Seriously, the reason I wanted Olympia?
New, shiny and I had the money.
Honestly, I don't need anything in my Runtime.

Ok, I saw Olympia on the store and asked myself: who needs her?

To me she looks like the "I like sports but do not eat enough" character again, that we already have with V6 and Gia6. In fact, I think, that you can build a very very similar figure with simply mixing V6 and Gia6.

So, who really needs another character like this? And why?

Seems to me that DAZ is watering the characters down and support and more features for the stuff already out would be a better idea. I am not going to spend $60 on all these random new characters only to have them fade away when a new one comes out and no one makes new content for them.

Why waist your money on yet another character, Victoria 6 is perfectly fine. Not to mention now the market is so fragmented that I cant even find what I need for any character. How do you expect your content people to keep up with all these changes let alone your customer base.

I still haven't used all the things from Josie for Gods Sake.

    All is lost.

All the content from Josie, and all the other G2F content, works on all of them.

As someone who does this on a budget, I feel like the release of V6, Gia and Olympia is a bit much! I know that Daz and the PA's need to make a living, but this seems greedy and counter productive. It feels like they are releasing these new characters too frequently, and that they have increased the price and you are getting less.
That being said I really like what they included in the Olympia package and wish I had the extra cash for her! Alas my extra money is being held back for getting the G2 morphs for male and female.

I’m going to hold out for G3F and Vicky 7. They should be out real soon!

For me, $30 for a morph and texture is too much. She is lovely. She has a nice figure to her. But the package doesn't have the value that entices me to open up Paypal. Certainly not the starter or pro bundles. Unfortunately, as someone recently returning to this hobby after a few years away, I'm finding this to be a recurring theme.

Welcome back JonnyRay! I hadn't seen you post in a long time.

With PC membership, at under $20, she's quite reasonable, I remember what we paid for V4 Elite textures several years ago, most of which didn't even have face or body shapes (I think Rob and Marie both had face presets) and this doesn't seem that bad. I might actually spring for the bundles, because I had been thinking of doing some tongue in cheek send ups of old pulp covers and movie posters, so some of those outfits would be perfect to be chased by a dinosaur in.

    Especially here http://www.daz3d.com/the-lost-world :-)

The Gen 4 Elite textures were $30 each.

And the morphs were a separate $30, though there was more than one morph in those purchases (3 for V4, 4 for M4).

Olympia is just the G2F equivalent of the Fantasia morph ($10) and one of the elite textures ($30).

I've been looking at all the character releases this way. Yes, the price is still steep, and if you don't want the texture, you can't get the morph, but she's not any more expensive than the Elite characters were.

I think the fact she's promoted as a figure and not a character set might be an issue for some people.

I mean, I look at her and see a V6 character, and for that it's a decent price. But, her texture is a custom UV.

My concern is what happens when G2F2 comes out? Will I be stuck not being able to use her texture set on the new set like I am now with David5 and G2M?

Therefore you can also have this: http://www.daz3d.com/heroine-for-genesis-2-female at almost half of the price.

I did not want to say that Olympia is bad. Or Gia or V6. It is just too much of the same kind in my taste. I would really like to see something different.

I don't see why you keep insisting that she looks the same as the others when she doesn't. Not saying she's the greatest character ever created or anything, but I think she does clearly bring some variety. She certainly doesn't look like someone who "works out but doesn't eat enough" or whatever. More like "someone who works out but still likes to eat".

Despite my rant against FBM characters over shaping expansion packs I like Olympia more than Gia or Victoria 6. I just wish the curvaceous shapes had been part of the Pro Bundle. My disappointment with characters over packs began with Stephanie 5, compare her base shape plus a curvy and model shape to S4's base plus a whole lot of proportioning morphs.

...I loved Steph4, she became my "go to" Gen4 female because of all the proportion and PBMs she had available. And she had a smaller stature than Vicky as well.

Steph5 was a bit of a disappointment in this respect ad she only had the base, curvy, and model shapes, none of which were really "petite" (I actually had to mix her with GenX/Steph4 to use the "petite" physique and NPMs).

Can't wait until the G2 update for GenerationX comes out. Then I can have Steph4 (and David5) for G2.

    because variety makes this interesting

Hm, funny. Variety is the thing that I really miss. All these G2F original figures (V6, Gia6 and Olympia6) look too similar in my eyes. Look at their belly region, their hips, arms, legs... all the same model with the same proportions. Nothing that you could not do with a morph package. There is no real variety, is it?

    I agree.
But it has a "6" on it, so it will sell.

    Yeah... because "Six"sells
    ....

...I still am using just the base G2F with the Head Morph Resource Kit, V4 Clone, Fantastic Females, and Growing Up morphs and getting along fine. Thought about Josie but I can already make a pretty good teen character with Growing Up and some patient morphing.

Also waiting for Growing Up for G2M and hopefully a Head Morph Resource kit for him as well.

I am happy with the timing Olympia release... the snowball savings can be used with her pro bundle.

I was prepared to have a similar opinion at the OP but after looking over the main Olympia product, to me she looks like a Frazetta built woman esp with SickleYields additional morphs.

I had the same initial reactions. ;-)

Even without the additional morphs by PAs it looked as if the Olympia character did take a little inspiration from Frazetta's style of illustrating women.

I was a little surprised to see another female character so soon and at first glance the promotional images didn't make her appear to be that different from what has come before. On closer examination, however, this character does have value in my opinion. Both the head and body morphs do add to the possible looks achievable with the G2 Female beyond the existing characters and morphs, but I do understand the desire expressed by some for even more versatility and greater variety in character types. This is something I desire as well.

This comment truly puzzled me. The Heroine for Genesis 2 Female has little or nothing in common with Frazetta's style of illustrating women and is" very" different from the Olympia character. :ohh:

...agreed. I think I paid something like 25$ for the original V.2 Pro Bundle when it came out (on sale) and I wasn't even a PC member yet.

To anyone who has Olympia, is she categorized as a Real World or Fantasy/Sci-Fi shape?

If you read the description for Olympia, she can be anything you want her to be.

Ah, now Socratease can finally have his Millennium Cow...

...being that i already have the original, I'll just be patient wait for the update. Messed up my base Genesis once already trying to force things to work, don't want to go through that again.

So far I've bought Josie and Girl 6.

If DAZ released the G2F zeroed base shape as a new character with a name, I would accidentally buy that.

G1 to G2 transfer is well worth the effort. I've transfered almost all morphs from G1 perfectly, including V4 GenX morphs. I might have miscalculated, but I now appear to have over 6000 morph targets for G2.

Honestly, I'm surprised at yet another female release right after M6. I thought we'd be seeing more men.

Teen Jayden looks to be the next figure, so there's another male coming soon, but I wouldn't expect a David or Hiro 6 to come out before another female figure. One has to remember that the main purpose of the figures is to sell the clothing/hair/texture/morph sets, which is where the real profit is for DAZ and most PAs, and female clothing (or semi-clothing, in the case of skimpware) sell far better than male anything. But hey, at least there finally ARE G2M figures...

Jayden is presented on the new compatibility chart, but he is not in the shop.
