....ooooh, page 99, only one page of stupidity to go.

Oh, that's why the activity has increased...

Well, perhaps in this particular instance, but I'm pretty sure stupidity was only increasing exponentially these recent years.

It used to be that most people who had dumb thoughts used to keep it to themselves... if they thought that NASA was secretly run by Sasquatches or Lincoln was actually assassinated by leprechauns, that was something they'd only say if they got drunk... Now though... nope, it's literally a "hold my beer" moment, every moment... What used to be confined to the ridiculous headlines of campish tabloid newspapers festooned with headlines declaring "Batboy Lives!" and "Elvis Is Alive On Mars!", that'd be begging for our attention as we waited on line at the grocery checkout, is now a genre of acceptable thinking.

Twenty years ago if I got in front of an audience that hadn't specifically assembled to hear me ramble on about my most recent hallucinations involving an upcoming war with merpeople, I'd probably not have made it very far into my reasons why we have to prepare to fight said merpeople and other water based creatures before someone wearing a white suit threw a friggin net over me... but now folks who don't understand that Aquaman and Wakanda Forever were just movies are actually invited and respected guest speakers at what used to relatively normal events.

Rome metaphorically had its lead pipes, I suppose we had cable TV and it's legitimatization of stupid conspiracies... I know most people blame social media, but cable TV was hammering away at reason, skeptical thinking, decency and civility way before social media took hold... normalizing bad behavior and crazy thoughts was the gateway to the flood controls that social media exploitationists threw open and tossed away the handle to.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I kinda feel that the point where the History Channel became the Bigfoot Channel was more significant than just going from programming that explored the events of a barely known ambush of Roman forces by the Gauls or the restoration of a sunken Viking ship, to shows that boldly and confidently suggest aliens built the pyramids and that Hitler was developing technology from alien spacecraft, as a normal rational replacement for actual historical knowledge... that and the trashy reality shows where bad behavior is rewarded and celebrated, set the stage for all this epic stupidity.

But I suppose none of that is why the activity on this thread has increased.

    Probably not.

Well it is my understanding that the only thing you get for making the final post is that you get to choose the name of the new thread that replaces it. But this particular thread seems to retain the same name every time. So what do you even win?

Apparently looking at the content library and thinking of what figure to load into a scene isn't enough to load the figure in the scene.  I also forgot what the difference between 8 and 8.1 is.

What would Jaderail name this Jaderail thread if Jaderail could name this Jaderail thread?

  • NylonGirlNylonGirl Posts: 1,833

Probably something that doesn't have Jaderail in the name.

it would like all its predecessors have stupid in it though

this was its slowest iteration sadly

when he was alive almost 7 years ago they reached 100 pages fast

I would actually prefer to lay him to rest myself as far as the title goes and simply call it the stupid thread

Put a bunch of work into that scene that will largely be invisible, but I also tweaked the render settings so that it hopefully looks better. It's definitely rendering faster, averaging about 12 minutes per frame vs. the 40-something I was getting the last time.

Why not call it "The Stupid Complaint Thread" or "The Benignly Stupid Complaint Thread" or "The Entertainingly Stupid Complaint Thread--reborn"  and absorb that other "complaint" thread (also dying).enlightened  It seems as if there are not enough people as willing to complain or be stupid as much as they used to .  Have all the benignly frustrated, or silly people, migrated away?  Or did they think they grew up?  Where will the next unimportant life issue or Monty Python skit show up?indecision

I want to go back to sleep.  But I also want to stop procrastinating on difficult projects.  Well they aren't difficult but my brain tells me that!

It's called mental inertia.  You need to get out of the bed with roller skates on so that you start as soon as your feet hit the floor.yes  Best have your bed at the bottom of the stairs.enlightened

And how your bed ended up with roller skates on, I'll never know.  But keep it away from the top of the stairs.indecision

fortunately I live in the basement!

I thought I heard sirens from an emergency vehicle or a police car.  It didn't last long, though!

I'm not surprised.  We have vast bandwidth dedicated to demonstrations of stupidity.   We celebrate it, forgetting that it will consume us.  Nature used to have a way of dealing with stupidity, but we've managed to negate that.sad

I'm going to do that today. Believe it or not, I will be helping my mom harvest greens. The goal is to get them before a deer or rabbit does. Along with sowing, I will very likely be sawing for the first time today.
