    If you mean  a file that is attached to a post then No there are some other formats that can be used for document files ( subject to what is permissable to be distributed of course)

    They are not on the list of permitted formats for attacments.  Even animated gifs, although they can be uploaded, don't animate, not as an attachment.

     

    If used with the image command in the wysywig tools, then it has to be an image file format, as in the animated gifs.
