Thanks. I didn't recognize it. I have that set. I knew it was cool, just not THAT cool!
@SerenNight - thank you for this thread, I've just had a very pleasurable time reading through it, and making some additions to my wishlist, and some deletions too, thanks to your product hightlights and lowlights. Thanks also to those other contributors who shared their thoughts on various products. Also, it was fascinating to see the migration of Owen and Boyd to G9.
Definitely, thank you! I had the chaosrunner outfit and had completely forgotten about it. Here it is with Arken:
He turned out good! I like the way those pants look on him! That outfit is a winner!
Here's my Current Owen. I changed the skin and made some further tweaks to the arms. Things may change again, but I am closer now with this Genesis 9 Version.
He's wearing the Combat Uniform undershirt and pants. I didn't want to bother taking the Nametag off- which reads Baker.
Excellent! We are very glad to have you here!
He looks really good and very Owenish. It must be about time for Genesis 10, so you can start all over again.
I decide to use the pants on my autumn elf (?) if Brixim Tinklebit counts as an elf:
That looks really good, and you did a fabulous job with the lighting, and the orange pumpkin theme and I like the steampunk monacle!
The new shader is very interesting to me. I'm not sure overall how great it will be without providing more content, but its pretty fun to mess around with. Here is an Elf done in the anime/filament style
I wish there were some adjustments for the male nipples, they look kind of too much like the female ones to me. I'm not sure why exactly. Maybe just the HD morph not showing up because its a toon outline?
That relatively flat style looks more like Bakshi than anime, which I think is fitting for your aesthetic.
That looks great. I bought the Vicky 9 Bundle and the Filitoon Genesis 9 Anime Shape Extension Pack and am quite happy with it.
I have it sitting in my cart. I think the textures and content would be useful to incorporate with other toons like 3du's stuff. Haven't bought it yet.
in general I prefer more mature looking figures, so my use for anime stuff is mostly because I want the morphs for the eyes and the textures.
I am curious where the dark elf shape is mentioned in this bundle https://www.daz3d.com/vicky-9-character-bundle
The dark elf is a Premier exclusive. From what other people have said, it's automatically added to your account, not purchased separately.
Ah too bad, I would have liked to at least look at the promos.
Here, I shaded Boyd with the toon shader. It turned out pretty well. I hope there are more 'defined' male options to show muscles and a bit more definition.
Considering how the toon outline works, I think you would have to paint the lines onto the texture to get muscle definition.
You beat me to it, I was going to ask what Boyd & Owen look like with Filatoon. Boyd looses some of his mech/android appearance, it was already subtle.
Another thing about the Dark Elf shape is you have to download it via DAZ Connect which I don't like because it results in double installs in 2 locations of, at current date, 161 DAZ products I've already installed with DIM.
With additional body overlays such as they did with makeup, you could add more cut-ness to the body, and details to the face.
For example, I'd like a midmorning shadow and some adjustments for smaller, less big eyes. I think overlays would work as well for the muscles.
Your FilaToon Boyd and Owen samples are awesome, SereneNight!
When that feature comes to the Mac version of DS, I'd like to try it out. Like you, I'd want to be able to get more definition lines on the characters. Still, what you're getting looks wonderful.
Looking forward to more examples of FilaToon Boyd and Owen.

Here's more.
I think if I can define the underside of the pecs, it will help.
I may need to dial the size of the hands down a bit. They are super puffy with the shader applied.
I think anytime you can add some extra lumpiness it makes for better shadows. So it might be that adding morphs that emphasize certain physical characteristics might work better for this. We shall see.
Okay so experiments continue. I dialed in some 'orc body fitness' details to Boyd to see what would happen and lowered the Mass of his hands. The Orc details increased the shadows on his stomach, arms and pecs. Now normally that might be overkill but I'm trying to increase some detail. I guess we'll have to do a straight-on render to see what it really does.
Ironically his hands might be a bit too detailed now
It's possible to get more muscle definition, but maybe not with the flatter style that you're using. Here are a few examples of base Ashan 8:
Interesting! I would nevrer have thought of doing that!
For those looking for a way to add better Pecs, SickleYield has a free morph set on ShareCg which includes a 'pecs together' morph. This morph gave the guy some visible pecs which I think worked well.
The XI Anime Convenience Store
is a lot of fun, with some nice realistic Asian groceries Unfortunately, it's pretty unwieldy to use because you have to view it in filament and seems a bit bigger than normal. The results are nice though lots of good items to flesh out your shopping scenes.
Owen looks good!
