Olympia?

Ok, I saw Olympia on the store and asked myself: who needs her?

To me she looks like the "I like sports but do not eat enough" character again, that we already have with V6 and Gia6. In fact, I think, that you can build a very very similar figure with simply mixing V6 and Gia6.

So, who really needs another character like this? And why?

because variety makes this interesting, otherwise we can all go back to rendering posette in a blue sports coat and brown slacks with snap on plastic hair-do.

To anyone who has Olympia, is she categorized as a Real World or Fantasy/Sci-Fi shape?

Hm, funny. Variety is the thing that I really miss. All these G2F original figures (V6, Gia6 and Olympia6) look too similar in my eyes. Look at their belly region, their hips, arms, legs... all the same model with the same proportions. Nothing that you could not do with a morph package. There is no real variety, is it?

A figure like Stephanie5 would be interesting. S5 really looked a lot different than Genesis/V5. Different body, different face, different proportions. That was variety and that is missing these days.

sounds like you know other peoples needs or is it a real question?

But just don't buy her then, how hard can that be?

Lol, no it is not hard not to buy her.

I just wanted to know other peoples opinions and if there are some who think like myself. Sorry for that.

I agree, I'm sure it will sell well though. It appears to have been sculpted to a very high degree. And the texture set is comparatively advanced next to most.

The last few years have seen 3d scan tech become much more accessible. I'd like to see more use of 3d scans, as in Reby Sky and Steph 5.

I personally like how she looks.

Doesn't mean I will use her over Aiko3 but I still like her looks.

Despite my rant against FBM characters over shaping expansion packs I like Olympia more than Gia or Victoria 6. I just wish the curvaceous shapes had been part of the Pro Bundle. My disappointment with characters over packs began with Stephanie 5, compare her base shape plus a curvy and model shape to S4's base plus a whole lot of proportioning morphs.

But it has a "6" on it, so it will sell.

I will not buy her. In the Starter and Pro bundles I saw only one normal piece of clothing. The rest were skimpwear. Could be wrong as I did not look that hard. Also IMO, she is not a real world woman. She is another fantasy woman.

I have Gia, but she is just to "hard" for my taste. I rarely use her and then just a % of the dial.... I love the Olympia shape as she is more curvaceous and sexy looking to me. The shapes are definitely different. As far as questioning who would want her and why.... Different people have different taste and perceptions. :) After playing with both, I am a huge fan of Olympia.... She's no Gia. :)

The shape is what I was after. I also love the "skimpwear" she has, but that is just my taste. The great thing about G2F is that I don't "have" to use what they packaged with her. I can just get the base and use the normal everyday clothing with her as well. *Poof* instant "real world" female. She isn't "only allowed" to wear what they are marketing with her..... She can wear real clothing as well... :) She is definitely curvaceous, and to me, more realistic than many of the hard body shapes promoted lately... But that's just mvho.

I was prepared to have a similar opinion at the OP but after looking over the main Olympia product, to me she looks like a Frazetta built woman esp with SickleYields additional morphs. I think she looks great, one of DAZ's best releases for the Genesis 02 Female. I did get the Pro Bundle as I actually like about 90% of the content this time around. Last few releases for G02-F I just bought the main shape product and a few extras. G02-Male I did buy the Pro bundle. He's superb!

She looks nice, but I already feel burned with these new figures with special UV's. I'd rather have expanded morphs for the G2 figures so I can make them look different myself instead of buying a new canned character.

I like both Olympia and Gia, but I agree, I'd love more 21th c outfits. A hooded jacket, a pair of baggy jeans, a smart suit, a long jacket, some hats. And perhaps a goth outfit with layers of lace. An Asian morph on Olympia and I'd drop her right down in Shinjuku. So bring it on! :)

That said, why are we hardly getting anything but Caucasian ppl these days?

Therefore you can also have this: http://www.daz3d.com/heroine-for-genesis-2-female at almost half of the price.

I did not want to say that Olympia is bad. Or Gia or V6. It is just too much of the same kind in my taste. I would really like to see something different.

So if DAZ release a muscular shape and a more curvy shape, two characters that are are new and unique to this generation then that's 'more of the same' . If they release a new incarnation of their 'petite' shape, a character that's been around for many, many years, just after releasing a 'teenage' shape that's also 'petite', then that's variety?

    Sorry, I don't follow.
And I also find it quite easy to tell Victoria, Gia and Olympia apart. I do like morphs packs as much as the next guy. And I do think that DAZ really needs to release a skin texture that is not just pale white. But I do understand that they are waiting a while with Stephanie 6 after having released Teen Josie.

My only reason for not buying Olympia is because I'm still saving my pennies for the inevitable release of Growing Up and Brothers for G2M. Though at this point I'm unsure if it will even be released this side of Christmas.

At a glance, they look like variations on the same person to me. If you have all 3, would you be willing to post a render of them together in their default shapes?

Olympia is extremely beautiful, love that face. More so than either V6 and Gia. But I won't buy her because I don't need her. Nothing in either the Pro or Starter Bundles interests me.

Honestly, I'm surprised at yet another female release right after M6. I thought we'd be seeing more men.

Teen Jayden looks to be the next figure, so there's another male coming soon, but I wouldn't expect a David or Hiro 6 to come out before another female figure. One has to remember that the main purpose of the figures is to sell the clothing/hair/texture/morph sets, which is where the real profit is for DAZ and most PAs, and female clothing (or semi-clothing, in the case of skimpware) sell far better than male anything. But hey, at least there finally ARE G2M figures...
