Wow, @sade, those renders look stunning and the extra textures are fantastic!
Here are some shiny ones :) And some not shiny at all!
And this is the main image ....
I hope someone does make a saddle for it and maybe the release may inspire an artist to do so. No one seemed interested in doing so during the development process. I'm a bit tied down with projects myself but will take on the job if one is never made.
As far as the other question I cannot answer as we're not allowed to disclose release dates. All I could say is soon! ;)
Edit: See told you. Grab it here!
Bought, together with three pose sets. Things are going to get very lively in my runtime very soon now.
Cheers,
Alex.
i rather dislike all the daz dragon models so kind of glad this isnt one of them (and not just because it's a wyvern) as i think making a morph for those existing dragons must be very limiting.
It is limiting in one respect, especially from the creator’s perspective, but it would open up options for the user. Between the two options, I would prefer that this be a Dragon addon, but I understand HH’s reasons for not doing that.
thank you, cant wait for anybody use them <3
Fantastic figure, Herschel (no surprise). I've purchased many of your creations, but I suspect this one will become my favorite. The detail in your modelling never fails to give my NPR algos plenty to chew on:
Cheers!

its super cool
I think that it is okay to make individual models, just know that I have invested a lot of money into the variety of Dragon 3 expansions that I have, and had hoped that this was also one. Also having bought the wrong ticket to ride with one of HH's many Tyrannosaurus models to utilize his expansions, this would explain my gunshiedness to venture outside of the safe zone.
I have quite a few of the addons, and its expansion is full of variety.
Unless one has legitimately attempted to modify geometry into different shapes with reconstructing the geometry, then they don't really understand the limitations of this process and what all it impacts (geometry, rigging, uv maps, textures, etc). The dragon is highly anatomically incorrect, both in sculpting and in rigging (especially in its wings). You can also create almost any shape of these base figures but once the topology becomes very stretched, the UV maps also become strecthed in their projection onto the mesh. In other words, you can lose a LOT of quality and run into many problems. I've been working on this thing since last March (off and on) and a figure like this is already a LOT of work already without those problems. Yes all of things mentioned above are very possible but they will never be even in the same ballpark comparing them to the same thing built from the ground up in terms of quality. My one thing with all my products is quality comes first, always. Then comes optimizing and then versatility.
Any previous pose collection would not work anyways since my creature is anatomically very different. RiverSoftArt created a product so you can use your Dragon 3 poses as a starting point but that still works a lot better than trying to throw those poses on a new rig without an algorithm in place, even if it was a morph.Outside of poses, which RiverSoftArt's product solves, what products were you hoping to use?
A dragon 3 morph would definitely perform better in sales but I'm not chasing money. The quality of the product is always my end-game goal. I understand that this hinders some of my customers on the versatility deparment and I hear it everytime with every new figure I make. I respect the decision of not investing into the product becuase it doesn't meet your goals as well. We all have different goals and some things work better for others. The horse was done by a whole team of artists and to be fair, a horse's geometry and texturing is very simple and not covered with large and defining scales. I also don't know what the geometry of the their base figure looks like so I cannot comment on how hard or easy that would be. If they made my Wyvern, from a base human figure, with the same quality then I would be dropping money on them for information on how to do it.
I have requested to Daz many times that they make an official base creature figure with plenty of extra polys for strecthing and morphing. So that all products can be shared. This would be ideal and I would be the first one to jump on the train of making morphs. However, all their base figures geometry are highly optimized for that particular shape which make extreme morphing impossible without a large loss in quality.
I just gotta say, Herschel's dinosaurs are AMAZING, heck EVERYTHING he has done is so TOP NOTCH! I didn't even mind buying THREE different 'same' T-Rex models, because they were all that awesome. I just picked up the Wyvern and am getting ready to get something going with it.
Keep doing what you are doing, Herschel, just the way you are doing it!
Please never sacrifice quality for versatility.
love it!
Nicely done! Awesome light and scene!
But not, I'm pretty sure, rigged from Dawn - the shape is not the major issue here, though topology does matter.
Excellent render!
Also some more good news, E-Arkham did an enviroment set, which was intended to release with the Wyvern today is still getting released and just did so here.
That's pretty unusual for an item to be added to a sale after the sale hits and before the next day's new releases. Veeeery interesting...
And unfortunately it doesn't seem to be included in the bundle deal and is only getting a 30% discount.
Hopefully it won't be ANOTHER late banner debacle like with Dasan 8 - WOE to the early buyers! ;)
A quick use of the Wyvern ...
I couldn't agree more. I've bought most of Herschel's monsters (both the fantasy ones and the dinos) and the main reason I did so was the exceptional levels of detail in both the mesh and the textures.
Cheers,
Alex.
