    lyre birds :)

Wow, too bad Ken Gilliland moved his store from DAZ, or he could have another project after looking at those lyre birds. They look exotic.

He made some in the Australian birds collection :)
He did? I only have his Corvus Corvus set, so didn't realize that. I love his bird collections, but I don't use birds in many of my outdoor/landscape renders, so have never bought any until just before he left DAZ.

his annual render challenge was something to look forward

He still has it...it's just over there at his new host. Or it's announced there, anyway. Maybe it's actually on his own site. Anyway, I saw the announcement for the contest. Open Rendering Season it's called.

Yes, I know. I don't know if the contest is there or not, though.

It's been a long day, I'm heading to bed in a few minutes.

    ....Monday, Complaints:

Woke up to find a pool of water on the floor in the outer room. Apparently it rained very very hard last night. Spent a good part of my morning mopping and sopping it up. Bottom landing in the stairwell outside was flooded too, so deep in fact the plastic drain grate was floating. Had to bail that out as well. Water is still oozing up between some of the floorboards when I step on them.

Have to go to the laundromat later this week to wash a bunch of towels I have on the floor.

Still very windy, been that was since yesterday afternoon. On he way back from the market yesterday had my hat blown off a several times and ended up just putting it in my carry bags for the bike ride home. Gusts were so strong, was nearly stopped in my tracks on a couple occasions.

Dumped a lot of apps and resumes off again this morning, brain is already tired.

Need to get a bunch of resumes printed off but don't have a working printer.

Thread ebots must be partying with our senators who are on vacation again.

Federal Holiday, no bank activity (waiting an a a transfer posting) and all state/federal offices closed. so much for checking into programmes and getting questions answered today.

    Monday Non-Complaints:

Signed up for a Big Job Fair Tomorrow which I will be going to (reason for needing the printed resumes). Yeah I know there will be a lot of people there but it means making contacts for networking so still a worthwhile venture.

Wisconsin beat #15 Michigan 75 - 62 in Ann Arbor bit of payback for them beating us at home last month. Moving back up in the rankings, now #16. Bonus: Sparty (Michigan State) lost to the Huskers dropping to #13

In Footy, Arsenal defeated Liverpool 2- 1.

Sun is at least out and it stopped raining.

DO you live in a house or apartment? If apartment contact your landlord to get the leak fixed. Good luck at the jobfair. They are always pretty interesting and a lot of people get jobs from them.

It's not a good idea to just leave that. You don't want problems with mold. You should let the landlady know about it and that something should probably be done. I've dealt with water in the (finished) basement a few times so I'm talking from experience. She could get ServiceMaster in there to remedy the water. Often they'll bring a couple of industrial blowers to move air around a lot, and an industrial dehumidifier to remove the moisture. Those floor boards could warp and buckle if not dried correctly. And as I said, there is the concern of mold. It shouldn't cost you anything, it's not your property. She might want to have someone investigate how the water got in there and have that fixed, too, unless it was ground water coming up from beneath the building...in which case a sump pump, properly installed, would help avoid that in the future.

...I am going to let her know about this when she gets back home tonight.

I do think it is from underneath as again the landing at the bottom of the steps by the door way was flooded as well.

Not having the full rent for this month (she is accepting what I can pay her) and no foreseeable income, I'm not sure if I have much to stand on at the moment. The other concern I have is it may just convince her to have me move out and have the entire place gutted and redone. Then I'm totally SOL as on top of looking for work I'd have to look for a new place to live and with no cash resources, that means the streets.

...just more ill timed rubbish in my life I guess.

Regardless if you owe or not they should still want to fix it if they are a respectable person. They don't want problems with there property in case they have to rent it out in the future.

Not only that, it could present a health risk to whoever is living there if mold develops...which develops pretty quickly sometimes. And besides that, if the floor boards buckle and warp, they present a tripping hazard. It's on the property owner if someone gets injured. it has nothing to do with how much you owe her for rent, it has to do with protecting herself from litigation and fines, and protecting her tenants if she cares.

Yes, by all means. I use to do mold remediation while I was in Texas. That stuff can kill you or make you deathly ill. If you have a weakened immune system it does a number on you. If you let it go to long and it develops quite a bit then the whole apartment needs to be gutted and remodeled. We gutted many houses and sat there scrubbing the framework with bleach and the chemicals used. Its a very expensive job

...facing the ongoing struggle of looking for work and having no foreseeable income right now, this is just one more headache I do not need to add to that list.
