Here you go.  Can you guess what inspired this cover?

    Feels too wooden.

mschack - nice Pink Floyd cover !!!

Philemo - great use of HDRI ! To be current I would change the title to "On the phone again"

Diomede - looking good, maybe a bit more work on the poses ?

Thanks for the suggestion, Bunyip.  I did a little tinkering in postwork, but no more time for me.

I had planned to do something with a comedy album, but it would require more time than I have this month.  sad

EDIT:  Swapped out update in order to fix some minor poke through of Cher's shirt through Sonny's vest.

Stuff of Legends - front cover, gatefold and back cover

This is my idea of a "best of" (more or less) Queen album.

    Front Cover

Knight Errant, Daz Roses, and some very shiny Carrara text altered in the modeling room.  As always, basic adjustments with GMIC.  No postwork.

    Gatefold

This one evolved.  It started with me trying to copy a pickup truck that Freelight modified in the modeling room and posted a while back.  I added a beefier engine and some whitewalls.

The knight is Knight Errant again, this time all shiny.  Characters are M3 and V4.  The castle is Blenworth.  I modified the terrain to add the brick surface.

The gatefold album itself is a plane modified in the modeling room. I prerendered the scene, then applied the render to the plane using a Layers List (I was going to add a border, but liked it better without one).

From there I applied text, and added the amp.  All text was made using Carrara Text.  Even though the amp from sharecg came with text, I simply deleted it and used Carrara text instead.

    No postwork

    Back Cover

I want to ride my bicycle!

    No postwork

Too many amazing works! I hate i can't spend much time on this hobby, but well, i had a couple of hours this night and got to make a pretty simple entry.

As fan of Liv, making her single album was the obvious choise for me. I hope to have some hours in the week to make it better.

    Products used:
    Genesis 8 female.
    Evenstar for G8F
    Andria Hair for G8F
    Trend Setter for G3F
    GoZ for Carrara

    Thanks Bunyip!

Mschack, I have another question.  Is my cover and gatefold a single entry, or is it two separate entries?  I am fine with either decision, thanks.

  • mschackmschack Posts: 337

I originally thought just one, but now you make me think lol...  I would say just one entry as people would vote on the merits of both images, giving you a better chance I suppose.  I think it just makes things easier but if anyone has a contrary opinion i will definately listen.

The pic you are showing is the "Original album cover" my render doesn't have the text. :)

Oops, sorry about that.  Your cover looked very close.  I bet that you could get it even closer if you NPR'd it by used GMIC and toon3 filtering.   And that would make it a new render, so you could enter it. :)

    A bit of catch up.

    Final result

Those colors really pop!  Nice pose, and the font is just perfect.

Headwax, nice soft lighting and composition.  And I think you are right, she is closer to a young Roberta Flack. :)

Namtar, great to see you posting!  Looking forward to the finished product.  However, sometimes I worry about your Liv Tyler obsession. wink

Some excellent homages, Headwax (top) and Mschack (bottom).  BTW HW, I agree with Bunyip about your render.  Your color (or colour) version was nice, but the B&W version is extra special.

OK, thanks!  As for voting, I think that entering two images as a single entry could be a plus or a minus, so it probably doesn't matter in the long run.

Also, it is good to try something different. yes

Click on your Volumetric clouds to bring up the Shading tab. Next drag a white shader onto the shading tab sphere.

I used this girl, these hats and this mask for my composition.

The blouse and the necklace are modeled by myself.

Rendered with Carrara Octane plugin, no postwork.
