    original image Wikipedia CC

using Philemo's CutOuts and some DAZ bits

lathed the vase and mapped the texture to it in Carrara, baked it with Inagoni baker and tidied it in Gimp

most of this was heaps of work in Gimp, Carrara the easy part

made hair density maps too there

am rendering an animation, will be a while

I rigged the cutout and animated the texture (with Crazytalk on the face)

Carrara render because it crashes Octane

  • Wendy,

That is excellent work, especially the top image.

Update to my forest scene.  Added more plants, the building, some particle fluff and the fog on the water using a Clouds primitive.  Seems to be a glitch with clouds, not sure if it is something I am doing.  If you look at the foreground weeds the clouds has rendered some kinda rectangular patches.  I basically stretched one Clouds primitive over the entire water so maybe that is doing it.

    Wow, very impressive, Wendy.

Am I correct in assuming that that is the Albert Mansion?

    A Howie Farkes Scene

I can't figure out why the stream is blocked.  But it still looks amazing.

Most of the trees in his scenes are hidden from view so our computers don't cough digits when we open them. I'm sure there's a vantage point that works. Here's one from, hmmm... Sprucedale, I believe?

Vale Alpina you need to delete the fill trees

they are there for shots from the other direction

I wonder if there's a way to use Way Back Machine (or something) to recover the old "Art Zone" articles from Howie Farkes? He had amazing notes regarding all of the various tests he did with his products - tips on different render/shader settings, etc., Had I only known they would disappear... forever???

WIP Sci-fi space port of some kind.  Made a background city scape.  Probably won't see much of it in the end but needed something back there.  I should put the Tyrell building in there :)

    Albert Mansion

it has a lot of transmaps!

So Octane loves it, Carrara Native not so much

Carrara native. I don't have Octane

  • I'm impressed! Carrara's renderer never gets enough credit.
