Here is a piece of advice that everyone should follow with the utmost adherence. It's essential to be respectful to your barber or hairdresser. A single misstep can lead to a regrettable haircut.

Me two, and if it wasn't necessary for my mom to be able to call me, I wouldn't even have one to talk with - If someone needs to reach me, they can send smoke signals cheeky

I'm a fan of carrier pigeons, if it's bad news you can always eat the messenger, not recommended if you still have a proper postman-person, of course the British slang 'Postie' is non-gender specific but not sure how many of you understand British, but there's one to add to the dictionary.

Non-complaint:  I'm wearing short pants & T-shirt for the first time in 2024.yes  Flip-flops will have to wait till the mud dries up.frown

Complaint:  Bums at the laundromat.no  What do you do when weird, gruffy, mentally-off people descend on you and start spouting their brainworms while you're just trying to listen to music with earbuds in, while your clothes dry?  The guy today was a pain in the neck from the moment he walked in and started trying to save my soul, amongst all the other non-sequitur noise flowing from his mouth.   My first mistake was glancing his direction and acknowleging his presence.   It was all downhill after that.  I'm half afraid that if I provoke them, they'll get violent.  Thirty years ago I could've handled anyone except a professional wrestler or giant, or a gun, but these days, I'd have a heart attack if I exerted myself in any way.   Go away boy, y'bother me.angry

I think it is getting late.  It is 21:30 or something like that here.  Probably should get off the computer and turn off the lights.

  • richardandtracyrichardandtracy Posts: 5,662
It's always within 30 minutes of 21:30 somewhere on the globe. The way it jumps around the time zones makes it hard to keep track of exactly where it's happening.

...complaint less than one day notice for eminence which will be entering everyone's apartment.   They claim it is for testing the fire alarms but that is a building wide system, and on previous such tests they didn't need to enter any apartments. It isn't the Fire Department either, as their annual certification inspection of the alarm and suppression systems (which includes cheeking the sprinkler heads in each apartment) is always in June.  For that one we only got a two day notice last summer.

The previous management company always gave us a minimum of 5 (business) days and sometimes up to two weeks.

This new company has been the absolute pits. I've already submitted one notice to the local BBB last year (for all the good that will do). They give this company an "F" rating . I'd give more detail but it's late I'm tired, a bit irritated, and I have to be up early before they start their rounds.

A new flight path for the balloon has been determined. Adjustments will likely be necessary shortly before launch.

In Baltimore, a bridge had colasped at night.  I don't think anyone was hurt because of the time of night?  If it was early morning during rush hour, the story might be different.

You might want to read the news reports thoughly, there's been a lot about the accident in the last couple of days even here in the UK.

Was an expensive day today... Took a day off work as mom had her cataract surgery scheduled for 8AM today in a hospital 40 miles from us.
After I got her there, I headed to my favorite computer shop - Opening at 10AM... Had some coffee and slept a while at the parking place until 10AM.

Took me a whole 15 minutes to spend $530 (VAT included) on Asus RTX 3060 12GB and 64GB's of RAM blush
But, now I have all the (brand new) components for my new I9+X299 rig.

Four individuals were reported missing; two bodies have been recovered, and two survivors have been found. It could have been worse if the ship hadn't called ahead.

From an engineering perspective I am really bothered by the progressive collapse shown. If you take out one pier, the collapse shouldn't be more than 2 sections of deck. On such a huge span it'd be optimistic to expect the deck to stay up with one pier missing, but the designer should do some major soul searching having three spans come down. I will avidly read any report on both sides of the failure and try to learn all I can from this so I don't unknowingly put other lives at risk.

...update:  Stayed inside all day (not hard to do given the weather was atrocious today) but no knock on the door and the building alarm didn't sound off even once.  .The notice mentions they would be finished today by 17:00 so not sure what is going on.

Already tired of this flaky, management company and it's been barely a year since they took over.

The bridge was over 50 years old, so it's quite possible that its designer is long dead.

They also never envisioned cargo ships being the size they are today 50 years ago. There are definitely things they should have done to maintain this bridge through the years, but improving infrastructure like this is something that needs funding. I'm sure this will be a wake-up call for similar bridges around the world since there is a way to prevent this type of accident.

Having worked in Engineering there are also people who put budget ahead of good design practice. No longer work in that field thank god !

Hmm. I'm in a position where our main customers check everything down to the tiniest screw, and the smallest shortcut is rejected. Everything is done right to specification, but there are always things outside the specification you need to think of, and that's where you can get caught out big time.

    A Cheesy Complaint:  https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/camembert-brie-disappear-scientists-france-warn-rcna143862

Oh, no!  Say it ain't so.  I don't give a rat's axe for Brie(i.e. jellied snot)cheeky or Camembertno, but don't take my Bleu toosurprisebroken heart

I've grown up with blue cheeses, my great grandfather taught my grandfather who taught my father who taught me how to love bleu cheese.  Mmmm..., salty, sharp, aromatic.  On steak, in burgers, on crackers, in sandwiches, on baked potatoes, sprinkled on salads, heart   Mmm... Danish Blue, Dragon's Breath Blue, Roquefort, Stilton, Gorganzola, Wensleydale.yes

In my area there is a little, private, stand-alone, cheese shop on a farm, next to the lake, where the lady opens her shop during the summer and has many fine cheeses not found in plebian grocery stores. However, the COVID years made it hard for her to get some of the foreign ones.  I'm only able to get to the shop about once a year and I look forward to getting a good solid chunk of a fine blue cheese or two.  But the last two years were much like the experience below.frown  Year three and I'm still hankerin' for a good blue cut from the wheel, just for me.cool  Maybe I'll have better luck this year.indecision

Every time I hear of somebody in this forum having trouble with a creepy neighbor or some overly imposing vagrant, I wish they could just summon me like they do in the role playing games. Like, they just play the right tune on a pan flute and I appear in a puff of smoke and show the troublemakers a proper crazy woman. And when it's over, the ones who still have faces will tell the police "she ate all the good fruit too. All that's left are the low hanging ones and they've been picked at".

  • kyoto kidkyoto kid Posts: 41,036

...given how frequently I see shady people hanging outside my building's front door waiting to "shadow" tenants in, you may get a call now and then.

I found this on facebook but I was wondering if it is a 3D render?  Also is that turtle in the DAZ marketplace or something?

That environment seems very small for such a large animal.

  • NylonGirlNylonGirl Posts: 1,807

That turtle is very likely what picked at the low hanging fruit.
