*genuflects at the zippered leather altar of Ghastly and prays for a tutorial*
Experimenting with toon hair sculpting. Saddly it doesn't look like I can use normal maps with the Visual Effects toon shaders. >:-(
Really cute!
Doing some hard surface experimentation today. 9 days left on my trial. Definitely going to grab the software. Should hopefully be proficient enough in another month or two to start releasing some stuff made with it.
Woot! Figured out how to do multiple materials and UVs.
I've got to work on getting better at retopo though.
Bought the tutorials from DAZ so will have to find some time to watch them.
Looks really good Ghastly!
Looks like you've got the handle on this piece of kit, looking really good so far. Eagerly awaiting the first Ghastly 3Dcoat product. :-)
Those are some very promising little outfits -- I have 3D-Coat and if your looking for training stuff Liberty3D.com has a great series or three. Looking forward to seeing you roll out 3D-Coat created gear as well!
I've woke the Sheeple! Heaven forgive us! All is lost!
This is my trouble. Sister Hex has been nothing but a poofing crashfest for me, much more than any other type of software.
My frustration is super high because I built a reasonably modern system for this type of work, and Hex would have been such a simple and elegant way of working for me! But it's not, not even on a monster system such as mine:
Windows 8.1
Intel i7 (Sandy Bridge E) 6-core processor (12 threads)
nearly 2TB SSD storage; the rest is HDD.
64 GB DDR3 RAM
AMD Radeon HD7870 GPU
I have switched to Blender which is 64 bit and does not crash, but still being a DAZanatic, I desperately hope DAZ modernizes Sister Hex and Brother Bryce. 64 bit and customizable UI elements are a must, an absolute must. And then there's Cousin Carrara, already 64 bit, thank you very much; but needs work on the UI. Blender is free; the DAZ devs and designers should download it and see how well the UI has been designed. Font sizes, colors, dynamic expansion/splitting of the various workspaces and info shelves, it is ALL customizable. ALL of it!
I shall be patient for you DAZ. But also persistent, even if it is annoying. :smirk:
The more kick-ass your machine is the less likely it is to function with Hexagon. It's not a matter of the machine not having the power to run the software, it's a matter of Hexagon having no idea how to function in a modern environment. If you've got an old XP laptop sitting around unused that was a power-house "back in the day" then you'll probably be able to run Hexagon just fine on it.
I really wish Daz would stop charging people for Hexagon given its track record on modern machines. Sure it's only $20 but the development is abandoned and they have no intention of supporting it and taking money for such a program is frankly dirty pool and reflects badly on another wise fine company.
If they're going to continue to charge money for the program then they have a responsibility to ensure the software will run on modern machines and operating systems.
I totally agree with you Ghastly!
Well I'm an official 3D Coat user now. Just bought my license today. Should hopefully be up to speed on it to make a rudimentary tutorial in another month or so.
More work on the Sheeple today.
WOW...looks fantastic!
Grew bored with the sheeple. Making some sort of superhero costume it would seem. 1 boot finished, one to go.
Also made a Japanese styled bathing suit the other day. http://www.sharecg.com/v/75142/view/21/DAZ-Studio/Ghastlys-Japanese-Swimsuits-Genesis-1
Should have the Daz workflow down pat in a wee while to be able to make a tutorial.
I think I'm going to redo that pocket suit. Made a few mistakes in terms of pocket placement which cause distortion problems with the genesis weightmaps. I have to remember to avoid putting things around the shoulders to avoid misery later in the game.
