That would be way a lot better if we were talking about an original model. That's a Wolfenstein Panzerhund. I don't know the provenance of your model. Did you make it? The markings are spot-on for markings I've seen on the web. It makes me wonder, what is your Orcus, actually? Historically, Orcus is a major demon known widely in D&D lore. That's not what you've got there. Is it an original creation? I guess my inquiring mind would like to know.

According to Google that would be Belloc from Lost Ark.

The models themselves I find fairly uninteresting, the more interesting part would be the import scripts.

This is a fan art model I made about 7 years ago full HD full remake for Poser just like if one is releasing Star treck, Star wars meshes that are also found here, it was a high learning curve time about when I totally adapted and changed my 3D systems. Actually made two of these series, but stopped due the compexity and efforts to get such complex stuff working in Poser. The more difficult the model the better you will learn. Allot of people think " A game Rip " well not. would it be that easy no one would be buying assets anymore. It is about the same like forums see a Trekky mesh and scream Game Rip but actually not. efforts are huge you can compare it with a painter that is trying to make a reproduction of Monalisa. But actually just like trekkies there are fans, that like in the case above would love adding such in there collections for personal usage so in such a case It is not me that would get credit just like with the Trekky fan cult.

Sure funny when that guy is eating the Doll :)

Besides when I saw that desighn, I sure remember , I just thought , I just got to have it in poser, just like many other users that often say , I wish I had it in my DS application.

There is one @ sketchfab looks even better then mine got more details!  you can find quiet a few great remakes of this model arround, sure a bummer quiet some artist just had to bild up that Monster, this is what fans do. So when I see certain of these creations I have to say, I could of done even better :)

You can find stand-alone figures in the Daz store. I bought one yesterday

    @Torquinox
What other Daz store  content have you bought for that standalone figure?

To be honest I am probably more looking at this from a high quality humanoid figure perspective not these bizzarre creature/mechs
    shown in this thread.
if somone from say… Artstation was to create a very high quality FEMALE model that could import into Daz studio via some advanced FBX/conversion system like we have In Reallusion CC4.

She would not be compatible with any Daz store content.

But then he provides support for her in the forms of clothings ,hairs, shapes etc on his Patreon or some other competing offsite commercial location like Renderhub.

You can  see how this might be a “problem”
Not asserting that Daz inc is nerfing the FBX importer but
I certainly understand why they would not make  external character import as advanced as the Reallusion software has become which operates under a completely different business model.

This is for instance a Fan Art model I made in 2017 also an oldie, sure like the style and it took me quiet a while getting it done

so ever since I am working on upgrading the model so to replace the older version, every now and then I open it and work a little on it already since years and still there is quiet a way to go getting it fully done. Many just lay in my runtime and I do not even publish them. The main purpose of doing these is not to bring it all out it is rather having these my self, Poser DS is not having allot such type of releases even that there are allot of creators, now most go in the same direction, leaving the only option to learn and doing it your self. I guess that I am not allone with this .

This is the version I want to end up with, some wings, a mechanical underskin and some other features.

It sure is comming in very handy to be able getting them also into DS as both Poser and Daz studio have there strength. The workflow at the moment is building it up in Blender with compatible articulations for Poser/DS, In Poser comes the fine tuning and adjustments and the finish. DS can't read this Cr2 it will break because it is Poser single skin WM so it gets exported from Poser and CAD converted then reloaded in DS for the final steps. This is the actual state until there is a stable fbx feature in DS. the stepp between Poser and DS is not really a big time consuption considering that they are transported 1:1 the other way would be a little more complicated.

I might consider sending the dll and converting script to a Blender extention creator and see if they can compile it into a PY for blender so that the models can be exported correctly from Blender to DS

That would be really interesting - I'ld more than gladly buy that off the Blender marketplace!

I'm with wolf on having no need for those creatures (don't get me wrong, they look really well-made, I'm just not into that kind of stuff), but to me there's so many other potential uses for a a proper im-/exporter.

@Gordig Between fiverr.com or upwork.com and ChatGPT, this could probably be done. ChatGPT does not understand DS very well, but it'd probably work if you told it certain things like "this is the member function you call to add a face to a mesh..." etc. The Blender side would be much, much easier, and ChatGPT has gotten better at writing Blender Python over the versions. I will never try to get content into DS, but I still find myself wishing someone who is hungry enough would try this :) ChatGPT is amazing.

@Nathrai If you'd pay for it, I wonder if there are enough people where you could pool your money and hire someone off of fiverr? The guy I hired on upwork.com to write a retargetter for Houdini was not super expensive, and he was a fricking genius. Same for a guy from fiverr.com. Think about it... this could be a new development model.

This is very interesting, I have never looked into this, actually just use my cellphone to make calls and sometimes write a message. Do not even carry it with me allot ! I now looked at a Video tutorial about ChatGPT and it  sounds quiet impressive. Since having the right Informations in a other format then PY it might be worth a try translating it into a PY command with ChatGPT, Ok you just threw me onto a new learning curve. Thank you for your help it sure is appriciated :)

Don't use ChatGPT - it takes more time (and a LOT more programming skills) to get rid of the shennanigangs it puts in there than to learn how to script it yourself ... cheeky

As for fiverr, you would have to be lucky to find someone who's into programming, Blender AND rigging technologies. If it was just the scripting, I'ld just do it myself, but I've only started lerning Blender in January and first dipped my toes into DS somewhere around March (before a couple of years of hiatus I was only working with Poser and Carrara). I lack the intimate knowledge of the 3D side of this, and so would anyone on fiverr, I guess.

