Thanks. The pool had regular clear water, but I added some blue water shaders to pack more punch!

And yes more Boyd Owen Toons!

Another good take. Sort of reminds me of Shaggy & Fred from Scooby-Doo (which by the way, the original series is now on the Tubi channel if you know what that is, I have watched a couple shows just to hear the opening theme song, which is very mellow sounding, despite the lyrics not exactly agreeing).

Toon Generation 4 Essentials for Genesis 8 Male is buggy.

When installed the morphs affect all characters, and when characters are zeroed out they become Toon Generation 4 baby.

Quite sloppy work with this product, and poor testing. I had to uninstall it and put a ticket in. This is very frustrating since I would like to use the stuff I buy.

The bug is quite visible to all who used it, since Tg4 morphs are showing as dialed in to all figures. This is base male when I zeroed his morphs.

A ticket was submitted but this is not a new release. I'm shocked it's been this way for some time

I think I've seen this problem before, but it doesn't seem to be happening to me now. How did you install TG4 (DIM, Daz Connect)? What character did you load in the first place, before you zeroed it? How did you zero out the character (Zero Figure, Zero Figure Shape? manually dialing out parameters)?

TG4 is installed in DIM. It puts the morphs for all characters. In this case, base male, when zeroed turns into the baby. You can see that the TG4 morphs are active for all male figures.

I just bought the product. I submitted a ticket, but lately support doesn't fix stuff.

Hmmm.... I think I may have modified some of those TG4 parameters to set the default value to 0 to fix that problem. What is the default value of your Enable TG4 parameter?

yup I have the same issue and I manually install ,happens when I zero shape ,

This is what my Enable TG4 parameters settings look like. What do yours look like? My memory has faded on what I did to these things.

I think I may have fixed it so the infant, etc. only get dialed in if Enable TG4 is above 0.

I don't have the enable TG4 that I can see. I looked in hidden properties

Unfortunately, the morph was poorly saved, and is now universal.

I search for enable, and see nothing.

OK, that seems to confirm how I fixed it, then. I had to look up tutorials on how to do that and I couldn't do it again from memory. It involves putting the Parameters pane into Edit Mode and dragging things to the Property Hierarch tab, I believe. ERC Freeze is probably involved and saving the change.

It is a product bug and CS should fix it.

I submitted a ticket, but haven't had much luck with technical tickets lately.

Actually just bought this Mega Bundle & the Interactivde license to go with it but hadn't tried it yet.

A similar thing happens with the prior version of the Toon Generations for Genesis 8 too but it's just a slider or two seemingly beings active and zeroed but isn't actually visible in the viewport on the character(s). I disregardeded it as a short coming of DAZ Studio's flexibilities in making ERC linking.

Maybe the PA of 3D Universe (@3DU) can educate us better on what's going on?

  • barbultbarbult Posts: 24,223

The PA simply didn't use the features of Daz Studio to make some morphs dependent on another morph. It is a product bug, not a Daz Studio limitation.

If just tried what Serene Night verbally explained with a character I expressly bought to mix with the Toon Generation 4 Mega Bundle, Otis, and it worked fine when I zeroed it out, both Otis, and the TG4 characters. It also didn't matter whether I loaded Otis first as the character and than applied & zeroed out TG4 sliders or loaded TG4 male first and then applied and zeroed out Otis sliders. See attached three images.

I do think the TG4 infant baby seems small compared to the older TG4s, at least when Otis as older than one is applied. I'll have to look at real life infant refences and older people in advertising photos.

That makes me think Serene has left out steps in her explanation, uses an old version of DS (I use 4.15.0.2, I think, whatever the lastest is), or has some way overwritten a default G8.1 Male configuration file of some sort.

    Nothing Mysterious

    I use 4.11. I do not use G8.1

There is nothing exciting to report. I install Toon Generations Essentials Thereafter, I get the baby when I zero Genesis 8 male.

Also, there are sliders that are enabled related to toon age, on all my males. They do nothing, but they shouldn't be there if I don't dial them in

  • barbultbarbult Posts: 24,223
Manually zeroing out TG4 sliders is not the same operation as zeroing the figure, which is a single built in Daz command. It is the latter where the problem appears, in my experience.

