Hi everyone. I am super new to DAZ but was really inspired by the mythical challenge for the month since I love mermaids, centaurs, unicorns, etc. I love mermaids the most so decided to have one of my first renders be of an underwater scene. Easier said than done (for me cheeky) but here you go! I hope you all like it. I would love feedback from you all who have been doing this for a while. DAZ is new to me but creating virtual photography and other art isnt so any help to improve will be amazing. Im not sure how you all added your pictures so big to the posts so I have as an attachment. <.<

    Undersea Bounty

Welcome to the thread and what a lovelly image to start with :) Hopefully you'll stick around and join in with the remaining month's topics too (if they tickle your creativity).

I'm not sure I qualify to provide any artistic feedback since I have only been using Daz for about two years - so still only a baby in terms of the userbase. I can help with the image embedding thing tho.

    1. The first step is to do everything you already did (so step one is complete)
    2. Then, after the post has been made, you need to grab the link to the image. This is depending on your browser, on Firefox you can right-click and select "Copy Link". NOTE: Don't use "Copy link to Image" since that is only the thumbnail. Basically, for the above image you want to get: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/uploads/FileUpload/a8/08ec6803d0b11276b49c6cf3f47b41.jpg
    3. Hover over your post and you'll spot a little cog icon appear in the top-right, click on it and select "Edit"
    4. Click into your message to place the cursor at the place where you want the large version of your image to be displayed
    5. Click the "Image" button in the top toolbar (the one with a mountain and a little sun)
    6. In the window that pops up, paste the link to your image into the URL field. When you click out of that field it should update the preview with a corner of your image and insert the width and height in the so-named fields.
    7. In the Width box change this to 800 (this is the max size the forum allows without auto-scaling). The height should change automatically to maintain the correct aspect ratio.
    8. Click OK in the image popup
    9. Your post should now show the embedded image as desired.
    10. Click the button to post the updated comment.

Note: do not delete/remove the attachment since this will actually delete your image and so the embedded link will point to nothing. The posts where you see an embedded image and no attachment are because the URL used in the above steps was from a gallery (or other non-forum) location.

Thank you so much! That is not as intuitive of a process as I would have thought. It has been a long time since I actually have posted on a message board so I really feel like a noob here. I will fix my post now. smiley

The only invertebrates I could think of offhand were insects XD So I used my favorite insect, which I suppose is also my favorite invertebrate?

    Where the Crystals Grow

Just a pretty experiment with reflections and glowy stuff ^_^ There’s hardly any postwork, just some color correction and my watermark is all. So all the reflections and lights come straight from the render. I thought that was pretty cool!

    Rendered in Daz Studio Iray.

    Postwork in Pixelmator Pro.

Those are some lovelly and very colourfull images :) I still have not come up with a good idea for anything but I guess I still have a few days to squeeze something in. Maybe I'll try throwing a few random assets on the page and see if anything crawls out!

Not sure I want to visit it. Sure it's pretty, but the inhabitants may want to snack on humans blush

Your own render is nice too, with a very nice underwater DoF effect smiley

Funnily enough, I followed a similar train of thought, but ended with a different result, because in a way, I went the opposite way with going back to when Victoria was younger.

I started working on it two weeks ago but couldn't advance as much as I wanted and Initially, I only had the ladybugs, but took advantages of the recent wishlist sale to get the whole bundle. Thankfully, I found time to finish what I started yesterday, because it took the whole night to render it surprise.

But I digress as usual, so ‘… Let’s go exploring’

All items from Daz should be linked in the gallery. The two freebies by @AllenArt are here:

@Fae3D > Very nice. With a lot of reflections in the crystal which I suppose meant it was a long render.

Thank you!  Yes, the render took overnight and well into the next day.  And I had to do it twice, because the first time I forgot to make the "ceiling" of the cave visible, so there was a gap in the reflections >_<  I don't have the right graphics card for Iray, so Iray and I have a sort of tense relationship, lol!

I love your pic, I remember doing that all the time as a kid.  I was scared of bugs, but they also fascinated me, so I went out and "studied" them often!  Not far from my house, though, in case one of the bugs wanted to get too close I wanted to be able to retreat XD

THANK YOU ALL for keeping this tread alive!  I didn't have as much time to visit and comment like I wanted to but I did see all the wonderful artworks.

On to November... NOV=MAMMALS ... easy peasy I'm sure :)

I only recently learned that the Spot render tool could render in a new window, so could be use to render only the parts in need of changes. But before that, I re-did almost complete renders a couple of times blush

    Thank you smiley
