d.com no longer seems to be active.

The ERC freeze crash has already been fixed, but you need to install the new beta to get it.

I installed a public release 4.6.1.17, isn't this the latest one?

No, not the public release. The latest BETA release.

If it is only available through DIM I can't install it.

The latest Beta release FIXES all the issues with ERC Freeze so if your hesitant then I guess that's you. For me it was a great relief to see how FAST ERC Freeze now works, not to mention everything in ERC is alphabetical so you don't have to scroll and scroll and scroll looking for the morph your trying to freeze.

I won't mind to install Beta, but I don't use DIM.

Not sure what everyone's issue is with DIM. It works great for most of us and I don't find DAZ peeking in on me or anything obtrusive like that.

I just consider it a unnecessary piece of software, sort of like those annoying toolbars that are trying to install themselves into Firefox.

Well my argument is that DIM provides a hassle free way to installing your software and it is. Simple as that. DIM doesn't compare at all to those toolbars that many exe's offer when installing. Now if DAZ went down that road and we are using DIM and had no control over that aspect I'd throw a fit but you really can't compare ease of use with a annoying toolbar.

My point is I'll have to wait until Public Release to get benefits of fixes as I'm not installing DIM even if DAZ3D would pay me for this.

P.S. hassle free way is a manual download and installation which is an install with zero useless files like CMS support things.

DIM doesn't run in the background - it's active only when you start it - and it doesn't hijack any file types.

I just don't see the purpose of DIM because, for example, if I had to start it every time, in time to start it I can just go to Product Library and quickly download just what I need and put it where I want to put it. Zero hassle, no more time than to use DIM, full control over download and installation.

Well many users swear by it. Regardless this isn't the thread to be discussing if you like it or not.

DIM auto checks for file updates. No more waiting for a list to be posted to the forums. Just one more good use of DIM IMHO.

Yup, it isn't. As I said, I'll have to wait for manual download of beta or new public release to have ERC fixed. In meanwhile I'll go back to 4.6.0.18 where ERC at least works.

Are you seriously saying your DIM launches so slow that you can launch your browser, log into daz, find your product in the library and have it all downloaded in the time it takes DIM just to launch?

    *headscratch*
