    Entry Nr: 3
    Title: “Esthetic” surgery
    Author: DUDU

Here my entry improved a little compared to the WIP…
This image is my “Punch line” and there is no comment to add…
I built all the objects of the scene, except the three characters (2x V4 + M4) and their clothing which I strongly modified to resemble to the clothes of nurses.
The shaders of liquids are in the glass of the door and inside the pocket of drug.
If you want to really know what makes laugh the two nurses, click on the link lower...
NB: it is a “purely surgical” act and do not see there anything else!
Render one pass and fortunately, no postwork...;-P
    Thank you.

    Joke-

    - There was a man who liked to play fetch with his dog with a tennis ball in the park. One day, with the tennis ball in his pocket, he came across a blonde Aggie along the park trail. While the people chatted, the dog kept lunging and barking for the tennis ball in the man’s pocket. “What have you got there,” the blonde Aggie asked nodding to the lump in his pants.
“I’ve got a tennis ball.” The man replied.
“Oh, I’m so sorry,” the blonde Aggie looked concerned. “It hurt like a devil when I had tennis.”
Confused, the man asked, “what do you mean you had tennis?”
    And the blonde Aggie replies...

    Joke-

Old man Murphy had worked down at the brewery for years, but one day , he just wasn't paying attention and he tripped on the walkway and fell over into the beer vat and drowned.

The foreman thought it should be his job to inform the widow Murphy of her old man's death. He showed up at the front door and rang the bell. When she came to the door, he said, "I'm sorry to tell you, but poor old Murphy passed away at work today when he fell into the vat and drowned."

She wept and covered her face with her apron and after a time, between sobs, she asked, "Tell me, did he suffer?"

"I don't think so," said the foreman: "He got out three times to go to the men's room.

Credits: I can't find it on at the DAZ store, but I got the submarine way back as a freebie from DAZ along with some other military vehicles. It shows up in my runtime under DAZ Vehicles. I did shader work on the bump channel, highlight, shininess and reflection. I used Carrara's ocean primitive and replicated it.

Postwork: I rendered object index, coverage and used those to separate the elements in my full render while I worked in post. I also rendered using 55 percent ambient to give the effect of reflected light.
I used various Ron's brushes to paint in the snow and icicles. Used a footsteps brush to add the footsteps, added a internal drop shadow to make them look dented in thse snow.
To soften the hard edges I took resulting image into painter 13 and cloned the image three times with various qualities - eg smart blur, saturation and tonal histogram, then used those three renders as clone sources for my final work. I took the resulting painting back into ps and adjusted the opacity till I was happy, then saved that out as a tif and took it into oloneo hdr software to tweak the contrast in the details. The idea was to approach thestyle of an old fashioned Christmas card... kinda

For the painting step I used an Intuos pro. Highly recommend them http://www.wacom.com/en/us/creative/intuos-pro-m

Then I sat on my bottom and had a cup of cha.

I'm going to be MIA this weekend, so I'll get my votes in now. In no particular order:

#1 by Totte. I used to work for Fiskars, and I always suspected they were northern Europe's rednecks. Nice to see it confirmed.

#2 by kashyyyk, which is also ironically about #2. ;-) I know you didn't want anyone to vote for you, but what can I say? I'm evil.

#11 Two snowmen, by Headwax. My only quibble is the snow isn't yellow, unless maybe they're supposed to be on a frozen over Bondi Beach. ;-) Those of us with regular snowfall know well the hazards and implications of yellow snow, whereas you OZzies just know yellow brick roads, so I'll let it slide this time.

    Honorable mention:
#8 Tennis Elbow, by diomede64. The only blonde joke in the contest, although at first I thought a blonde Aggie was slang for some kind of light colored Agate.

As always, it was very difficult to come up with the winners as they all were very unique and original renders. I wish everybody the best of luck!

Thanks again to our fine sponsors, DAZ 3D and sadot!

    Entry #9

    #8 diomede64- Blonde joke

well another tough choice, I just read the drowning in the vat joke and cracked up :)

    Now in no particular order.

Evil Producer #6, because it's an eggsellent image, and it looks like evil made the joke up himself

Stezza #4, because the whole image is a class act, there's just enough elements to tell the story - which is, in itself a fine art

Philemo #5 : great concept, there's plenty going on in the background as well as the foreground to keep our interest

very difficult to give an HM, really like Totte's and Duddu_00001'a compositions but I think I will give it to

Diomede64 #7 because I like the rain effect

Great work everyone, especially kashyyyk and BIG thanks to our sponsors Daz and Sadot, we Carrara users really appreciate that.!

Here are my votes. The entries each had such great attributes so i decided on an arbitrary standard to eliminate some just to make it easier on myself. I penalized (but didn't disqualify) entries in which the water shader (the challenge requirement) was not an essential element of the joke. Thus, I eliminated my Aggies joke because you could remove the water in the fountain and the joke still remained untouched. I know, my standard is crap, but the entries were each so interesting that I was looking for arbitrary things to separate them.

As usual, I prefer what is photo-realistic, and without postwork (if not, where is the interest of this challenge dedicated to Carrara ?).
I prefer also the made up scenes with objects created by the author, therefore here my choice:

    - Artist - Philemo
    - Title - Professional courtesy!

Some tough calls. I tried to keep the contest requirements in mind while making my selections.

    #1 - Philemo - The Drowning Vat
    #2 - Philemo - Professional Courtesy
    #3 - evilproducer - Who laid who?

    HM: Stezza - safe sex!

Wow, Philemo rocked that one...great joke for the #1 slot. I loved the "just naughty enough" thinking behind evilproducer's entry.

Yay, it's voting time! I always enjoy seeing what you've been up to over here.

Once again you've made it tough to choose between these. There were some very funny goings-on here from you all.

After much deliberation, I'm voting for:

#5 - Professional Courtesy! by Philemo. Clever take on an old joke and loads of detail make this a winning render for me.
#11 - Two Snowmen by Headwax. Love that snowman's expression and of course your great work with the snow.
#8 - Tennis Elbow by diomede. Great joke with just the right visuals, made me laugh!

Tie-breaker: #1 How do you make a Finnish Summer soup by Totte. He has such a devious expression and the vodka looks very believable!

Best of luck to all entrants!
