Does the DS SDK have some kind of interface to write your own custom viewport?
You can already do this in Unity. There's an option to flip on Virtual Reality. A VR rendering mode would send output to the headset.

camera lens type spherical
shift F11

I assume VR rendering mode would use stereoscopic 3D images for each eye, instead of a huge 360 spherical map.
so none of you actually know either
explains everything
hope I can affort that Occulus or Vibe next tax return
Not sure what you mean. You can emmerse yourself in VR with a 360 spherical map, but it's not interactive. It's just a static background. If you want truely interactive VR in Daz Studio, you need to use stereoscopic 3D images.
sort of like this if only the iray viewport could calculate fast enough between moves
So, you're trying to make an animated VR movie from hundreds of 360 spherical map stills?
Maybe I shouldn't have used the word "rendering". I was thinking more along the lines of Daz adding a VR viewer for what you see in the viewport, for viewing and interactive purposes only, not specifically for rendering out still images. Although, if you had a VR viewer, someone could possibly add a 'Record VR movie' button.
no that is just a shadowplay capture of the DS viewport, was just trying to illustrate what one can do using a top and bottom viewport with a spherical lens
I already make 360 animations have for literally years actually in Carrara
an assorted software playlist some even done in DS

oh BTW I actually could view my Carrara Octane viewport with an Occulus rift if only I owned one in stereoscope too
Hello: The Oculus Quest has sold VERY WELL since its recent release. Facebook reported: they sold $5 million in content in the first 2 weeks following the Quest’s debut. I had to be online and ready to buy my VALVE: Index Pro Level HMD, because as I predicted they SOLD OUT IN 27 minutes. There are no less than 30 HIGH END VR HMD's on the market right now, each amazing... The sign of a healthy market!
Don't you worry about VR! It is here to stay ;)

I'm not worried about it staying, I am hoping for more integration, LOL I love working and playing in VR, especially with DAZ figures and environments. I would freakin love to explore and setup scenes in a VR environemnt inside DS.
Sketchfab has a VR option in their website model veiwer and it's really sweet to see a detailed model and then hit the VR option and the next thing you know you are in the world with the model checking it out.
i was a VR sceptic, like many others till I tried it and now can't imagine not using VR. I only hope as more headsets come to market the prices go down for more users to be able to try it out for themselves
On your recommendation, I bought a VR headset (I bought the Oculus Rift S). After trying out a few sample downloads and freebies like Google Earth (VR version) as well as an adult game that has licensed some DAZ content, I have to say that I've stepped into a whole new world. Now I'm quite keen to see how easy it might be to create scenes in DAZ Studio and export them to Unity to view in VR. I have only just downloaded Unity so I know nothing yet but, just as I have been begging for a Blender Bridge, I'm now even more keen for a DAZ-to-Unity bridge. In the meantime, if anyone can point me to a tutorial for exporting whole scenes to Unity (I have found tutorials for exporting Genesis 2/3/8 already) I would be grateful.
I have no idea whether animation, soft-body physics or clothing simulation are all features built-in to Unity but I am keen to find out.
Just to be clear: I am no game developer, I have no coding skills or other technical abilities needed to create games. I'm only interested in Unity for its VR viewing capabilities. If this was something that could be integrated into DAZ Studio, I'd be more than happy.
You can load static sets in Twinmotion which is free and has VR
it has rustling treess grasses sculptable terrains, animated Fuse people and animals and weather
is a thread here
