It's actually just Micah Hair G2M. But I noticed it had a few morphs to tighten it up (which removed some curves of hair that didn't look quite right to me), and UHT2 improves it a lot (high Cutout, like 2 or 3, along with high tiling of Ash Brown)
evilded:
Sensibility, mostly. I think a lot of artists do these almost oiled characters. I like to make 'natural' characters, people I'd imagine meeting day to day. Along those lines I also tend to avoid skin smoothing and other effects that would mask the fine wrinkles and imperfections. I love the nooks and crannies. ;)
As for the eyes, I don't tend to mess with them too much -- Iray Skin Converter, make sure Corneal bulge is set. I worry more about the iris and sclera looking realistic.
Mind you, another issue is that my lighting is almost always terrible, along with light composition. My characters have a bad tendency to blend into the background. Need to work on that.
Very nice.![yes yes](http://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/thumbs_up.png)
A render! I've been outside recently and been sadly negecting my computering ;) actually its technically a test render, I need to render this bigger and for more than 15 minutes and then re-postwork that.
They say imitation is the highest form of flattery. If someone recognizes what I'm basically copying I'll be pretty excited.
Very postworked if you couldnt tell, Photoshop's Camera Raw tools remain my favorite thing ever.
I'm rather liking Ivan. He certainly has character. I posted this in the Ivan thread, so apologies for the repeat.
Rendered in Octane with some NIK tools postwork.
Lovely, I like the painted look to it. :)
Yeah, his face is definitely full of character. Excellent render!
+1
Please feel free to post images here that you've posted in other threads. The purpose of this thread is to keep images of the guys in one place where interested people can easily find them. So many images get posted to Galleries in a day's time, nothing stays on the first page for long.
I haven't been posting much lately, but I've been enjoying the recent images uploaded to the thread! Everyone does such nice work. I just managed to do my first render of Makani using the Kimo 7 skin. Kimo's skin is really nice to work with and I liked it better than the Makani skin which I think I need to tweak more because I couldn't get it to look decent. The Kimo skin was much easier to work with.
Looks really really good, kudos. I love the lighting on the hair.
Thanks. I kind of like how it turned out. I'm getting better at figuring out how to get my figures to stand out from the background some.
Buffed Leo : )
Butch - I really love that carven look you've gotten to his features there. Also love the black and white effect, too. :)
Knittingmommy - Great renders, both of them. I like the way the light bounces off the back of the curls in the first one.
That adds a lot to both the realism as well as bringing the subject out from the background. Rim lighting and backlighting can both be very effective tools.
Wonderful works, I love the portraits in this thread. Butch, your last one looks so real. Almost like one of those faces from the temple in GOT. You know, one from the many-faced god. :)
Here's a group picture of different Lee's (6 and 7):
Great! Love it!
My first time using the Portrait Studio. This was taking a really long time to render. Not sure if it was the portrait studio or what. It took half an hour to just get to 1%
Leo is my current favorite of the Genesis 3 males... something about those eyes and that chin... tasty.
I passed by M7, but when Leo came out, I just couln't resist. It was the eyes that made the difference for me. The chin's nice, too.

Wow! Is that Ivan's body shape? Not that it matters... Leo looks good buff!
Isn't Leo 7 just a Scott 6 port? I thought the figures were kind of identical
It's Leo's body shape + mixed with morphs from the G3M body morph pack. Unfortunately, don't have Ivan just yet : )
It's cheating, but I find pointing a backlight towards the characters head and shoulders, to work a treat. It doesnt need to be too bright, just enough to give a touch of highlight - similar to, but not as strong as, your Kimos left arm.
Thanks for the nice comments everyone. They're much appreciated![yes yes](http://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/thumbs_up.png)
I don't think it's cheating, it's part of the very important suite of photography techniques we are forced to learn doing this stuff. ;)
I've hit similar issues, and the fact is, there's a reason photographers do so much with various lights and diffusers.
No...facially they might be a little similar, but Scott 6 is much older and much brawnier where Leo is tall and lean.
This is just for side by side comparison; Ivan, Kimo, Gianni and Leo. Hope this is useful.
Ah okay, thanks for the clarification.
I'm very happy with the GenX update for G3.
I have Ivan. And you did a good job of emulating his body shape with the morph pack, (as far as I can tell without the two side-by-side.).
Cool! That's a great render. What skin texture is that?
Well, it's been a while, but I revisited the couple "snogging" pose. I wanted to see if I could do something more modern, and more intimate. I'm pretty happy with the results, though I can't post the nude version here on DAZ. I'm debating on whether or not to post it on Deviant Art, having finally created an account over there...
Here is the "safe" version, with boxers and lingerie, (and sans "anatomical elements.")
Newlyweds ... Alone at last
ETA: Not so safe, it turns out, lol, (though I've seen more provactive stuff on prime-time TV.) Here's a link to the image on DA: http://ladair.deviantart.com/art/Newlyweds-618511844
