lots of missing texture files in the recent updates.

try loading the KTD bed - full load prop in the khan's tiger den props set and you'll see what i mean.

i had quite a few other missing texture warnings when i loaded the scene i was working with yesterday.  but i don't know whether they were all related to the props set, or whether some of the base set's rumble in the jungle textures were compromised, too...

i've submitted a ticket.  crossing my fingers for a quick and painless update from tech support...

    :)

Hm, odd. No problems here. All props load fine and look good. Mine was a manual install. How did you install?

I did a manual install and It still says it's searching for files which don't exist (confirmed the search in the zip file). Positively, there are files missing for both the install manager or direct download from Daz site. There are exactly 160 image files including thumbnails for objects, but I haven't been able to load a single object without missing files. I will submit a support ticket. First time I've seen this.

That's mysterious. I just went through all te props and they all loaded fine without any error messages and look ok. I wonder what is going on. I did install the update over the previous install, I wonder if that's what the differeece is? Can you give me an example for what errors/missing files you get? Maybe I can track down why I have them and you do not.

I un-installed and deleted the package files. I restarted the system and re-installed with downloaded zip file from daz site.

I searched the database for Product 68739. I searched that folder for any of the missing files I had errors for (which subsequently seems to be all of them even though there are some files in there- just none that Daz is looking for.

I took the time to load each object and go through the missing files. I verified there is an error on all files.

I did a linear set of screen shots showing one example of the smart content on the left and then the interface where I could select a surface, load an image, search for the named mising image and the results of the search which is zero files. This is consistent for all objects.

You do realize that installing through DIM and installing directly in Studio (i.e., Connect) do different things? Installations through Connect will override the files and metadata of those done with DIM, so re-installing with DIM after installing with Connect will  have no effect. The thing is, DIM and Connect install files to physically different locations. The Smart Content relies on the metadata for the product, so if it doesn't match the version you are trying to use, you will have trouble. To properly reset the status, uninstall using  both methods, then do a cleanup of any references left behind (remove orphaned references). You will likely find them in Content Library -> Products -> Khan's Tiger Den ..., and/or Content Library -> Products -> LOCAL USER. Then re-install with your prefered method. (I recommend not mixing DIM and Connect, to avoid confusion).

Thanks for the tip, I will completely clear the file directories up. The thing is, I couldn't find the files that were being searched for anywhere at all (initially I had installed through DIM).

Well, as I said, I used manual install with the zip file downloaded from the contant library. The texture map you are missing is there as is everything else. I never use "smart content" for good reasons. Nothing but trouble. So there might be something messed up in the DIM and/or Connect install. Have you tried to load via the content library? Here is what I get when I load that prop as well as a Directory view of the downloaded Zip for the props that shows the file is included in the manual download. Hopefully DAZ can fix it for you soon or simply install manually.

Okay, I think I found the problem (this was next in the install queue). The texture bitmaps for the Props set is the same set as the base (minus a couple of items), so those specifically for the props that were not re-used from the base set are missing. Need another update for sure.

I double checked the downloaded zip file. Texture files with names like "KTD_Container3_C.jpg" do not exist at all. I did a totally fresh install of Daz on a separate computer just for this and the only piece of content I've installed is this - manually. A search of the entire zip file shows there are no such files.

Also having problem with textures for the props missing. I only install via DIM for DAZ content.

Was having no problems right after purchase of textures loading for the props. After the update yesterday (4/27), textures for the props are missing. Seems like a simple something that the update broke; maybe those that aren't having a problem didn't update?

Stellar set, BTW! Can't wait for these to be fixed.

uninstalling and reinstalling didn't solve my issues...the updates definitely need to be updated.

i do have a ticket in with help support about this, but hey:  the more, the merrier!

There has been some confusion with the textures and the wrong number of files included with the texture update for the props and the den. Some files were left out while others were included that didn't belong to that item. I have contacted Daz about this.

The base Tiger Den has 160 textures.

The TD Props has 100 textures.

Both install to the same directory. /content/runtime/textures/themanagement/KTD/

When both are installed some are over written and the final count should be 225 textures.

Rumble textres install to KTD2 and I don't think were effected.

Thanks for hanging in there while this gets figured out.

Ovr-writing textures may cause issues with Connect installs, since each product gets its own folder rather than the merging that happens with DIM.

  • jardinejardine Posts: 1,202

for reference:  i install via DIM--and uninstall via DIM before applying updates, if a product has been problematic.

    and i'm having issues.

  • Nothing would be overwritten because connect uses seperate folders so that should still work. There would just be some textures in both folders.

I was thinking about a manual install. At least that's how I have done all my Poser stuff for years. It was the only way I could find things. Poser is kind of a mess.

DS catagories are fantastic for organizing everything.

Ah, I thought you meant overwritten with a different version rather than the same file being in both products.

I ordered Props only (since I'm not intersted in the full bundle) and have pretty much same problem as others mentioned.

Finally, I made a manuall install with mix and match items from both Connect and Manual install. Part of the items work correctly and part still have absent textrures (Apple?). I submitted ticket to support and my guess is that proper packaging exists only in the full package (I cannot verify since I don't have it) and when publisher split it to few parts it was done in incorrect way and part of the textures were lost as well as not all directories correctly specified.

I suppose that if author watches this topic he or she should provide an update which corrects all specified issues.

PS I have many others DS products, some with issues but nothing in my library even close to this one. It would be nice to see some response from the publisher (@The Management)  and I don't know but might be also some nice gesture to impacted customers.

thanks, @xyer0.  she is very dialspun.  but a lot of her distinctive qualities come from quixotry's chooli character, it seems to me.

i'll post another render of her inside the den when and if i get the scene at least kinda right.  :)

    more on thread:

did the load-all-props-in-place preset make it into the latest update?  i didn't see it when i was working with the set earlier today...but then, i didn't look too hard.

very happy to have all the textures working again!

I have Chooli, @jardine, and you certainly sauced her up. Thanks for letting me know.

  • All the textures have been updated and are now correct per product.

The preset for the props did not make it into the update. I am dissapointed it wasn't included as I did include it the files.

I have contacted Daz to see if this can be corrected.

Sorry this release got so botched up. PASS did have some problems with the data folder and we did get that straightened up before the release, but all the textures were fine and should have never been reduced to incon size.

No one has fessed up for that.

would you consider just uploading the preset here?

it's a classic PA technique in situations like this.  time-tested and DAZ-approved.

daz's file upload system will rename the file something incomprehensible and we'll have to rename it, but we're used to that.

i'd love to be able to work with it this weekend.  i'm putting together a series of preload scenes based on subsections of the environment.

  • Jardine, thanks for the message.

Here is the Props preset. Please remember, this has not been fully tested so I hope it works for you who want to download it.

Please let me know if it works or not.

Thanks for getting this all sorted out. Thanks for the Props preset; it appears that the testing is the problem, not the solution. This is a stunningly beautiful set. I have absolutely no use for it in any of my stories, but I have to find an excuse to work it in, just for the sake of beauty. Please don't stay away so long.

the props preset works beautifully--thank you.

you've go tsome really nice arrangements and placements of prop items there.  crowns the set's barbaric splendor vibe really well.

  • Thanks guys. Glad to hear the preset works.

Some of you already know I have another set coming out soon.

Thanks for the compliments and support.
