@3drendero  Thank you for posting all those links. Unfortunately almost all of the links on those pages are broken.

Except the ones on this page:

Another tutorial page link (broken dl): https://web.archive.org/web/20120501132511/http://www.inagoni.com/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.9

Several tutorials and documentions are still accessible.

Found this link where all tutorials worked except one, still just text: https://web.archive.org/web/20090205135621/http://inagoni.com/content.php?content.9

Just to put it out there, there are at least a couple tutorials that Julien wrote in 3DXtract e-zine

I know I saw at least one more, but the Sept/Oct 2005 issue has "The Flame" for Primivol

I see that Carrara 8.5 Pro is in the "Historical Top Sellers" club.

  • RuudLRuudL Posts: 190

I'v finished testing, they all passed. The plugins are now available for download on my SourceForge page ( https://sourceforge.net/projects/carrara-plug-ins-adventures/files/ )

I also placed a zipfile ( 'Inagoni-Tutorials-Presets' ) on SF. It contains several tutorials, objects and shaders that i downloaded years ago from the Inagoni website.

Bad and good news for windows user:
    - the bad:  For now only macOS versions are available.
    - the good: Yesterday I got my new Windows laptop.

So in the foreseeable future I'll probably be able to build the windows versions myself.

Interesting. And an interesting SF page!

I just grabbed the tutorials/presets file and it looks like that works for either OS.

Looks like you've furthered Fractal Dimensia's PySwarm? PyCarrara too?

No Storyboard... that removes the Storyboard room?

    Texture Maps Shader Generator? What?!!!

    Glad you got a PC!

Looks like Philemo offered to help make the PC version of your new Remove Masters.

Also RuudL, would you mind if I added you and a link to your page in my Carrara Plugins Index?

I did resolve a few minor bugs in PySwarm and I added several new functions to PyCarrara. But I'v put it on hold since Philemo announced PyCarrara V2.

No Storyboard... that removes the Storyboard room?

Yep. The Storyboard room gets replaced during startup by this little dummy module. It has the exact same IDs as can been seen on the Plugin-IDs-Database website.

    Texture Maps Shader Generator? What?!!!

This is stand-alone Python app to bring in texture maps on macOS, since the OpenFileDialog is broken from Catalina and above.

    Glad you got a PC!

This site seems to work now: https://web.archive.org/web/20180704011915/http://www.inagoni.com/

Not everything was captured, here is the docs/tuts page from 2018: https://web.archive.org/web/20180129013422/http://www.inagoni.com/?page_id=519

Maybe someone kept an offline backup of them?

I may have some useful elements of the original site. Is there a place we can re-build it and post it? Ideas/options welcome - here or in a PM.

I could see building a standalone directory tree for distribution in a zipfile, or putting it somewhere like Carrara Cafe, or ...

    cheers,

I'd be happy to dedicate pages for that at Dartanbeck.com as well, if you'd like.

Feel free to PM me any time

I'll plan on poking around at what I had grabbed way back when - but likely to be after the new year - 'tis the season and all.

the more places to put it all, the better.

    best,

And I also would be happy to put the zipfile on my SourceForge page for distribution.

Maybe (re)build the site and distribute it in a zipfile. So it can be accessed offline instead of hosting it.

Yesterday I succeeded in building the Windows versions of the Inagoni Plug-ins. Today I'v tested them and they all passed the tests. With the exception of the ArchiTools rendernode because I don't have a compatible computer configuration to test it with. But I'm pretty sure it will do just fine.

They are available for download on my SourceForge page ( https://sourceforge.net/projects/carrara-plug-ins-adventures/files/ )

    Enjoy!

Thanks RuudL!!!  You have gone above and beyond.

I have never used an Inagoni plugin.  Perhaps now I will.  However, Carrara is already very deep all by itself.  When you add the dizzying amount of free plugins, I'm wondering if I will ever find time to explore all the various features. :)  Still, a good problem to have.

BTW - I have only a 24" monitor, and the Sourceforge page loads fine for me.

You're most welcome!  And I hope to go even a little bit further.

I use Firefox on both Mac and PC

BTW  My SF project page ( the Files tab ) is currently unavailable for download due to maintenance by SF.  Sorry for that. Please, try later.

    Edit: Maintenance has finished.

    Thanks for doing that!

Can you describe the environment and tools that are needed to reproduce what you have done here? Perhaps a description of the toolchain exists, but if not, having a quick list of the compiler version and libraries (versions, etc.) one would use to build such plugins might be useful to someone wanting to poke around at it all. I assume this is all based on the Carrara SDK (still at carraracafe.com?).

Thanks in advance for any links/pointers/thoughts,

I was actually already thinking about posting my developer environments on both Windows and macOS. But I wasn't sure anyone would be interested. So I had put it on the back burner. Currently it's just a collection of notes and it will take some time before it's ready to be posted.

I'll post it in the 'Carrara SDK Developer Discussion' forum. To me that's the most logical place to post it.

I wish I had the brains to code

(I struggle setting up dependencies for existing prebuilt stuff like Stable Diffusion AI interfaces built by others) blush

    anyway there is this

    https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/617486/dforce-need-to-be-replaced-with-xpbd-based-simulation-system

maybe someone who can wants it badly enough for Carrara heart

  • RuudLRuudL Posts: 190

Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

I searched the net for XPBD (extended position based dynamics ) and I found this one (  https://interactivecomputergraphics.github.io/physics-simulation/examples/xpbd.html )

You can play with it, e.g. change the number of fixed particles. And you can also reposition the fixed particle by dragging it.

    Have fun.

no rush on this... that said, *any* knowledge we can record on such tools might help those with familiarity and interest in coding to put together a local workspace where they/we can play/fix/tweak existing plugins and perhaps grow some new ones. Many of us know the nouns and verbs of coding in a specific environment, but few likely know the secret sauce to coding for Carrara (which compilers, library versions, carrara-specific plugin conventions), and having such notes as you mention might really accelerate the immersion process - rather than the now-unlikely "RTFM from scratch" approach.

Most of our collective progress relies on the "shoulders of giants" and the willingness of those generous giants who would give us that leg up.

I'm certain anything you would cobble together would be greatly appreciated by current and future Carrara-ists - even if basic in form!

    best wishes and TIA,
