From the look at the crash itself it looks like there may be some issue with the Scene Selection Drop down. This is the drop down widget at the top of parameters, shaping, posing, etc that allows you to select nodes. For now you might want to avoid that widget and use the scene pane. I'm not sure what's causing it to crash, and it could be something else, but it something to try for now.

Can you please report on a bug on this so we can track it?

    Done.

Ah, just noticed this is a Mac issue, had me worried for a moment there. Just hope there aren't too many PC issues.

I'm not using DS full time again just yet, so, I'm keeping an eye on this thread now so I can be aware of things that might crop up when I get back into it.

    CHEERS!

The update went smoothly for me on the PC using the DIM. The only hassle was recreating my custom workspace, which happens with every update. I chose to go the route of recreating it rather than merge/update, since the changes were small. It is working well so far, but I don't know where to find documentation on the new features, beyond the change log one-liners.

Saving the layout and style through the Window dialogue hasn't worked for you? That's what I always do.

That always works for me in the same release, but I understood that I wouldn't get the new menus if I just loaded a saved workspace after the update. Is that wrong?

Oh. Maybe I'm just confused. Looks like I've been using Darkside and a slightly modified City Limits for a long time. I did have to drag my tabs around to where I wanted them again after the update (I want Parameters/Properties/Surface Tab/Render Tab stacked on the RIGHT, Scene/Content Library/Tool tab on the LEFT, and NO shaping and CMS tabs).

It kept my custom color settings after the update. Go figure.

I just go to the folder where all the Custom UI files are stored and save those out to the desktop and push them back in if it's a brand new installation (like a beta that's installed to it's own location). I've had no issues with getting all UI settings back for a while now. It was just the CMS issue when I had both the public release FINAL and that last beta installed at the same time. Messed all that up for me. Won't do that again!

Read #15 of the first post. Should help shed some light on the subject. :)

I've done nothing to my UI or CMS (not that I've ever used it) since 4.5 and it's all stayed the same and never been overwritten. I do have to keep turning off that tutorial thingy that pops up when you first load it but that's it.

This was mentioned in another thread, but I'm mentioning it here in case someone from DAZ sees it.

The manual downloads for Genesis 2 Female Starter Essentials are not the newest version and are not the ones that were updated for DAZ Studio Pro 4.6.1.17.

I did file a bug report about the downloads.

does it bear any resemblance to this Mac issue with adding camera's and crashing that was confirmed in 4.5x about 10 months ago?

    Oh, right,

I'd never have known that. Let us know what they say when they get back to you.

I thought I had posted an update request for a bug I submitted twice in July, once on Mantis with several other users who reported the sames issue, then later on ZenDesk. Apparently I can no longer find the thread where I posted the request and it appears the bug report has disappeared from ZenDesk as well.

Is something going on with the system or something else?

What has been updated in the G2F Starter Essentials? The Doc center product page doesn't show any new change since the one at the beginning of July, and after downloading again now I can't find any files in the zip with a date after that either .... which is one day before the date stamp of the files in My Library?

I'm a bit confused here. G2F Starter Essentials comes with the newest version of DAZ Studio? If so, where do I find it?

...so do we need to reinstall these as well or is that covered by the main application install?

You need to reinstall Genesis 2 Female Essentials, the content isn't included in the application package as it doesn't change as often.

...so if I have them from the last release version, I then really don't need to install them?

Yes, they've recently made an update change but I don't recall the details.

Just lovely, just frigging lovely. ERC is now crashing DAZ Studio. 4 tries and keeps crashing when trying to freeze reset bones in the figure Dawn. GRRRRRRRRRRRR

I guess I need to make a report but wanted to post here in case anyone else is having similar issues.

    Thanks :-S

Thank GOD that DAZ didn't take down the Public Beta. Last time I checked that worked fine for me. So I uninstalled this "FINAL" and reinstalled the beta and I'll see how that goes. *fingers crossed* that I can get my work done.

Well that didn't do a dammed bit of good. Not sure what the issue is but this totally is cramping my style DAZ!

Updated with the installer without problem but is it still a beta?

Before updating I'd suggest anyone who has a custom style and layout to save the layout with actions/menu/toolbar set to custom

Then update to the new version. Load the saved layout then save it again with a new name but this time change the menu option to "Default advanced"

Load the newly saved Layout and you'll have your custom layout with new menus

The manual download for the Genesis 2 Starter Essentials is still the one from July, when will we know if this has been properly updated and what is the date of the update?
