EDIT: thanks for the thought Cho - the only consolation is the rumour that there may be a version 3 upgrade price (there certainly wasn't one for owners of the last version here, v1.25 >:-( ... ah well, c'est la vie -_-).

I'm wearing contact lenses for the first time in a decade. Before, I was wearing hard contact lenses but after moving down and dealing with all the dust and sand, I stopped wearing them and switched full time to glasses. But I decided to try out contacts again, this time the soft lenses. I still need to buy a new pair of glasses but I need to do the pricing game first.

...ahh nine pages of catchup finally done (and none spilled on the shirt).

    End of spammage for today.

    Complaints:

--Have to leave a bus earlier than usual to make my connection adding another 20 min to the commute (and they have the nerve to call themselves the "Nation's Best Transit system").
--Autumnal aches and pains returning with a vengeance.

    Non Complaints:

    --Payday tomorrow
--Three paycheques this month, should be caught up financially by the beginning of November.
--Will have Net from home again this weekend (yay!)
--Weather to improve starting today. Will be sunny and in the low 80s this weekend and 70s through the next week.
--May go to German pub on Saturday to have my own "Oktoberfest".

    Always enjoy your catchups.
Hooray for payday and home internet! :cheese:

Yeah, I'm going to take it slow. Today, I'll wear my glasses to work. Tomorrow, I'll start wearing the contacts - it took me quite a number of tries to get the contacts out last night. I'm not used to 'pitching' the lenses out, as that would break the hard contacts. I'm going to need to buy real sunglasses, instead of the clip ons I have now, so it's best to wait a day.

me thinks Old English and Middle English totally separate languages.

    from cnafa to knave?

    Full Definition of KNAVE
    archaic
    a : a boy servant
    b : a male servant
c : a man of humble birth or position
    2: a tricky deceitful fellow
    3: jack

    Origin of KNAVE
    Middle English, from Old English cnafa;
akin to Old High German knabo boy
First Known Use: before 12th century

who was making up the spelling back then? :blank:

    Dastard is a real word?

    Definition of DASTARD
    1: coward
2: a person who acts treacherously or underhandedly

    Origin of DASTARD
    Middle English
    First Known Use: 15th century

whiskey tango hotel how could anyone dislike a dog?
    cur
a dog that is a mix of different breeds
a low, bad, or disliked dog

i always thought of cur as a pirate cuss word.

English itself is a mongrel language in it's origins. Before first the Romans and then Later the Angles and Saxons invaded Britain the tribes would have spoken British dialects. (more akin to modern Welsh than the current English language is). English has a lot of germanic influence as the Angles and Saxons were germanic tribes. It also has some words that come from the vikings and other Norse invaders, plus some french influence form William the Conqueror and his Norman invasion, and of course it has some words which come straight from Latin, all this mixed up with the original british and celtic languages.
