I got Misty and Oscar catnip.  They are like feline when it comes to catnip.  They really enjoy it to point of destroy cat scratching pads if too much is put on it.

    Is it almost Christmas time?

...the event of Jesus' birth is now reasoned to have occurred sometime in late August to mid September, so still about 9 - 10 months away.

Shepherds would not have been tending to the flocks outdoors in Judea in December. That occurred between spring and fall.

Wait!  Does that mean I have to wait 9-10 months to open my Christmas stocking?

I am told not to open a calendar shaped present until Christmas but I want to open it today.

Without reading the label I opened this up and thought something akin to this smells like vanilla.

I probably should not keep it on the keyboard.

I wonder which calendar they used to figure that out. The old Julian Calendar started it's year in March (nine months before Christmas) and ended its year in February. ;)

It has been known for a good many years that the December date was probably inaccurate, because Jesus' parents were travelling to Bethlehem for a Roman Census,  and those were not held in December. Equally there would not have been sheherds in the fields watching over their sheep in December.

History convincingly shows that December 25 was popularized as the date for Christmas, not because Christ was born on that day but because it was already popular in pagan religious celebrations as the birthday of the sun.

...part is based on when John the Baptist was born (about 6 months before Jesus which is now extimated to have occurred in spring).  Another criteria was when the Romans held their census which then would have fallen sometime in late summer ealy fall.

Just got thru a long call from another dying friend. Someone once said when you hit past mid-life everyone around you dies. Beginning to change my beliefs on that one. Anyhow ... I lived the majority of my life in Canada spelling like Australians do. In Canada, other than caucasian, we have two other significant cultures, Asians and French Canadians but my mother named me Juanita!???!. When I moved to California, from Canada, the significant culture was hispanic. My first job was with a fortune 500 advertising/multi-media company. My first client expected me to speak spanish, I looked up his account by his phone number and blinked twice, kicked a weird feeling to the curb, and said "My apologies Jesus, but I only speak english and french." I had no clue his name was pronounced as "hay-soos".  Everyone thought it was funny and split their sides laughing. I was ignorant. Today all of us are ignorant because none of us know for a fact what took place when or where. Everyone except Flavious. Even the scholars can't agree and there is much controversy but Flavious, historian, born 37 CE, wrote clearly of historical events. Agustus ordered census every 14 years but it appears the first census was after 6 AD and Agustus demanded men (not women like Mary) register in the town of their principal residence, which is why multiple scholars belive they weren't going to Jerusalem for that reason, but to to present their child to the Lord as often most Jewish people did with their firstborn.  Scholars dispute whether the birth was 1BC or 4 BC but agree it was somewhere in that timezone. Supposedly Herod died shortly after after or during an eclipse. There were two eclipses near that time frame. One in 4BC March, a minor partial eclipse only visable at night and another major one at 1BC Dec 29th, more likely to have been noticed or seen. In 2015  I wrote a paranormal novel inspired by this argument  and am currently writing a historical novel on this exact topic. So if you have any enlightment for me I am all for soaking it up.

Edit : Error in type. Also they can't agree if born in 4 BC 3 BC 2 BC or  BC nevermind the month.

I forgot the URL for Chrome or Firefox.  I do not feel like using Bing to search for it to tell me that Edge is better or something like that.

I guess rendering an HD character on battery power was stupid.   Also using one of Josh's G3M characters does not make a great Santa.

I find it annoying when some sites use file names that are stupid, AKA has nothing to do with what I am downloading.  okay file 124693578 failed but how would I know if that is the turkey or the wine glass?  Also did I already download succesfully either one?

What else do I need to make cake other than a cake tin and flour?

  • kyoto kidkyoto kid Posts: 41,070

...sugar, butter, eggs, milk, baking powder, vanilla (and cocoa depending on what type of cake).

Here's a guide to baking a cake from scratch without using a premade cake mix..

My mother used to do that.  I used to help her make them and used to have her recipe but lost it. sad  However, I can still boil an egg, toast bread, make soup from a can, make a potato casserole using canned mushroom soup, make salmon patties, fry a hamburger, and make a cake from a box.  Not marketable skills, but I can also make prize winning, killer chocolate chip oatmeal cookies from scratch! yes  So my mother's teachings aren't totally lost.

Football will be a team sport with a ball and all the players must have feet.
