Tyrannosaurus Rex 3 [Commercial]

The Tyrannosaurus Rex 3 is fully rigged and the next generation model being the most realistic, detailed, and optimized for better performance than previous versions.

Get it here: Tyrannosaurus Rex 3

The Tyrannosaurus Rex 3 figure includes:

  • Male and Female variations
    • Unique textures for each
    • Unique feathers for each (Optional)
    • 4K & 8K Texture options* (details below)
  • Saliva add-on
  • Spit add-on
  • 10 complete body poses to get you started.

This figure was hand sculpted in Zbrush with the topology being rebuilt in Topogun by hand. Hand painted in both Zbrush and Substance Painter to bring you the most detailed and realistic looking Tyrannosaurus yet.

*4K & 8K textures does not represent all textures being used on the model. The model is made up of multiple UV maps, all using 128 to 2K size textures except the main body which utilizes 4K size textures. The 8K texture option only switches out the Base Color and Normal Map with 8K textures which are used for very close-up shots. Unlike previous versions, the main body consists of only one UV map to reduce the amount of textures used. Some universal maps are also reused across multiple material zones to reduce render times without losing quality.

Important Note:

The original Tyrannosaurus Rex figure (not "Tyrannosaurus Rex 2") is getting disabled with the release of Tyrannosaurus Rex 3. I asked Daz to keep "Tyrannosaurus Rex 2" due to the many expansive products available for it.

Art & Promotional Images:

All images below rendered in Daz Studio using NVIDIA Iray.

Art Showcase (Combined with "Hell Creek Modules"):

Art Showcase (combined with unreleased items):

The Tyrannosaurus Rex 3 Saddle and Tyrannosaurus Rex 3 Expansion (additional textures and add-ons) are not included.

In the cart as soon as it launches!

Really love the skin sag and folds in the skin with movement. Adds a real sense of weight and depth, as well as strength and musculature. I have all your Rex models, and this one will definitely be a welcome addition to my dino files.

Your poses are awesome, sleeping rex is very impressive.

Also love the way the Hell Creek Modules are looking. Can't wait for all of it. After 'Rex 2, I didn't think you do them better, but I see I was wrong.

I particularly like the attention on rendering burden and your responsiveness to feedback. Truly exceptional yes yes

  • Tyrannosaurus Rex, Tyrannosaurus Rex 2, Tyrannosaurus Rex 2 Berzerker, and now 3 all in a very short period of time. I really like your work, but having a hard time keeping up and having an even harder time understanding the differences that would justify a completely new model instead of morph sets, etc to say T Rex 2? I know Daz updates with new generations about every 2 years which then brings updates of the characters by artists like RawArt, etc. The differences are instantly apparent in those cases. I know that more can be charged for a whole model set, but I know that I waited until Daz's Dragon 3 model from the Millennium Dragon...and have spent more buying addons than they would have made on the in between stage. Yes, there are some that would get each iteration but the audience would be bigger with addons to current purchases. Just MHO. Thanks for all the other great stuff that you have made as well!
  • Thanks guys for all the comments and appreciate the support.

The biggest and most influential change here is the amount of optimization done to make it render in a fraction of the time the previous versions tooks. It is literally 1/10th of the poly count (from previous versions) and a lot has been done to optimize the mats. The other focus is bringing the rex more up to date with its appearence and recent knowledge gained of the animal. This could have done with a morph for Tyrannosaurus Rex 2 like the Berserker, but again the main driving reason is the optimization. While this may be very small to some, it is pretty huge to others.

I may have to get this one for this very reason. I had to rework the first one quite a bit to make it usuable ad I have stayed awhile from getting more from you because of how resource intensive your products are, but this looks great and I am up for giving it a chance!

  • Herschel I love your stuff and yes I will buy this one also but another T-Rex , bro lets expand the library a bit. The Carnomoloch was a great character let's see more like that and if you really want to make me happy use your modeling and texturing skills at the Gen 8 line I bet you could make some smoking aliens or monsters. But the T Rex 3.0 is very nice and I am sure it will do well.

Haha, yes there are quite a few things I can do and would sell pretty well. The rex line though is one of my top selling creature items and I needed a new one for the products I plan on adding to it. I also have quite a few products coming out over the next few months, all ranging from outfits, expansions, creatures, and even a dragon. All focused on being optimized like this rex. Stay tuned, I promise you won't be dissappointed.

Edit: Also here's another image of the new rex being used with the saddle and expansion that will introduce plenty of gnarly effects like gore, drooping saliva, wounds, full and partial pose library, and additional textures.

This is astounding! Seriously intrigued about your dragon, considering the usual amazing quality.

Does it include poses for the rider and, if so, G8F/M only or G3F/M, too? If there are any, I'm wondering if they might be adapted for riders of DZ Fire's RAPTOR product.

Th Saddle Product will include a variety of poses and partials for G8M, G8F, G3M, & G3F. Not sure what you mean by adapted but the poses are designed for the Tyrannosaurus Rex 3 Saddle only and it requires the figure to be placed in the right location. Adapting the poses for another saddle or figure would be considered different poses and focused on another product.

Color me impressed. Since you mentioned new design techniques and this version being more optimized I figured I could at least try it out instead of basing my purchase/or not on past experiences with your products.

You did a great job, Rex loads and renders very quickly, under half the time of the first model. I am also able to use the iray preview and move things around without it bogging down or lagging, so it's very appreciated. Is the Trike the same way, or did the new techniques start here? If this is how things will be going forward, I can see purchasing more from you! Thanks again!

  • The Trike has less topology than this rex model but the materials are not quite as optimized but it should still render much faster than previous dinosaur models. It was a building block to get where I am at now. Things will definitely be like this going forward (on all products) as I have a system in place that I like a lot.

There is something to be said for herbivours steeds.... like the fact that you are less likely to have your head bitten off by one if they get a little "peckish" on the trail. :)

    Dynamite model, BTW. Instant Purchase.

Gonna have to make some "Cave Babe" pics.

Downloading Rex 3 right now. Thank you, HH. Will be combing Rex 3 with Rex 2 Alpha Berserker and juvy to flesh out the tyrannosaur pack without crashing my laptop. Using Esemwy's script to reduce textures helps Rex 2 render faster.

Also enjoying the Triceratops. Any chance we might see a Trike texture expansion in the future? Rendered a fight scene with the Rex 2, but the Trike doesn't have battle damage.

There's definitely something in the works for both the Trike and Rex 3 as far as battle damage, gore, and the like. I have a few projects ahead of it but there will even be a trike carcass with its head decapitated so the rex can eat up that yummy neck meat.

I like it. Looking forward to the carnage. Can't thank you enough.

Checking out the Rex 3 in a quick 3Delight render next to Alpha. Very nice.

  • love your promos for t3 on your deviant page and the game art and book covers and looking forward to the saddle for him. Doesn't really matter since I now have him but will the saddle also fit the other rex models? And your other dinos will they get something? Your Alamo could have something like that don't what it's called but that cabin? thing that the giant elephants had wore carrying large groups of soldiers in Return Of The King. A stegosaurous would be cool as well as some flyers pterodactyls and others oh these with saddles too. And maybe some mutant dinosaurs and or Godzilla style monsters.Oh and did you hear about the feathered dinosaur tail perfectly preserved in amber
