So I went a little crazy and spent way too long analysing our new guy and playing around with all the new toys, but I finally compiled a weighty review of Michael 6. I also touch on and G2F and Genesis 2 as a whole and compare to Gen 4 and Genesis (1) to round things out.

If you've been sitting on the fence then this might help you. If you've already bought in there may still be some useful information, and perhaps a little entertainment value.

I'm going to go read it even though I already own it. Also, your character there looks a lot like Sam Witwer to my eye. (He's in the American version of Being Human.)

It seems weird to me that he has individual breast controls. Why would you need that on a figure that’s meant to be exclusively male?

Men’s pecs move along with the movement of the arms just like women’s breasts do. In other words the pecs do not remain static as the figures arms are posed. It is a fairly minor shift but it is there.

Sure, I understand that. But does the amount of movement call for a separate setting dial to move that lower portion of the pec separately?

I think so Tim. When you lift your arm over your head the whole muscle moves slightly, the same is true if you move you arm front to back. Also, not every one is going to work with very fit, thin men. Should they do an obese character then gravity swing is going to be just as likely as on some women. It also gives a bit of give to the area for poses where the arms come in. Prayer hands or reaching across the body for example.

I can see that, though I think a morph is probably a better solution.

I'm surprised buttocks don't have their own parameter dial for movement.

    That'd be a bum deal,

I'm sure someone will come up with a package for that. I still have to wait till Wed before I can afford him, but, I still like what I'm seeing.

    CHEERS!

Ahh ok..makes sense. I can make a G2M base with G1 base head morph, but have no idea if that can be distributed.

If you made it I would most definitely buy it. I prefer that head hands down. =)

The problem with the temple for me is it creates a similar look in the characters. It also makes the brows ride a bit differently on his face.

Is one of those distinguishing features that identifies his character as him, is problematic when you trying to make your own unique characters that don't carry his characteristics. The body is quite generic and nice to work with for shaping into your own, first thing I do with body tho is work on the chest and shoulder width, he has a athlete swimmer look about him lol, the face is a challenge as its so characterized.

Agreed. And the temple really defines the face in more ways than I thought. I do try to dial it out and add some m4 but there is no way using the morph pack to eliminate it.

Thanks Riggswolfe. Hope you enjoyed the review. I just used the base M6 for that render.

I haven't played with this aspect much yet, but this might be easy to fix with d-formers. I might give it a go and see what I get.

One thing I noticed when playing around with M6 last night is that when the arms are put up, as in a flight or dive position, the weight mapping is still over compensating and over bulging the deltoids. IF you put your own arm all the way up watch how the deltoid looks and see the space where the traps are. I'm not a skinny guy, not a bodybuilder any more either but I'm muscular and well, this whole area looks atrocious to me. I was under the assumption that the weight mapping was greatly improved. I'm not seeing ANY improvement in this area compared to Genesis 01. If the weight maps were better in this area one would NOT need corrective morphs to fix these areas when the arms are put all the way up......

I did indeed enjoy it including the coverage of the m4 to m6 stuff, autofit and an overview of the differences between g2 and g1

M6 Xpressions "is a set of 20 face expressions (poses) using the Michael 6 original morphs"

I'm guessing this is an error; they are presets using the G2M head morphs. Yes?

Yes I did they were in the update part of Install Manager, I thought that is where they would be too.

I've got all the necessary items downloaded and installed for Michael 6 Pro bundle using DIM, but when I load Brandon DUF, it asks for Evolution morphs under the Genesis 2 Male folder structure. I don't have this, according to DS4.6 Pro. How do I obtain this required item, please ?

you have to buy the Evolution morphs, they weren't included in the pro bundle.

  • edited December 1969

But the Brandon product does not state the Evolution moprhs set as a pre requisite. I have the gen 1 evolution morphs, but those aren't relevant. Something is wrong here.

The Genesis Starter Essentials are not in the store. They are a free download via your Product Library or DIM.

The wording of the new promotion seems a bit off. It says "with purchase of any new release from this page" but it really only works with the items released today. Working as intended? Edit: I guess this is what "starting today" is saying. Nvm.

Also I assume "Main Man Mix And Match Expressions For Michael 6" is a set of presets using the G2M morphs. It should list them as a requirement. Or are the expression morphs provided in G2M Essentials? Edit: Turns out I was mistaken, the expression morphs are in the free Essentials.

    Hi araneldon,

"Main Man Mix And Match Expressions For Michael 6" are expressions that use the base morphs of expressions of Genesis 2 Male. Although they were made for Michael 6 you can use them without Michael 6, and apply them to G2M.

    Hope this helps you ;)

I am curious about the http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/genesis-2-male-head-shapes

When I try to use the round face and square face on M6, it only adjusts the jaw portion. Is this the way the product is intended to work? Shouldn't it adjust the entire face, not just the lower half? Or am I doing something wrong here.... =)

Not sure if anyone else having this trouble... but the 60percent off sale is NOT working for me... I DO have a new G2M item in my cart... Milen Hair... but when I go to the page with the Genesis Male items... it's not showing ANY 60 percent off items.. even when I put them in my cart... I think it has the wrong items to pick from.. shouldn't they be Genesis 2 male items????

Here's where the link takes me.... http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-male-clothing-and-hair?utm_source=bronto&utm_medium=email&utm_term=Image+-+Save+60%+on+Genesis+Male+Items+with+purchase+of+a+Michael+6+New+Release&utm_content=Genesis+Hair+&+Clothing+60%+Off&utm;_campaign=(11/24/13)+Genesis+Hair+&+Clothing+60%+Off

Thanks EmmaAndJordi, and sorry about the confusion. For some reason I thought the expressions were not in Essentials.
