@Barbult --- these are so so good. Thanks for much inspiration.
A question, where did you get dust effect, especially on the 4 wheel image?

Hey all. I'm attempting to use UltraScenery 2 for the first time. It shows loaded properly in plugins, it's up to date, but every time I launch it, none of the lettering is visible on the UI (as shown in screenshot). Anyone know where I can start to try and figure this out?

That is Sandstorm Cloud E from VDB Electrical Sandstorm, scaled way way down and density of the Volume reduced a huge amount.

Several of us have encountered that problem on the first install. Try reinstalling it. I hope you are using DIM. UltraScenery products do not work when installed from inside Daz Studio.

Aye, I use DIM to install practically everything. I'll re-install and give it a try, thanks! :)

EDIT: HAHA! Problem resolved! Many thanks! :D

The new Daz Studio Beta version 4.22.1.228.

Have to confirm with the other scenes, but UltraScenery 2 rendering the scene below took 41 minutes 30 seconds.

The first rendering iteration appeared right after 27 minutes of rendering - unusally long time on my computer for such scenes.

Have also used Mask Builder II and have not succeded creating proper masks for round bases.

That's really strange looking. 4.22.1.228 and Mask Builder II and UltraScenery2 seem to be working normally for me.I haven't noticed a render slowdown either. Are you using an UltraScenery2 ecology or Classic Content? I wonder if that matters. I tried USC2 Oaks 08 and USC2 River 04. I didn't try Classic Content.

  • ArtiniArtini Posts: 9,455

Yes, the above scene was made with both UltraScenery 2 ecology and Classic Content,

like in the manual to Mask Builder II.

It looks like my computer does not like such combination.

I worked with USC2 after installing 4.22.1.228 and noticed faster speed on rendering with my Win 11. I have been on an older computer, Win 10, this morning and working for the first time with Alienator Pro II and it's very quick. I hand it to Totte for excellent instructions again.

Came by to let anyone who hasn't picked up USC2 yet that it is on sale today for 69% $64.99 $20.47 and if you have tokens or the 30% off it may be less than that. I would check out any of the biomes or add-ons you maybe missing for both USC1 and USC2.

I have created another scene from scratch using one of the masks previusly created with Mask Builder II

and the rendering time was 17 minutes 19 seconds.

I also got flat areas, where I liked them to be.

Is that still Classic Content or not?

There is no Classic Content there.

Another experiment with UltraScenery 2 and Hedge Maker for placing the tents.

After added LoREZ Gazelle rendering dropped to CPU, so I have aborted rendering after 137 iterations.

That took  15 minutes 13 seconds.

Without Gazelle rendering on GPU took 8 minutes 41 seconds (723 iterations on GPU + 70 iterations on CPU)

Have to optimize the scene, but the render still looks not so bad to me.

I have optimized the scene - reduced some cloth maps on Barnabus by 4 times - using:

    https://www.daz3d.com/scene-optimizer

and the scene fits nicely in GPU memory.

    Rendering took 8 minutes 24 seconds (729 + 64 iterations).

The plants placement look a bit different from the previous render

despite I have not changed anything in the scene besides the clothes maps.

Plants move when I don't change anything, too, sometimes. I don't know why. They are not supposed to.

Is a random seed value being used somewhere? The same params with a different seed would typically produce similar, but not identical results (in general).

I don't know. There are seed values in the interface to be controlled by the user, but I don't know if there are others used internally.

Has anyone tried UltraScenery2 in DAZ Studio 4.23?  I installed and it is not showing up so am in the process of uninstalled US and reinstalling.  Just curious if 4.23 resolves the CRAZY SLOW Ultrascenery (?Iray?) issue?  Guess I'm about to find out, just curious if anyone has tried it yet?

Edit: Hmmm... I can find the installed folders for US 2, but not the pane to run it. I am currently testing a render in US 1.

Edit Edit: OH YEAH!  THE SPEED IS BACK!

It is working fine for me in 4.23.0.1 Beta, and always has in all the recent 4.22. Betas. Have you had speed problems in 4.22 Betas? I've only heard of people running General Release having speed problems.

OK - rebooted DAZ and US 2 tab is there again. Yeah, I could run US just fine in the Betas but had already begun rebuilding an EXTENSIVE Bookmarks setup after losing the bookmarks once before (ran through the forums, tried a GAZILLION things to get the old one back - no luck, way too much time wasted on it). I wasn't finished but couldn't get the Bookmarks to show up in the Beta for anything since I started rebuilding in General Release (for whatever reason). So I am running the 4.23 GR - and after rebooting US2 is there, but my Bookmarks are missing now. <SIGH> I'll try running 4.23 Beta after this scene finishes and see what I get.   I'm too exhausted by it to think rationally right now.  But hey, at least my US scenes are rendering WICKED FAST again now, so there's that.

Do you save a Workspace when your bookmarks are working? If so, reloading that Workspace should bring them back, unless all your custom actions actually got deleted, too. There is also a Daz Sample script to copy the UI settings from one release channel to the other. You shouldn't have to setup menus and toolbars over again manually.

THANKS! I'll certainly have to look into that! Man, I'd love to have my original set up back, but that isn't going to happen as I built a new computer and some paths changed. I'll get sorted out - just not tonight. :)

I thought that daz v4.23 would solve my US2 crash issue but it did not. I uninstalled and reinstalled all the ultrascenery stuff but the crashes still happens.

With all the new premiere craziness, with its need to hook up to internet once in awhile, etc, I'm hesitant to move to 4.23. I've not signed on to DAZ through DS in a very long time and don;t desire for that move to hose up what is now working. It seems every "upgrade" messes up something.

Getting the speed of rendering back would be wonderful though.

Using DS 4.23.x.x does not force you to log-in any more than previous versions have, if you don't have a Premier membership (or don't want the tools/content).

Thanks Richard. Great to hear. I'm rendering USC2 at more than an hour with a 4080GPU, and other scenes take uite awhile as well. It all slowed down after somewhere in the 4.22 cycle.

This scene could not fit in GPU memory, so only CPU rendering.

Rendering Time: 1 hours 3 minutes 10 seconds

Probably the reason for that is this high resolution Pudgy the Corgi.

Gogger asked "Does anyone else use UltraScenery in unconventional ways?". I looked through my vast bunch of UltraScenery renders for things that struck my as something other than "normal" "plain" UltraScenery renders. This is what I picked out.

    Add Weather or Atmosphere

    Use Other Water (OceanWorks here)

    Use AlienatorPro and Alien Plants

    Render Proxies Instead of Trees

Create Your Own Features and Ecologies

    Add Dust and Dirt

Use Masks and Decals (the muddy foreground here)

Render From Unusual Cameras (Small World)

Render From Less Common Locations (interior looking out or underwater)

    Change Foliage Colors

    Try Negative Altitude

Use Layer Masks to Create Sections of Flowers

Combine wtih USXT for Expansive Scene with Expansive Water

Create an UltraScenery Hill and Embed Architecture In It,

these are amazing make great product promos
