Pretty much anything to do with GIMP plz if you have the time to show me Sven Dullah

    blush

As I said, can't compete with the pros regarding post processing, but can show you a couple of tricks I like to use;)

Took myself the liberty of importing one of your renders into GIMP, great render btw, hope you don't mind?

After import, first thing I did was go to the layers tab, right click on the layer and duplicate it. Then went to colors in the menu bar, and chose desaturate to make it black&white. There are 3 options, I chose the middle one. Increased contrast a bit. Next, went to filters/blur/gaussian blur and set the amount to around 25. So now I had the bottom layer untouched and the duplicated layer in b&w and blurred. Next I chose filters/artistic/softglow and set glow radius to 18, brightness to 0.62, sharpness 0.76 and applied the softglow to the duplicated layer. In the layer tab I set layer mode to hard light, opacity to 76. Exported under a new name.

    Original:

    Gimped version:

    image

This was just a quick one, hope you get the picture;) Try this technique using 1 or more duplicates, various layermodes and amounts of opacity and various filters. Sometimes (mostly by accident) great things can happensmiley

Oh and a tip: Render you images as png or tiff, jpegs will not have the same quality, there is always some compression/loss in quality.

Another version where I just toned down the duplicate layer some more (opacity 50):

Well, I learned something new thank you for sharing this!

Yeah I learn a lot with this one as well I am also going to youtube to learn more about gimp but it is mostly about taking real life photos and redoing them.

Myself I want to learn how to do all those special tricks to make my renders like yours @iceDragonArt within GIMP.

I think a lot of what I do you can do in Gimp. I think the hard part is figureing out what part of Gimp matches the part in Photoshop, because they aren't always called the same thing!

I put it off for years.  The only reason I pay for the subscription now is because I use it every single day.  Otherwise, I would have just stuck to something free.

I know, you are much too nice to say anything mean!  If it wasn't a necessity, I couldn't afford it either.  ( I know that sounds weird but its legitimately a work expense for me, which is separate from my personal expenses. )

I wish I had a work expence :D this is just a hobby for me right now until I get good enough to start using my modeling programs the way I want to, so I can become a PA as well.

As it stands right now I am not even sure what I would like to start creating right yet ex: Clothing, Houses, Hair, Props Jewelery, my own characters,etc....

Like one of the PAs said a while ago there just is not enough time in a day to do everything I want to.

Impossible to get caught up on your thread.  I mean that in the very best way.  You are so productive!.  I know its a few pages ago, but I absolutely loved the teddy bear.  Thanks to Sven Dullah for the GIMP example.  Can't wait to see what you decide to model.

I would like to think he was saved by the Great White as well but alas he was not he was blown away by the storm to god knows where!!!

That story and render was inspired by a T.V show called "Fantasy Island"

I was trying to find the double sided Canues they have in that show but the only thing I could find was that canue I used.
