Thanks for quick response. I guess I'll just use Reality with my DAZ studio 4. I don't use DAZ Studio 3 that much anyway.

From the download page of the Reality website

Order numbers have been issued by Pret-a-3D, Renderosity and DAZ. They are all accepted in this form.

However, as a footnote: As a test, I did also try to download the version for DAZ Studio 4 from the Reality site and got the same error message that the order number and serial number don't match. This is not too important because I can always download from DAZ; but does point out that your site is not accepting the DAZ order number and therefore I can't download from your site.

Hi. I bought Reality for DS and installed it this morning and I read the manual right up to where it says "Call up Reality" For the life of me, I can't figure out how to do that. Help?

If the plugin is installed correctly it should be visible from the Render menu. There could be a bug in Studio that prevents that.
To solve it switch your Studio layout to another one and then switch back to the layout that you normally use.

Otherwise you can use the keyboard shortcut: Ctrl-Shift-L for Windows, Cmd-Shift-L for Mac

    Hope this helps.

The first few times it didn't load. Then it started working and hasn't failed since. Thanks all!

I haven't rendered in Luxrender, got tired of waiting for the results and many times a 48-hr render would be ruined with fireflies. I am waiting for the firefly issue to be resolved and maybe then I will try again. And, yes, I know why the fireflies happen, it still sucks and there are many instances where fireflies can't be dealt with no matter what tips and tricks I use.

fireflies bug fix was implemented in LuxRender 0.9, the version at the time of this writing is 1.3.1a. You may be getting highlights from over glossy material and exposure but you should not be getting fireflies. Have you asked this over at the Reality forums on Runtimedna? I'd start there and post a pic of what you're seeing.

I have the latest everything. And Yes, one of the biggest issues is fireflies, nothing was fixed in 0.9. The issue still lives. Outdoor scenes with water are a killer for me. If you just want to render skimpy Victoria with LuxRender it will not annoy you as much.

I know all the tricks there are, I have done some of the most lifelike renders with Reality around. An example is my hanging fruits portrait. Here is the non-nude version: http://www.beammeup.net/blog/2013/04/03/hanging-fruits-portrait-clothed/

I don't want to derail this thread, so I will not comment anymore on this.I must be more blind than I thought. I don't see any fireflies in that pic.

    Hello everybody.

Just wanted to say hello now that we are back here at DAZ.

Reality for Studio is at version 2.5 and it is the one and only. The program that started it all before anybody else and the one that is easier to use. At 50% of it's an opportunity that you should not miss.

You can follow all the development of the next version at out blog: http://preta3d.com/category/blog/

    Cheers.

Patiently (cough) waiting for version 3 and learning to do better skin.

    Greetings,
I...don't mean to be a sour patch, but I bought Reality here back in the day, and I only use it on DAZ Studio, but it's not showing up as purchased for me.

I'm curious if this is going to matter...?

I believe that was version 1. I bought it the second I saw it here "back in the day," but I sure version 2 I ordered through Paolo's site.

It is good to see him back here posting. As was before, this thread is starting to run like mad. Oh...the good ole days...

Stupid question; how do I install reality? I know there is no dim files. Also does reality only work for the current Windows user or everyone on the computer? I have two user accounts on my computer at the moment but that is another topic.
Also which luxrender works with reality? Is there a 64 version of Luxrenderer?
Yes, LuxRender is available for 64bit Linux. I use several Linux boxes on my network to do renders that are started on my Mac.

    Hi Charlie.
If you received that message it means that the information that you entered don't match the registration.
To download the program you must enter the same data that was entered at the moment of registration.

You can retrieve your license information from the Support menu of our website. Look for "Retrieve your Reality license"

Here is the direct link to the page:

    All the best.

Thanks. Actually I guess I was getting ahead of myself and was playing around with trying to download before I had installed the program. So, I didn't realize there was a separate registration as part of the installation. Now that I have installed the program and completed the registration process downloading from your site seems to work fine.

I look forward to trying it but the installer keeps quitting on my Mac 64bit version. Not the programs fault but a bad installer.
re-downloaded the whole thing again and that one took so all is well. : )

I found the scene files. The date on the last render on that particular scene is 3/21/2013. I see plenty of Fireflies. That image is till noisy, but the fireflies are distinguishable from the noise. Especially the ones around the tree trunk and the Catoblepas.

The LuxRender version had to have been the 1.2, not .90 or 1.0.

This is an outdoors scene with a lake, and the lights include an IBL.

We need to see the scene and the lighting/materials used. If there is a lot of overlighting using Infinite Light, which should be avoided at all costs, it might happen but we are talking about fringe situations. I did not see any FFs in years now so it might be an issue of setup.

We should start a new "Reality renders" thread for discussing render configurations.

    Cheers.

I've looked at Linux too but I'm a bit nervous of installing Ubuntu or similar because Luxrender doesn't seem to have a package installer for any flavour of Linux except Arch Linux. Which Linux do you run?

At the moment my main computer is an iMac and my "slave" is a Windows 7 box. I have another older PC sitting doing nothing so I'd like to set that up as Linux slave.

On a more general note, Reality made a huge difference for me. I'm one of those who could never tweak the lighting rigs to get the render the way I wanted in 3Delight. After years of producing pictures of Ken and Barbie plastic dolls, my first Luxrender image with a single light was orders of magnitude better than anything I had managed previously. Unless I'm doing a cartoon, I only render via Reality these days. (I have Luxus too but could never get the same quality so it sits on my computer "gathering dust").

I do hope that DAZ will allow Paolo to set his own price for R3 because, like many others, I only buy what is on cut-price sale here. The regular prices are too rich for my pocket - I'm a hobbyist on a state pension. I am still using V4 because there is still a lot of content for her at reasonable prices. I like the look of G2F but I find I would also need to buy a morphs bundle and, if I want to use my V4 content, another V4 for G2F model.

While I agree, we have to be realistic - anything that relies on a simple serial number gets pirated in not time flat, registration schemes do at least slow that.

I finally got the registration for the poser version done. apparently when I copied and pasted the serial number the last two digits were cut off.

I got it registered and I cannot figure out how to use it now.

If it requires me to re-register to fund developers for working their butts and keep great products in development then so be it.
now do I need to do it and if so how?

Please read the included Reality User's Guide, it explains the program in great detail. Also, take a look at the videos in our YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/PretA3D

What version of Poser do you have? Reality requires Poser 9 with SR3 at the minimum. Poser Pro 2012 or Poser 10/Pro 2014 with SR3 are also good.

With those you have Reality in the Poser Render menu.

The registration is done only once and it happen automatically the first time that you run Studio after installation or the first time that you call Reality from Poser.

I just wanted to mention the requirements for Reality for Poser:

    - Poser 9/Pro 2012 with SR3 or Poser 10/Pro 2014 with SR3

That note was included when I submitted the product but it didn't make it in the final draft. I asked DAZ to update the product page but in the meantime I wanted to post here, in case people are wondering. SR3 is the Service Release 3 which is available from Smith Micro.

    Cheers.

    Hi.

Just downloaded the updated 2.5 from your website. I got an error though when I tried to register it: ER09, serial number is incorrect but the serial I entered into the web page box allowed me to download so not sure what's happened.

Can you please set me straight on what needs to happen?

    Thanks
