That's consistent with what you said earlier, which is good (no other files in that cluster missing),
If you rename the DIM log files (to rid it of all the old log stuff), and then install those, what can you find in both those logs about that file / product?
    Found in ~/Library/Application\ Support/DAZ\ 3D/InstallManager
    log.txt and Hlog.txt

One thing you might wanna test:

Open the file ' /Volumes/DAZ3D Library/My DAZ 3D Library/InstallManagerFileRegister.json' in BBEdit, Sublime Text, VSCode,  Atom or similar "non destructive" text editor. A lot of text editor including TextEdit.app has a tendency to replace " quotes with 'typographic quotes', which will rin any json file. I think there is a setti g to stop that, but open the file, select all, copy, and go to 'https://jsonlint.com/'  and paste it in and click validate JSON.

If the JSON has been corrupted, it the file wont open and you might end up in the catch-22 you're in.

Also, does this file exist ?

if you rename the file InstallManagerFileRegister.json -> InstallManagerFileRegister.jsonx and then start DIM (to make it think the file is not there)

One thing though, have you allowed DIM in Security & Privacy (You probably have, but always good to check).

System Settings -> Integrity & Privacy -> Files and Folders -> DIM needs "Full disk access"

Yes DIM does have Full Disk Access.

And here is what the Hlog file says after renaming the json file

  • Although it is annoying, and might be a symptom of an issue that could grow, the errors are not critical - the missing file is the emtadata for the product, needed only if you want to rset the database and reimport, while the json file is DIM's list of files that were isntalled by something else and were also in a product it isntalled (so it doesn't remove an apaprent shared file if it unisntalls the product) - neither affects use of the product itself.

Thank for trying to help,  Its much appreciated.  For now I will try it ignore it unless it starts to grow into a more serious problem.

I started having problems with DIM when downloading new purchases onto a third computer, they would download, but fail to install. I tried manual download, it failed. I switched to my project of installing old content from an external harddrive where DIM files for another computer were stored and moving them to the new computer and tested one and it worked, but a group of 88 files just failed to install now.

Is something going on with DIM?

In between all these attempts I have closed down my Win 11 laptop multiple times and loaded fresh loads of DIM. All programs are as up to date as possible. Everything worked fine yesterday and my downloads on my MacBookPro M1 and then on the Win 10 desktop worked okay earlier today.

Maybe you have an AV interfering with the installation process?

Try installing a product, and when it fails, click on the gear icon top right and click on the 2 log options. See if it states anything about the fails.

This is what happens with two different files: one Garden Gala from the disk drive and the other Parkside Freight 2017 from a DIM download now. Both failed.

  • There is a line there

    Could not create folder: D:/Users/Public/Documents/My DAZ 3D Content/ ....

Are you installing it to a mapped path?

  • memcneil70memcneil70 Posts: 4,201

Yes, I even opened all the file paths up to double-check. When I first set up DAZ, Win 11 tried to shift the files into the cloud and I caught it on the first test and corrected it. I have 10832 products so far installed okay. I just have 11592 left to review and install. Not everything is being installed.

I also have existing data files for both those PAs already set up at this time. So not sure why the program couldn't open them.

  • Do you have sufficient available drive space?

See if you can manually extract one of the zips which fail to install to a different folder (so it doesn't get mixed up with the installed files).

Bingo! I maxed out the D: drive!!!!

Wow, I guess I may need to run to MicroCenter and get me an 8TB external.

Thanks Doctor Jellybean, I finally found the properties popup and the size function in Win11. I had been looking for it for weeks.

    Color me embarrased, Mary

  • No problem, glad you know what the problem is.

Well, I lucked into a sale so I bought a 14Tb WD Elements External Hard drive. After looking at the 8Tb hard drive for my MacBookPro, it only has 1.?? Tb left on it. So I think I will be growing my file storage next year. Especially if we keep getting 1 - 3 Gb files now.

    1) Why do I suddenly have over 60 product updates in DIM Ready to Download? This happened once before. I looked at the readme page for the first 10 in the list. None of them had any recent entries about changes. None of them show recent dates in the DIM Ready to Download dislay. Is this some kind of DIM error?

    2) Why does the DIM log show this every 5 minutes? Is this related to the advertisement bar at the top of the display now?

I am not seeing those, and I have at least a couple of the products shown. If you refresh are they still there?

Yes, see http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/install_manager/change_log_1_4_1_69#1_4_1_52 (which says it is a private Beta, though it is in fact the changes leading up to the current General Releas).

Check for in-app notification updates following successful keep-alive negotiation

Thank you, Richard. I refreshed DIM and those listed updates were gone.