The file which causes the problem is: 3duG8MToonGen4Infant.dsf  When I remove that file, no more babies when I zero G8M.   I should say that when the character's shape is zeroed: 3duG8MToonGen4Infant.dsf is enabled 100 percent for unknown reasons but also hidden.

I am not keen really on morphs being loaded with all my characters even if they do nothing. I really don't want Toon morphs loaded at zero or 1 on every

    figure.

In addition to the baby issue:

Toon Gen (3dU) Age is loaded at 1

Toon Gen (3du) Auto-posing loads at zero

and TG4 Age also loads at 1 on every figure.

I removed 3duG8MToonGen4Infant.dsf for now. I can add it back in when I need to use the baby. Because, this product is unlikely to be fixed, judging by my past experience.

But as they say "Hope Springs Eternal"

@nonsuch00 I use the latest public version of DAZ Studio and have the same issue with ToonGen 4, and would say just load Genesis 8 male then hit Zero shape and see what happens .....

OK, I see, soory. It was ambiguous statement prior as both are zeroing/reverting to default to my thinking.

Otis is 8.1 but TG4 loads as 8.0

Regardless, it does happen to Otis for G8.1M and in the latest version of DAZ Studio & DAZ Studio Public Beta.

    Steps to cause bug:

    a) A new scene:

    b) Load Otis for G8.1M

    c) DAZ Studio - menu - Edit > Figure > Zero > Zero Figure

    Now the errors:

    a) Toon Gen (3DU) Age goes from 40.00 to 1.0

    b) TG4 Age goes from 21.0 to 1.0

    c) TG4 No Teeth goes from 0.0% to 100%

What I notice is that the Enable TG4 slider stays at 0.0 on Otis but the TG 4 sliders still are active. The Toon Gen (3DU) Strength from the 1st TG product for G8M also stays at 0.0.

When I do the able to the TG 4 Base Character it also activates the TG4 Baby.

Same happens when I load a TG3 for G8M character.

    So,

    a) When using DAZ Studio - menu - Edit > Figure > Zero > Zero Figure, the TG4 Age and the Toon Gen (3DU) Age should stay at the default age. Same happens when I load a TG3 for G8. Nowhere is it explicitly said what the default age for TG3 for G8 but I think it is 40.0. The default age for TG4 is 21.0 not 1.0 so that is part of what is causing the error. However, the TG3 for G8 age slider does not effect the G8 or G8.1 character when Toon Gen (3DU) Strength is at the 0.0% default. The same is not true for the TG4 Age slider it affects G8M and G8.1M whether or not Enable TG4 is at 0.0% or 100.0% and that is a bug. It's like the "Enable TG4" did not get properly linked.

3DU should be able to fix that easily enough.

If you own Yvanovich hair, and haven't been able to use it because of the bug which makes it not fit the head, SickleYield generously made a fix for it here: https://sharecg.com/v/97655/view/21/DAZ-Studio/Yvanovich-G8M-Hair-Patch#commentAnchor

Here's more legacy of the 3DU infant morph. It seems to interfere with expressions.  Brow Outer Down and Brow Outer Down Right for infant are dialed in hidden and are affecting expressions on G8M

Like the comic effort. What do you use for text boxes? Seems real cohesive as a page.

So, spent some time weeding through my Morphs folder and chucking faulty morphs and characters with JCMS, that are being incorporated in other characters. It is a bit surprising just how much of this is out there. I do think the worst appear to be 3DU's morphs. (I looked and I have a ticket that is 2 years old that has never been fixed for bad morphs). I've found the Infant, and the Toddler triggering at weird times, so I chucked them.

But I've found JCM's from Joe Quick's Toon Boy, clothing, tail morphs, and torso and neck morphs. Even Hal, whom I love has several neck morphs that trigger JCM's when Hal is not dialed in.

Someone at the store seriously needs to install these products and pose base male a few times and file tickets for products that are taking up figure space when they aren't being used. This kind of extra hidden morphs can really drag you down. Even though I purged many thousands of morphs when I pruned the data folder, I still have many thousands left. So clearly this is the tip of the iceberg.