@wolf359 No, stand-alone monsters don't have (or need) a lot of extra content. HH's Wyvern has a few things. The Lovecraftian Elder thing I bought has no add-ons, could use a few more textures and some poses, IMO. I guess that's for me to do, if I so desire. Previously-mentioned @vyusur had at least one stand-alone human character for sale in the Daz store, and it was not Daz-clothing compatible. I suppose that was a drawback. That is the main drawback for imported Daz-incompatible human characters in DS. To a lot of people, access to the Daz ecosystem is a plus. As for DAZ-incompatible human characters in other stores, that's great! I doubt Daz is deliberately nerfing the fbx importer. I would say, Daz seems more interested in exporting content to other software than importing to DS. I don't have anything useful to say about Reallusion's products. The company has some good ideas. The products look interesting, I have no plans to get started with them. I have more than enough to keep me busy and/or entertained. So, here I am. Re: female models: I personally feel flooded with female models, female stuff. I thought G9 might address that imbalance, and that turned out to be a naive thought.

All that being said, I hope @Summoner does come up with a good, accessible way to bring complex stand-alone figures into DS. That could only be a plus. Since he seems to have a passion for the mission, perhaps he'll succeed where others have not.

I don't understand 99% of what everybody here is talking about cool but it looks like Summoner is updating their rigged figures to be DAZ Studio compatible and that's cool AF laugh

Yes I am also having fun with it, actually did not want to go that deep into technical stuff, it is difficult to expreme things correctly and these sort of things can be quiet individual as every artist has he's own workflow. It is sure cool and a real highlight finding new way's, realizing that is was worth not giving up on them.

Actually running a Poser community that is mostly just quiet so there is and probably will not be allot of DS needs, but worth for the fun of it and things can get a little more flexible, DS users seem to be overwhelmed at times with all the stuff that is thrown at them from all over, for Poser I am just one of a handfull of creators left so there is not much concurence and users are happy about any release that is made, they are very thankfull for any quality release. ( Less can be sometimes more )

Ds Is also a wonderfull program, it is making fun using it and I was quiet surprised about some remarcable features ( Still learning a little has just been a little more then a week  ) so both is better then just one giving the artworks some more posibilities :)

  • @Nathrai My experience with ChatGPT has been different. It's been much, much better at coding since version 4, and 4o more often than not gets things right the first time. I think the key is being as specific as possible about what you want. For example, I wanted to save all the files in a directory as a zip file, so I told it that I wanted C++17, Qt 4.8.7, boost 1.80, use exceptions, don't encode a parent directory, and the function's signature should be "void zipDirectory( const QString &zipFilePath, const QString &outputDirectory);" and it got it right the first time. As well as the converse to unzip a file into a directory.

But I guess you'd need to be a programmer to know all that, so I guess you're still 100% right.

I think I can see where the software industry is going to go... I am actually programming less and less these days and instead concentrating on higher level, more important design questions.

As far as Fiverr, you may be right, but Upwork is much better because you can list the qualifications you want and then interview the respondents. I've found a Houdini expert who wrote the hair simulator that put Blender to shame, as well as a Blender guy who wrote the guts of a hair importer for the old particle hair system. So with Upwork in particular, I've had great experiences and I have no doubt that in order to solve this problem, one only needs to want it badly enough. With a straight face, I'd give the advice to find someone on Upwork, then start a kickstarter or gofundme, and announce it here. Richard M. Stallman, the man himself, said that this is kind of the whole point of open source software: Literally anyone can provide service around it.

  • @Summoner Gotta say that that model is a masterpiece... I get a very visceral reaction just looking at it, like when I first saw the movie "Aliens"... it's pushing a deep evolutionary button somewhere and I find that first creature in purple to be gorgeous and repulsive at the same time. Wow. Please consider a native Blender version :)

Yes. Vyusur has all but disappeared. No idea what happened.

She is at another site. (she? he? - I think it's a she) ;) Great dog and cat figures.

And nothing else - a shadow of what used to be. Other site is rhub, unless there is some other beyond that. DA gallery also pretty cleaned out. As I said, all but disappeared. No more stand alone humans, etc

Ah well. People do move on to other things. RL can get in the way sometimes.

    :) ....

This is one I made for an Asylum in Poser, it was quied a challenge, principally it would be simple as the articulations would be rather mechanical, the tubes made the whole thing really challenging to bend as smoothly as possible with the arms keeping also some gravity.  Even Blender had some issues with the autorig.

Porting it into DS these day's after a requets sure gave me some headaches as  some of the arms were not zero in world space causing a loss of rigging on import. but finally found a soulution for the issue so that DS could handle this problem ( Kind of bugging DS with errors until the error fixed the import issue  )

Acutually was a Perfect match for the The huge " West Park " collection here at DAZ giving a dark enough admosphere .... a time when really Dark places were released for Poser/DS

This here might be the last test for a while that I made for some additional import adjustments. I picked this Dagon due the rigging complexity in the wings to see if the DS Port can handle this type of wings, to my surprise it worked like charm. A figure I made a few years ago with the most challenging wing rig due the attachment of the membranes on the whole torso and half way into the thail of the dragon, the secondary wing membrane that is attached from the cheek along the neck. the Tigh's of the back legs having also a influence on the membranes giving smooth natural movements. I am actually a real fan of Dragons so made quiet a few of them ....

All renders made in Daz Studio

Here is my latest HD Fan art creation that I just finished today. It seems that there is still a way to go for me getting used to the DS Interface, the Texture setups and allot of other features that DS is having to offer. At least the New Porting feature seems doing a really great job without any errors. Also getting a little old and things seem to go slower then they did before. For the first time I had to create a Txt doc with steps avoiding to forget or miss one that could break my workflow.

Did you know why older people say that they aint got time, well because it takes them twice as long to do the things they want....

I know I could set up the skins a little better, somehow it is not my strength and I find these material setups quiet confusing at times, a little like! Try this, try that and see what happens .....
